McDougal’s Chicken

This is hands down the best chicken finger in the area! The first thing that I think of when I think chicken fingers is sauce, and boy does this place deliver. Their signature sauce, Mcdougal Sauce, is ok and they say that the HoneyBee sauce is most popular. But hands down the best sauce is the Gold sauce. And the better part of all of this? They give you unlimited sauces to try so you can try everything! The chicken isn’t greasy and is always cooked well. My only complaint is that I wish the toast was a bit softer, but overall this place takes the cake for chicken fingers. Give this place a try and you will be hooked!

Chicken tenders are like my second favorite food next to pizza, so obviously I was pumped when I saw the «Coming Soon» sign hanging from the little building on White Bridge. McDougal’s is right at about the halfway point between my house and my school. Dangerous.
I always go for the small basket combo with smoky dipping sauce. It’s cheap, delicious, and giant! It can be hard to finish if you’re not starving! The fried tenders are perfect and huge, the fries and Texas toast are also wonderful. And to top it all off, if you’ve got the room, they give you a little scoop of ice cream at the end of your meal.
A+ service and food for sure. My favorite place to eat now.

We stopped in on Sunday for lunch and ended up sitting at the small bar and watching football while we ate. The servers were friendly and attentive and you order at the counter and seat yourself so the atmosphere is casual and laid-​back. The location is smaller than the Vanderbilt original but offers outdoor seating for customer overflow. They have a diverse assortment of canned beers and we enjoyed a Magic Hat and a Stiegl while we waited for our food. The fried tenders were huge and juicy and the fries were thick and well-​seasoned. I like my tenders plain and then dip them in an assortment of sauces, you get to choose three sauces with every basket. Be warned if you get them sauced, they come out totally smothered and my boyfriend wished he had gone the plain route like me. If you love a good hot sauce then go with the Tearjerker and a side of bleu cheese to cool you down.
I would give them 5 stars except for the quality of the chicken wings. I love wings but was totally dissapointed. The wings were slimy, not crispy at all, and had yellow globs of chicken fat on them. The texture was so off-​putting that I couldn’t eat them and just ended up throwing them away. I’m not sure if they were under-​fried or had an off day, but I will not be ordering them again. Stick with the fried tenders, it’s what they do best.

I LOVE McDougal’s. When I heard they were opening one near my house I was like «Aww Hell No». Mostly because I worry about adding even more girth to my already girthy frame.
In one of my most recent visits, I brought my folks along, sure that they would also love the Honeybee sauce. However, they described the taste as «Astringent». I don’t know how these people are related to me, but more for me I guess?
Seriously though, *I* love this place and I love its wings and I love the Honeybee sauce. Actually you probably shouldn’t even count my review because I sound like a raving lunatic.
And if you are one of those people who think the Honeybee Sauce tastes «Astringent», send me yours, I’m building a stockpile in case of the apocalypse.

Man. I was really excited for this place only to get a major let down. While the breaded fingers were pretty goods, the food was really over priced for what it was. There was really nothing special about the chipotle and BBQ sauces I tried, and the ‘grilled’ fingers would have been below par in a cafeteria. Sampled the wings. Also well below expectations. Hattie B’s def stays #1 on the West Side by a laaaaarge margin.

This place is always awesome. Glad that they opened a mcdougal near our house. I don’t have to fight with vandy students anymore for good food! Service here at white bridge is great!

Great staff and fabulous food ! Such a great dinner experience as we gathered after our evening church service to enjoy great conversation with friends.

Is what it is. Great beers. Great service. Great chicken and fries. I always go fried and tossed in buffalo. Love the new west Nashville location. Will go back.

Can’t beat a good neighborhood chicken spot. Have trouble deciding between fried fingers and wings. Fries are crazy good. Beer is overpriced though. $ 4.75 for abita

Great addition to the neighborhood! Fun, casual atmosphere with TVs for sports, good music playing overhead, lots of fun, funky stuff on the walls… Staff was super friendly, especially the GM, Shana, who brought us yummy soft serve ice-​cream (complimentary) for dessert and was fun to chat with. Food was very fresh (especially the salad greens), chicken moist with great flavor, fries hot and cooked just right, and the sauces we tried were excellent. I had salad with grilled chicken fingers (can order it grilled or fried), which I dipped in honeybee sauce. Perfect! It would be nice if they offered beer on tap, but the selection of bottled beers was adequate. Glad to see them come to the West side! I’m fairly hard to please food wise, so didn’t expect to like this place, but was truly impressed and will definitely go back.

Relaxed dining, specializng in chicken fingers and sides in a basket. Cold beer and softdrinks available with the meal rounded out by soft serve ice cream. Comfortable for Millennials, young families, and up. Great service and fun décor. I can’t wait for the patio to be added. Look for this to become a popular place for the neighbors as well as those who wish they were.
