Love, love, love Nashville Violins! They fixed a family heirloom violin I had at a very reasonable price, offer instrument rentals(violin was $ 15/month) and offer lessons for all sorts of string instruments, including piano. They also offer a family discount if you have more than one family member taking lessons. You can find many different instruments, gear, and sheet music/books for sale in their shop.(If you rent an instrument from them and decide to purchase one later on they will credit you for the amount you paid on the rental!!) Nashville Violins is really conveniently located near Briley Parkway and 40 in West Nashville, just around the corner from the Richland Park Library branch on Charlotte. The staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgable. I have seen them bend over backwards to accomodate their students. Lessons are taught during the day, after school and some instructors teach for a few hours in the evenings. I have seen students young and old coming in and out each week so they really do cater to everyone. My son took violin lessons there for quite some time and we were always so pleased. He learned so much so quickly we were amazed at his progression. I highly recommend Jessica. She is super sweet, incredibly talented and always does a great job at keeping students focused and encouraged by knowing just how hard to push them and celebrating their accomplishments. The recitals are always so fun and really enjoyable. They are also free! They are held at a nearby church in order to be able to accomodate all of their students and their families. We love that they have the younger students play first(knowing that it would be hard for them and their young siblings to sit through the entire thing) then have a break for refreshments before the older students and ensembles perform. We always want to stick around for the second half because some of the students are so talented and the selections they choose to perform are so wonderful but never were able to with our babies. We had planned to sign our daughter up for piano lessons but ended up moving about 40 minutes away. Right now that’s too far for us to travel each week, but hopefully in the future we will be able to make it work. If you are thinking of taking music lessons for any stringed instrument or piano you should go to Nashville Violins first. Meet the instructors and even consider going to a recital. They really are the best!
