This café is in the Palmer Plaza office building in midtown. It has a very limited menu of sandwich selections, a small salad bar, a rotating daily special and a couple of Asian menu items. The Asian items were of particular interest to me because I learned that the Japanese Consulate is in this building. So I thought it would churn out some really good items. Also, and I do NOT mean for this to come across as an assumption, but the proprietors are also Asian so my expectations were a bit higher. Unfortunately what I got was food items openly microwaved in front of me — like my egg roll and the veggies for my stir-fry. The egg roll was put on a griddle to toast up after being nuked and my stir-fry was prepared in a wok in front of me. But the concept of microwaved veggies, egg roll and chicken were very unappealing. I do not even microwave very many things at home. It’s basically just a thing to make popcorn on occasion. While the prices are good, they do not accept cards. It is either cash or check. Truly I hardly know a soul that carries a checkbook around anymore(except for my mother but she’s old school that way). In a pinch I may give them another try and get a sandwich the next time around. The thought of paying for microwaved food just does nothing for me.
