I went into Firestone downtown last week to get my car checked out before going through emissions. I’m not sure if I received an exaggerated report because I’m a woman and went in alone, but I was told that I needed work on my catalytic converter(which would run between $ 800-$ 1,000) and that before that I needed to have a full diagnostic run(which would cost $ 98). I inquired why the full diagnostic was necessary & why it was so much; they explained that they weren’t sure how long it would take for the mechanic to get around to my car and they needed to pay him for his time, even though his time may not be focused on my vehicle. Through a friend’s suggestion, I went to Phoenix Auto afterwards to get a second opinion. I was serviced immediately(less than a 5 minute wait) by a knowledgeable and personable representative(Mr. Cory Lay). They ran a full diagnostic at no charge and discovered that there was no issue with my vehicle whatsoever, but that if anything came up within the next few weeks to come have it serviced with them at less than half the cost that Firestone quoted me. I took my car through emissions and passed. Furthermore, I saved approximately $ 1,000 by going to Phoenix rather than Firestone. Highly recommend.
