Pre To Post Modern

I’m not a vintage junkie, but this lace is just plain fun. The selection and quality are great and the prices seem really low/​fair. We went in with two of our kids (ages 17 and 20) and the four of us had a blast. So any fun clothes to laugh about, try on… we even bought some crazy stuff on impulse and didn’t break the bank. Staff is friendly. Layout is not claustrophobic. When we’re back in Nashville, we’ll be back.

This is the best place I’ve found for quality vintage housewares at great prices.
I’ve been coming here for about 10 years and the quality and selection has remained top notch and the prices have not risen — that is what makes this place stand out in Nashville where more and more antique/​junk stores have sold out to the MCM craze, charging sky-​high amounts for basic vintage pieces. And let me be clear, this place is NOT a junk store. Their pieces are clean and polished and looking their best.
Pre to Post Modern is small, but their inventory changes very frequently. I’ve bought several pieces of furniture over the years, and I’m always stopping in to see what’s new.
I am very sorry to read some of the negative reviews regarding the owner and customer service… I have never had a bad experience, personally. It’s true that there isn’t an overwhelming sense of customer service, but when I’m getting a fantastic piece of vintage furniture in mint condition for a steal, it’s hard to complain.

I went in with a friend who had been in before and said it was really reasonably priced. I definitely have to agree with her! There were a few big ticket items, including a Mongolian fur rug (understandably so), but otherwise everything was super affordable. Decent clothing selection too. I settled for a precious 50s/​60s plastic Easter chick bank for only $ 9! What a steal! Not super large inside but they seem to get new (to the store) items frequently.

We just had the worst experience ever in any store. The owner was the rudest and most insensitive person I have ever encountered a retail store. Our son was feeling sick and she could not have cared less. She said that’s why she didn’t have children and treated us so badly — after chasing us out — other customers walked out and told me outside they would never go back.
We will never go back and spend any money there.
If you want respect and kindness — go somewhere else.
Don’t support mean people spend your money elsewhere.

This store has a lot of great stuff, but the staff working was incredibly rude to me and the other person I was in the store with.
Bad customer service can ruin an otherwise good experience for a lot of people, so I suggest the staff realize that a smile and saying «Hello!» to the customers would be beneficial. Glaring at them and not saying a word is not a good way to keep customers coming back.
I loved everything in the store and I wanted to continue browsing, but I felt uncomfortable being there. Maybe it was just an off day.

We went here after a gal at Third Man Records recommended it, and we loved your selections.
The prices are steep at times but you’re destined to find some keepers tucked away.
Plus the variety of items are wonderful and the staff is kind.
Worth the stop and shop!

We love this place and when I say «we» I mean me and everyone that I bring here. The owner and staff do a great job of keeping this place unique and awesome.
Pre to Post is not your typical antique store… No digging required. Everything is presented in a clean and appealing way. However this doesn’t mean you won’t spend awhile browsing so you don’t miss anything.
The stuff is mostly mid-​century modern and it’s all in great condition. The only complaint I have is that my apartment isn’t bigger so that I can buy more :)
Another tip… Their prices are great and they definitely set them fair so they don’t come down as other antique stores might.

Bought a quirky lamp here, get home to set it up, and they’ve taken the bulb out? Really? Now I can’t find one that even fits — if you’re going to be that cheap and take it out when you go to ring me up, at least tell me so that I can make note of what I need! So ridiculous.

I am a mid century modern/​vintage collector and drive thousands of miles all over the USA looking for that perfect vase or accent table. This is a small store but the prices are VERY reasonable and she gets really cool things you won’t find anywhere else. Worth a stop is you are nearby. I wish I was!

The owner of the shop was very friendly. The place is well organized, clean, and offers a variety of classic modern furniture and décor.

Very cool shop. We stopped in to kill some time and found a lot of very neat things. I thought things were fairly priced and the store is very nicely curated. Lots of unique items and a lot of cool history. I loved the local items and even fell in love with some things that weren’t for sale.
I’m sure we’ll come back the next time we need to find a cool gift or something funky for our place!

This is such a great store! From the moment you walk in you feel like you have stepped back into time. They have original and reproduction furniture and accessories and a great selection of vintage clothing and t-​shirts. I did not notice an odd smell and the girl at the counter was nice so I’m not sure about some of the other reviews. Next time I am in Nashville I plan on stopping by!

Nicely edited store with tons of cool vintage clothing. Mostly 60’s & 70’s styles. Great place for unique house warming gifts too.

Cheaper than Modern Classic with reasonable small items like a vintage pink beauty trash can $ 35 and a green marbled bathroom scale $ 28 — both work. Furniture is not comparable to Modern Classics but is priced accordingly and since they’re right next door to each other always worth a stop.

Horrible customer service! Unprofessional and rude for no reason.
A couple of weeks ago I emailed them the following question: (Direct quote)
«I was wondering if you sold any personal merchandise at your store (like shirts or bumper stickers with your name/​logo/​images on them). I am looking for something to include in a gift. Thank you!»

«No, we aren’t into such… and that is NOT a very good gift. Who in the hell would want such cheap clutter for a gift? Not me !!!»
I had intended to get a client a gift card from the store with what I asked about, but obviously they won’t ever be getting my business.

I REALLY love this place. I first stumbled upon it when I moved back to Nashville two years ago, but buying a house (and then a condo) and antique-​hunting incessantly gave me a greater appreciation for the eclectic offerings – and the affordable prices – one can find at Pre to Post.
I’ve bought everything from $ 40 vintage Wrangler boots to a $ 200 mid-​century modern dresser to pink aviator sunglasses. You truly never know what you might unearth in this trove of treasures.
But what I love more than the well-​curated pieces that pepper the shop are the kind, personable sales associates who could not be more pleasant. And the owner herself is a true delight (ask her about all the country music stars who have filmed or done photo shoots in her home!). Seriously, they’re all so accommodating (they let me leave a piece there a couple weeks after purchasing as I was in the middle of a big move), so helpful and not at all pushy, and I would buy everything from this store if possible.

This is Nashville’s «only «spot to find mid century modern furniture. A couple of booth vendors around town may have a piece or two. But on a regular basis this little store has a roomful… for about an hour.
Because they’re the only real game in town, when the buyer fills up the furniture showroom, it’s emptied within hours.
If you want to see new items, check their Facebook page carefully each day. If you plan to buy something, buy it as soon as you see it. You will not have an opportunity to for that item later.
And their other two showrooms you can buy clothing and knickknacks. I see lots of people checking out records bad vintage clothing.
I only get to make a purchase about one out of 20 visits… for some reason, I’m always walking in as what I hoped to buy is being carried out. However, the consolation price for me is going to 8^th & Roast next door!

Great place for mid century furniture and they are so much more reasonable than the other antique malls.
They have artwork, sofas, chairs, tables and lamps as well as glassware and collectibles. They also had a clothing section which I didn’t go into, but it looked stocked with some cool vintage clothes.
We’ve been back there twice now and will probably visit again.

The inventory at Pre To Post Modern is very eclectic and stocks some really kitschy knick knacks and housewares and retro furniture too. They have a nice vintage clothing and accessories area too. The prices are fair and with a little digging, you can find some real treasures.
The staff greets you but generally leaves you to your own curiosity which I appreciate.
This is a great spot to pick up a gift for someone who adores vintage or retro goodness or who possesses a fun sense of humor!
