I saw Dr. Pop after moving to Nashville and the hygienist immediately said I had 6 or 7 cavities. I was pregnant at the time so they couldn’t do x-​rays but Dr. Pop agreed with her without even seeing x-​rays. This was shocking to me because our dentist at home was a family friend of 20+ years and I had had the same hygienist for the same amount of time and neither of them had EVER mentioned anything resembling a cavity. Needless to say I wanted a second opinion. I saw another respected and highly rated dentist in town and she ASSURED me that I did not have any cavities and couldn’t have even tried to find one. Her x-​rays confirmed this. So glad I got another opinion. He seemed overly intervention happy and his office was super empty the both times I was there so maybe he is hurting for business.

Excellent care and service. The dental hygienist took so much time to take care of my teeth; one of the best cleanings I’ve ever had. I was unable to spend a lot of time with Dr Pop because my infant was screaming, but in that short amount of time, he was able to tell me what he observed and what I need to come back for. My husband went as well and liked him very much. We will keep him as our dentist.

I am not a good dental patient. It takes a lot of Novocaine to dull the pain and that much makes me numb and drooling all day. As a result I would rather grab the arm rails and suffer than deal with all the shots.
Doctor Pop takes all that into account. His staff works with me, getting me appointments late in the day so that I can go home drooling instead of trying to suffer through a day at work.
He works with me on what I need and we have come up with a schedule so that I can have the work I need done and still have it fit my budget.
Best of all, he put in a crown that chipped and he replaced it. A month later it cracked and he replaced it with a harder material. He told me in no uncertain terms that he stands by his work and he would fix it as many times as it takes to make certain I was happy with it.
The staff is delightful, the service professional and the location is easy.

Seriously, though, when I first moved to Nashville a few years ago, it took me a while to find health care providers I was comfortable with. I can’t remember what brought me to Dr. Pop, probably my wife bullying me, but I’ve been very happy with the care that I have gotten there. Located across the street from the Belle Meade Kroger (and ironically in the parking lot is the headquarters of the notorious quack snake oil salesman «Dr.» Asa Andrew), Dr. Pop just recently renovated his offices and they did a really good job. I’ve never understood the people that get all uptight going to the dentist. My last dentist before I moved out here used to do my fillings without any sort of numbing agent and it never hurt.
I go here regularly for teeth cleaning and have had a few fillings replaced. Dr. Pop did use a numbing agent and did a great job. He’s also quite a funny guy, has a great personality. Same with his hygienists. I’ve always thought it is an art form to be able to create conversation when the other party is only capable of make intermittent grunts and gurgles. These guys do a great job. I’ve also never had any issues with their billing or them working with my insurance, which is also a big relief.
So yeah, if you need a great dentist, Dr. Pop is the guy.
