Red’s Classic Barber Shop

Went in for my first ever professional beard trim. I was nervous because I didn’t want my beard all hacked up. I was a bit reluctant that a female was going to be cutting on my beard, but Monica did a great job. She was patient, attentive, and responsive. Not only that, she did a great job! The shop was cool and had a friendly, laid back vibe. Wish we had a shop like this in Sumner County.

This place knows how to do it right.

This place is fantastic. The barbers are all superb and are invested in the quality of their work. James is my barber, and in addition to providing a slick hair cut, that dude is always offering insight into hair and beard maintenance. It’s the best spot in Nashville, no question.
Parking next door is pricey, though. Set an appointment and show up 10 min early. You can park in the Library down the street and just walk over to the place. Just be sure to get back in an hour or you’ll have to pay there too.

In Nashville for work and wanted to get my beard cleaned up a bit and head shaved. They got me in and did an awesome job. Legit barbershop with knowledgeable barbers. Wish they had a location in Texas. Go see James if you need your beard looking right.

Was able to drop in and get my hair cut before attending a wedding. Employees created a fun environment and the price was a pleasant surprise.

This place is the bomb. Slightly on the pricey side, but when they charge you $ 32 bucks to feel like a $ 100? That’s worth it. Rob’s my boy here, but might want to make an appointment with him after lunch. ;)

The only place in Nashville I trust to cut my hair. The staff is awesome, the shop has a unique atmosphere, and the service is unrivaled (Rob is a genius). And it’s located near some of my favorite lunch spots downtown.

I’ve now had my third haircut here and my hair looks good freshly cut and continues to look great for at least 4 – 5 weeks. I’m not the kind of guy looking for a cocktail bar, a stogie, or a beautiful young something to look at who is not an experienced barber. Yes, those options are available in NashVegas, but for cripe sakes — I just want a REALLY good cut, neck shave, and be out door in 30 minutes for less than $ 30 (that includes the $ 5 tip)! If your a practical dude who likes to look good without all the sideshow crap, Red’s is your kind of place. I highly recommend James and Rob. Oh, and Jim will you ensure you get a refreshing bottle of water or a cup of good coffee.

Great place! I came here to fix a haircut I got at a different salon. Not only did I get it fixed, I was more satisfied than any other cut I have gotten. The full experience and cut was of premium quality.

I love coming here. I’ve stumbled along this place after a «off the beaten path» barber messed my head up (cutting my hear unevenly) I quickly asked if they could save my head. David did such a wonderful job that he became my normal barber sense.

After more than 15 years with the same barber I recently relocated to Nashville and had to find a traditional barber shop. Thanks to many positive reviews on Unilocal I gave Red’s a try. From the moment I called for an appointment I was made to feel welcome and was thanked in a very genuine tone for giving Red’s a try. I got an appointment for the same day and was assigned to Rob, a third generation barber who’s been cutting hair for 10 years. I walked out with a fantastic haircut and straight razor shaved neck. I plan to walk back in two weeks and ask for Rob again. Happy first time customer here! My search for a traditional barbershop is over!

Very cool place & a great experience. I searched for «best barber shop in TN», and Red’s was at the top of the list. After reading the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. I made an appt with Hunter since he was mentioned in several good reviews. Red’s is exactly what I’ve been looking for — a classic barber shop with barbers that know what they’re doing. Everything in the shop just has a cool vibe — the ceiling, columns, floor, décor, old furniture, and even hats & ties for sale.
I showed Hunter a couple of pictures of the hair style I was thinking about, and he discussed a couple of things with me before starting. Then, he got to work. He knew what he was doing. He stopped twice during the cut to show me how my hair looked to make sure I didn’t want to change anything before he proceeded, which was nice. He even gave me tips on how to comb & style my new cut. The razor finish on the back of my neck was a nice touch.
This was the first time in three years that I’ve had a hair cut by someone, as I’ve been doing it myself. I got tired of having to touch up my hair myself after paying someone to do it, so I just started cutting it myself. That is to say, this is the first time in my life where there wasn’t anything about my hair that I would change. Hunter definitely did a great job. The feeling of being back in a barber shop and leaving with a fresh cut was great. I also liked the «old school» smell of the shaving cream he used on my neck. I’ll definitely be back.

Décor: — i love the décor and the setup. Its supet cool décor reminds me of 1920’s up scale era. Its like a power house except now u have hippies with tatoos.
I got my self an appointment for 9:30. They were ready and waiting. The guy was cool & sharp. He also presented himself well & scissors got in action. Amazed at his speed. I had a hangover so i passed out while he was cutting. It was like a massage with scissors. Good music was playing. His scissors were so sharp and fast he just took a nice bit of his finger but the man did not stop. Gave me an amazing haircut. Warm wet towels.
final verdict: — amazing spot for a haircut. The décor is cool. The peeps are fine. Love the scissors work. Warm wet towel. The guy was cool. Music was ambient. $ 22 dollars only. NYC u pay 40 or 50 like fellow barber.
I thing i hated. Why the reservations ??? The place was empty in evening. Be more democratic please. But i will definitely go again.

You have a real beard and are apprehensive about shaping it? Hunter is your man. He’s been in charge of my 2 year beard for the past year, and he does and excellent job of keeping it shaped just like I want it.
Make an appointment, they are usually busy. The online appointment scheduler has worked great for me when I forget to set a return appointment. Parking and traffic can make you late, allow an extra 15 – 20 minutes if you like to hunt for the cheapest parking. Otherwise, just park in the Printers Alley garage. That has become my routine.

Had a really positive experience here. I have only been there once and I plan on returning after my experience today.
I woke up this morning and decided I really needed a straight razor shave of my head, all that hair just needed to go. Jumped on the internet and Red’s came up as one of the higher rated places in Nashville that does straight razor head shaves.
Tried to make an appointment online, but you have to do at least 24 hours out on their website. Called them up, they made me an appointment for that afternoon.
Walked in, great look, great feel, clean, just an all around great atmosphere. You definitely get the old time classic barber shop feel. The barber I had was great, introduced himself, made sure he understood exactly what I wanted. He made sure it was an experience not just a hair cut.
I don’t frequent nicer hair salons or barber shops often so to me the $ 25-​ish dollars wasn’t cheap I would say it is definitely worth it for what you are getting.
Bottom line: good price, good experience

In Nashville for Spring Break and my teenage son needed a haircut — read the reviews and decided Red’s was the place.
Hunter did an awesome job! He was very nice to chat with and took care to know what my son wanted and was meticulous in the cut! Also took time to show him ways to style it :) We’ll be back when we are through next time for sure! Highly recommend this place!

Seriously one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. It’s clear that Hunter loves his job, and his work shows just that. I told my wife that it’s one of those places that feels like I would be going back when I’m old as hell. A new-​classic barbershop with dudes around my age who will be old and curmudgeonly at about the same time I will as an old man getting a trim. I will most definitely be back.
