The RTA runs a commuter bus route between Nashville and Murfreesboro, a rail service between Nashville and Lebanon, and Rideshare and Park & Ride services to the Nashville area. When the Metro Transit Authority discontinued their Hendersonville stops last year, the mayors of Hendersonville and Gallatin got together with the RTA to fill the need for a commuter bus between those two cities and Nashville. The route, which runs round-trip twice daily during the work week, just started yesterday. The cost for a one-way ticket is $ 3.50. The RTA has contracted luxury Grayline buses for the Hendersonville-Gallatin route, which include satellite TVs and an onboard restroom. So far, the route seems to be running on time, and its passengers are pleased to be saving money by riding the bus. The driver I met on the last bus today was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. If you live in Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, or Gallatin and the RTA’s bus routes fit into your schedule, I’d definitely recommend trying it — riding the bus is a good way to save money, and it helps reduce your carbon footprint.
