Decent but definitely not up to its reputation or prices. Different league from Bern’s(Tampa), Hall’s(Charleston), and Red’s(Miami). Mac and cheese was simple and relied in a thick bacon topping for additional flavor; tomahawk steak was thin and the filet portion was missing. Supposedly one of the top ten steakhouses in U.S., but it must be because of its geographic location. Decent service.

Some of these reviews make me wonder. Are they real. Are they the competition? I’m not sure because my husband and I enjoyed our visit VERY much. It started with being greeted like royalty and, well, who doesn’t want that? We were seated in a lovely, clean dining room. Even the young children at another table were on their(almost) best behavior. Our service was amazing — Fady was professional without being stiff and rude, knowledgeable, funny and on point. John, the manager was personable and professional — he really knows Nashville! Our food was perfect — salads, steaks, mac and cheese and spinach and mushrooms. Not one thing was bad! Cooked exactly how we like! Mac and Cheese is not my favorite — it often taste like spit to me(yeah, gross, I know!) but the mac and cheese was excellent at the Stockyard. Do yourself a favor — go enjoy a good steak there. A glass of wine and some conversation. Nice romantic night out — we will go again!

This place is very overpriced. My food was fine but several others in our group said their food was not good. When you pay over $ 50 for just a steak you expect more. The family style sided we got were good. I would not go back here.

The place came highly recommended so we gave it a try. We had 8 in our party and the service was impeccable. Salads were excellent with a great blue cheese dressing. Our table had 4 cattlemen seated so we are familiar with a good steak. None of us had ever had Kobe beef and we decided to give it a try. The menu says«American Kobe Beef» so that should have been a clue that we were not getting true Kobe which originates in Japan. The steaks were OK, but not the quality we expected when ordering a steak in the $ 80 + sides + salad + overpriced drinks. I don’t mind paying big money for a great meal but I’ve had much better steak for much less money. I would have to try somewhere else next time.

This is a review from a very close friend of mine. I wanted to help her get the word out. I recently had dinner of Salmon and mushrooms and it cost $ 71. My meal was delicious, however, I’m in a wheelchair and had to enter by a ramp on the back of the building. The ramp is in terrible condition. It’s made of plywood, that’s peeling and creaked and cracked while I was on it. It was so steep I had to come down backwards to keep from falling out of my chair. If I pay that much for 1 meal I want to know that I can safely enter and exit. I obviously did but it was very slim shady and I won’t be back until the ADA codes are met.

Not worth the money. I’ve had better Prime rib at O’Charleys. The frozen crab cakes at Sam’s Club are better then the ones served here. Huge disappointment. When I last ate there back in ’94, they were really good. Will not be back.

Ok steaks, not worth the expensive prices. Ruth Chris or Stoney river steaks are better.

Too bad there in’t a NO Star option. Awful! POORQUALITYMEAT. VERYEXPENSIVE– which our waiter felt the need to announce upon each choice we made from the menu. I have never heard a waiter discuss pricing so much. DON’T Go– So many other great restaurants in Nashville

Simply delicious. Excellent service from the driver who picked us up at our hotel from the waitress and serving staff. I recommend the prime rib but be prepared not to be able to finish it! This was my first trip to Nashville and I’m glad we gave it a try despite the low rating. The building is very rich in history and the staff is very knowledgable. I will come again next time I’m in town.

Why do my Nashville friends keep hauling me here like this is The Best Steak Place Ever? No, it is not. I have been here on several occasions over 20 years. My thoughts have not changed in the least: Décor is OLD; Environment is dusty; Menu is boring; Service is average on a good day. If I were a male professional in the area this would be my #1 place to close business(usually with another male). It is a middle-class manly sort of place where size does matter, and the portions prove it. So do the drinks. This is not much of a «bottle of wine» sort of establishment. It is more about testosterone drinks. The food is fine if steak is your thing. I find the prices to be reasonable. If I lived in Nashville the only reason I would take a house guest here would be to encourage them to leave. Bottom line: This is just not a memorable experience.

This is a great place to entertain business associates or other large parties when in Nashville. This is a big and sprawling old-fashioned steakhouse built in a renovated stockyard building on a corner near the railroad tracks in an old part of town. It is also decorated like an old stockyard building — all wood and dark colors. We went there with a party of about two dozen(a manufacturers rep meeting) … no problem for this place. They put us upstairs in a nice size room with tons of tables mashed together. We could be noisy and boisterous and we didn’t bother anyone. They kept the alcohol flowing and service took care of our needs. This is a steak house … so you’ll probs want to order a steak — while I am sure the fish and shrimp can be good — THISIS A STEAKHOUSE. The steaks here are very nice. When you first come in you’ll pass near the kitchen and can often see the grill man putting the char on steaks … they go through that many a night. So let’s review: is this place noisy — Yep, especially in the group rooms … is it expensive — Check and Check … is it a great place for loud entertaining — Absolutely in the group rooms … do you want to try and be on the expense account when you visit — That would be wise. Fun place and no where near as stuffy as the pictures on their website.

This is a classy, old-style steakhouse with a great atmosphere. Service was impeccable, very attentive and providing great recommendations. Food is pricey, but worth the money for a special event. I was with a large group and preordered assorted seafood appetizers to make things easy. I recommend the calamari and seared tuna. The shrimp in the cocktail were a bit overcooked, and I found the crab cakes a bit too«bready,» although both were very appetizing. The entrée of the Kobe Kansas City Strip was perfectly cooked, but could use a bit more seasoning. I’m a huge onion ring fan, and the one garnishing the dish did not disappoint. You have to try the maple & bacon cheesecake for dessert. It’s a bit of a novelty and waaayy too much for one person. The flavors married well together and topped off the meal perfectly. I will be back…

Just had dinner there last night. HUGELY glad it was a business expense and not out of our pocket! The appetizer of seafood was nice, no complaints there. However, the bone in steak that was the special of the house(at a mere $ 69, yes you read that right), was horrible! Being from the Midwest, now a New Yorker and loving all things steak, this particular cut though cooked perfectly, the taste was absolutely wretched. So bad that I only took 2 bites and leaned over to my husband and said,” I think something is wrong with this meat. It tastes really funny.” It sat there in front of me untouched. Utter disappointment in a promising evening. Beware of drinks… They tend to «forget«the mixer… Overpriced, cool old building… My first«taste» of Nashville… bummed out!

Been there, done that. Won’t go back. We had such high expectations for the Stockyard. Had heard amazing things. Left completely disappointed. The ambience was as expected. It’s located in an large old historic stockyard building that was renovated in the 1970’s. The décor reflects that time with the old wallpaper and woody interior. A group of 5 went out that night. Our waiter was super creepy and instead of asking us how our steaks were, he would say«isn’t that just the best steak you’ve ever put in your mouth?» Unfortunately, no, it wasn’t. I’ve had much better for much less money. And he asked my friend if he would like sautéed onions with his meal and he said yes. What was crazy was that his steak came with a side of sautéed onions on his plate, and he received a huge extra dish of sautéed onions on the side for $ 10! To be fair, the huge appetizer sampler our group got was good, and our steaks were good. But not worth the money. My husband got the bone-in ribeye for $ 75(just for the meat), and he’s had better at Stoney River. Our tab for 5 of us(with maybe one alcoholic per person) came to about $ 600! My husband and I paid $ 250 for two steaks, a couple of drinks, a couple of sides, and part of an appetizer(before tip)! We ate at Kayne Prime for half of that and it was amazing! Even Stoney River is better for under $ 100 a couple. If not for the creepy waiter, the experience would have been better. But excluding that, the food is not worth the price. Check out Kayne Prime.

My wife and I went here for New Year’s Eve. Being from out if town, we wanted to try someplace local. I made the mistake of not reading the Unilocal reviews before making the reservation. I am kicking myself for not canceling. The ambience was pretty good but the food was just ok. The side dishes were tasty(we has the Mac and cheese and au gratin potatoes). The real problem is that the steaks are lousy and way overpriced. I’ve had better steaks at Applebee’s and Friday’s, and for a lot less money. Service was nothing special. Our server was definitely disappointed my wife ordered a virgin drink and I only ordered a single glass of wine. Normally we would get a bottle of wine, but since she is expecting, alcohol wasn’t an option. Overall, this place was a disappointment. The meal wasn’t awful, just not worth the money. I’m sure Nashville has better options, now I just need to use Unilocal more to find out where they are located.

This place. Where do I start? Let’s go with the positives first. I went there with some friends and we had a party of 5. We ordered a big appetizer to share and then we each ordered a steak. I had the bone-in rib eye that was their special that day. My wife had a small steak and we each had a glass of wine. The food was excellent. I enjoyed everything and was very happy with its preparation. The bad. Our waiter was something. Creepy, arrogant, child-molestery. I’m not sure which adjective describes him most accurately. «Is that the best thing you’ve ever put in your mouth?» While hilarious, that was not something I wanted to hear from my waiter. There were some other gems from him, but I’ll spare you. The ugly. Our bill was $ 250. Whaaa?!? That was before the ‘tip’. We all split the appetizer and, again, my wife had a steak, I had a steak and we both had a glass of wine(we shared a side or two). My bone-in rib eye special was $ 75 by itself. I don’t mind splurging for a great meal, but this was a bit much. Don’t go here. The best steak in town is at Kayne Prime. Cork and Cow in Franklin and Flemings are both very good. If you want to keep things under $ 100, Stoney River makes a great steak. If you’ve ever wondered what the guy in Silence of the Lambs did for a living(the guy that kept the girl in the well and did ‘the tuck’), I’m pretty sure he trains the wait staff at Stockyard.

Yikes, this place was a disappointment. Overpriced. –I’m not cheap. Well, a little sometimes but this was ridiculous. Pretty much all of their steaks were more expensive than anything I’ve seen in Boston, including my favorite, the kobe cap steak at Grill 23(which will still run you a good $ 20 less than some of the cuts at Stockyard). I wasn’t even paying for it and I was uncomfortable. Overhyped. –The steaks just flat out weren’t that good. They weren’t terrible, but it was terrible to charge as much as they did for what was standard, slightly overcooked and fairly overseasoned steaks. The appetizers were actually quite good but again, ridiculously expensive. Creepy. –This place looks like it had some charm at one point in its history but now it’s just like walking into a weird dimly lit shell. Hastily laid wallpaper, weird wires and pipes jutting out, awkward lighting… it just made me uncomfortable(and I consider myself happy in a dive bar).

Yikes. Hey, I’ve eaten great steaks all over the world. I’ve been to some great steakhouses in the US, including Morton’s. Sorry, but paying $ 46 a la carte for a NY Strip, I had better think its the best steak I’ve ever eaten. Not even close. The service was professional, the food was good(not great), and the prices are ridiculous. I’ll leave Stockyard for those with enough disposable income to afford it, but it’s not for me.

Ok, here’s the deal. The food really was good, but everything else about the experience was less than 1 star quality. Sooo it averages to 2? Sure. I went to the Stockyard for a business dinner — The person organizing it was from out of town and chose it for it’s historical value and reputation. We didn’t realize at the time that the reputation stems from back in the day when the place was in its prime. It’s not in the best neighborhood. It’s between some railroad tracks and warehouses — no other restaurants or anything commercial in walking distance. I was honestly a little nervous leaving my car in the {empty} open parking lot surrounded by chain link fence. The place was totally dead when we walked in — and it was what I would have thought was peak time for dinner. The building/décor is definitely historic, but I dare say it fringes on run down. The room they sat us in was hot and stuffy with absolutely no circulation. I love sweating profusely during a nice business dinner, don’t you? Our host had brought his own wine after looking at the menu online and realizing that the corking fee + retail price was still much less than the price of buying a similar bottle at the restaurant. He called the morning of to confirm the corking fee, but once we got there they gave him a different(read: higher) price. And once the bill came it was once again even higher. Each employee blamed the previous one for the incorrect pricing. I was not the one picking up the bill, but I was still a little mad at the ridiculous prices. I know it’s a nice steakhouse and nice steakhouses are pricey, but this was beyond pricey. The waiter was not the fastest or brightest, but he was friendly, I’ll give him that. I was the only female at this dinner, and a coworker noticed that the waiter only talked directly to me… All. Night. I mean, I’m flattered I guess, but maybe butter up the guy who’s going to be tipping you? Or at least don’t make your customers feel awkward/uncomfortable. Just a thought. The food was good — we had a full meal of appetizers, steaks, sides, desserts and it was all very good. Not the most amazing things I’ve ever tasted, but very good. So to sum up this long winded review: decent food, but poor service, not the best location and outrageous prices. If you want a good steak at a nice restaurant go to Ruth’s Chris or Flemings instead.

This is a steakhouse with delicious and high quality food, but be prepared to pay a hefty penny for it. I give this restaurant four stars because the food was simply delicious. My group of 5 got the appetizer sampler to share. The sampler included two stuffed lobster tails that were to die for, ahi tuna, crab jakes, and jumbo shrimp. It was incredible. I’m salivating just thinking about it, but with a near $ 200 price tag for the appetizer alone, I guess it better taste that good. As for my steak, it was cooked very well. Being from Texas though, I’ve had great steaks before that weren’t nearly as expensive. Overall, the food was fantastic, but with a bill that came to more than $ 200 a person, I don’t know if this is a place for everyone. I certainly don’t think I could be a «regular.» My wallet wouldn’t allow it. ;)
