The nature is nice, and it doesn’t feel close to the city. However, I was told 3 different times that the boats have to be in by a DCR staff member, a boating in boston staff member, and the website(7, 7:15, and 7:30, respectively). Neither staff member was at all friendly about it since it seemed that me wanting to get a full hour of kayaking after sitting in traffic to get there was a huge inconvenience for them. I have been there before during the day, and the staff was pleasant.

I bought a Groupon for Boating in Boston. We decided to go to Natick. The website said the website said they were open but the park was full. Huh?! So, we called. Turns out Boating in Boston is located on DCR property and they close the parking lot when the park gets full. But we were told to call a number to see if the lot was closed. Ok, we did, and were told, they didn’t know anything about the lot being full. We get there and guess what?! Lot full/closed, reopening in 1 ½ hours. Cars were lined up on the road waiting to get in. No thanks.

Great new equipment, helpful staff that lets you get out on the water if that is what you want to do.

They have a great selection of stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks. The best deal is to buy a membership! The family membership is a bargain, especially if you buy it pre-season. We bought a 2015 family membership, which gave us use of the facilities for September 2014. We’ve already gone enough to pay for the membership in the equivalent individual rental fees. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Nice setting on Lake Cochichuate. If you are going to go a lot, buy a state park pass so you don’t have to pay parking each time.(Good at all the Massachusetts state parks!)

Went stand up paddleboarding with some friends here last weekend and had a great time! We had some wait time to get out there because most of the paddle boards were in use and there were four of us but the employees were friendly and they had two awesome dogs hanging out. Even saw a baby snapping turtle while we waited. :) There are a few connecting lakes and paddling under the roads through the little tunnels was a great little mini challenge. Went out for an hour and it was a little expensive but our friends were awesome and paid for us.

The lake is very large and there are TONS of little sections you can head into, bridges and highways to paddle under and beautiful scenery. They have tons of types of rentals from canoes and kayaks to paddle boats. The rental fees are very reasonably priced and if you rent the boat for a day, you can get a great deal. The canoes and kayaks are in great shape and they have plenty of paddles and life vests to choose from. I’ll be coming back here for many summers to come.
