I miss the old Fabric Place. Fabric stores with this type of inventory are hard to come by and Fabric Place has some beautiful fabrics; however, they are expensive, the staff is unfriendly, and for all that they do have, they still seem to be missing some options. I used to live at the old Fabric Place. I would start with the remnants which were affordable and pretty varied. They I would browse the stacks to fill in the missing pieces. At Fabric Place Basement, there are almost no remnants, and without those bargains, I’ve found that my final bill is too expensive most of time. Still when there’s not many other choices, it is nice to have a fabric store that offers so much.

I have been looking for a good fabric store since moving to metrowest — a big one with a lot of variety and was not having a ton of luck in my immediate area. As much as Joanne’s has its place the store near me is fairly dingy with a so so selection and tends to be understaffed with lengthy lines to have anything cut and runs a bit overpriced. I decided to look just a little further from home I stumbled on this gem. Recognizing the brand name from the stores of my childhood in Reading/Woburn I figured it was worth the drive to check out and I’m so glad I did. This turned out to be one of the best fabric shopping trips I’ve ever had. The store is very easy to find, traffic wasn’t even that bad at peak rush on a Friday, and there is plenty of parking not to mention it’s in a great space that is actually a basement. There is a huge selection and variety… I could spend days here. They have everything you could possibly want(quilting, clothing, crafts, home décor) and more. In addition to fabric there is an excellent(high quality!) yarn section and plenty of extras. There are also great elements that really brought me back… like the giant sift and pick button bin and zippers sold at $ 0.10 per inch. Mostly I bought fabric on this trip and was extremely happy with my finds. The prices are reasonable and affordable and the product is not ‘cheap’. It was a very personable experience. No lines and no waiting for the very friendly and helpful staff to cut or point me to find something and the owner who was out on the floor getting to know his customers and helping the staff. I loved the friendly hands on great old fashion good customer service. So yes, yes, yes. I’m in love, it’s worth the 30 minute drive for me. I will look no further and I can’t wait to go back… Again and again.

First, let me say I was in heaven. This place is huge and they carry about anything you could dream of. The owner told me it’s bigger than Mood in NYC. Everyone was very polite. I found everything I needed and then some. I was looking for wool and non stretch velvet. Found it! And I found many other things I need to go back for. I also knit, but was too hungry to check out the HUGE yarn section. Next time! I’ll never waste my time in a silly chain store again. Go with a full stomach, a full wallet, and snacks. Oh, they have a man cave area for bored spouses too. ;) I can’t wait to go back.

Fabric Place has a large selection of quilting fabric and home decorating fabric. I find the prices to be higher than some of other local fabric stores but the quality is also higher. I find the staff to be kind of grumpy, not sure why.

Great place for all things yarn, fabric, and sewing… stuff. I don’t do any of it, but I had fun picking out squares of cloth for my dog. That was the length of my enjoyment. For the ones that are die hard, you won’t be disappointed. colors are coordinated, it’s a ton of stuff in this place! Threads and buttons galore. It might be me, but .25 cents a button seems pricey. Staff is a mix, most are really nice, others are typical cat people… ROWR!

I’ve only shopped for yarn here and I really liked the place. Lots of good-quality yarn and the customer service can’t be beat. It’s a little far for me to travel but I’ll definitely come again.

I was in heaven when I walked in. I drove over an hour to get here! They closed the one in CT years before I got big into sewing so seeing the sign just made me smile. There is so much fabric it’s overwhelming, but in a really good way! :) It is very well organized and very clean! The staff was super helpful and friendly. One women took me all over the store to help me find what I was looking for and gave me awesome suggestions that I hadn’t even thought of! The prices are reasonable for whatever type of fabric you are looking for. It is competitive against the big chain stores and I’m sure you can find a bargain. It was good to go into a store that isn’t the same old fabric that you see every time you walk into the well known chain store. I will most definitely be coming back! Wish they were still in CT!

I stopped by Fabric Place today after doing a search online. I needed to find somewhere other than Jo Ann Fabrics for quantity and quality. This place is a fabric lovers heaven. The entire basement is stock full of every fabric you could find, this amazingly huge bin of buttons that were so wonderful. Several cutting tables, friendly people who work there. Decent prices. I bought a quarter of a yard for three fabrics and only paid 5.50. That is super good in my book. I will definitely come back here to do some art projects and this place made me want to get into crocheting again!!! Ill be back. That’s for sure. I love a place that gives me ideas just by browsing around quickly. Next time Ill have more time.

I can’t say enough about the customer service at this place! Janice was so incredibly helpful. She brought me into the storage area and was able to find the exact color I needed! And it was such a great price too! I would highly recommend this place and can’t say enough about the service, again! They make Joann Fabrics look like a joke. Definitely worth the trip!
