HIIT Kickboxing

Got this from groupon. This place isn’t bad for a fitness class. It’s just OK in my opinion.
PROS:
–multiple class times, at varying times
–good workout
CONS:
–no place to change
–no place to get water but the bathroom sink
–built in with a martial arts studio, so there are children everywhere
–no commoradrie amongst fellow class goers
–they have no adults running the counters. They all appear to be teenagers, so they don’t have customer service one could hope for.
–they’re a little extreme with their shoe policy. You can’t wear shoes from the outside inside, and prepare to have one of the teenagers tell you off. If you’re like me and accidentally wear them into the parking lot to grab something from you car, prepare to take them off and do the workout barefoot.
So, take what you will from it!

This class is everything you’ve wanted in a class plus more. It’s hard, and really fun! You will beg for mercy during the class but after it’s over you will count down the minutes until your next class! After all, you are paying to be challenged and you will not be disappointed here! Let me stress that there are ALL levels of fitness in this class. You won’t feel intimidated, because the people that come to the classes are the best and we all cheer each other on (who doesn’t appreciate a pat on the back once in awhile?).
What I really love about this class is that it changes, every day it’s a different muscle group and every week or every other week it changes to a different category of exercise. You will have muscle endurance for two weeks, plyometric for two weeks, core and balance for a week and this is just to name a few.
These high intensity, interval workouts are NEVER the same so you will be totally surprised every day that you come to class (It’s like having a surprise gift to open every day)! The muscle group stays the same on Mondays are chest and triceps, Tuesdays are back and biceps, Wednesdays is legs, Thursdays are shoulders and core and Fridays are full body.
In my opinion, music is a HUGE motivator and I REALLY like the UPBEAT music that’s played, it makes me want to punch the bag harder, make my legs go a little faster during floor jacks and sometimes it just makes me do a little dance.
The instructors are amazing and make sure you’re doing the exercise correctly and always give modifications. I’ve been a member for many years, it’s not just a workout place, it’s family owned and this place makes me feel like part of their family.

If you’re looking for a great overall fitness program, this is it. Some of the benefits of HIIT Kickboxing include mental focus, discipline, core strength, muscle endurance, balance, agility, weight loss and feeling better throughout the day.
The program is divided up into weekly topics, such as plyometrics (explosive movement), strength training, muscle endurance, agility, kickboxing, core and balance. Each day of the week covers a different muscle group. The variation in the program is very effective because the body doesn’t have a chance to get too comfortable with one type of workout.
Some examples of the gear used in class are the Wavemaster punching bag, dumbells, kettlebells, elastic bands, medicine balls, stability balls, sandbags, agility ladders, chairs, and more. Many of the most difficult exercises challenge you to use your own body weight.
The instructors all know their stuff, are certified group fitness trainers, and, in the case of the head instructor, a 3^rd degree black belt in Jiu Jitsu. They often explain the specific benefit of each exercise performed in class, and always emphasize safety and proper form. They are prepared to handle small and large groups of people, and can help beginners while challenging the more advanced students.
If you’re looking for a martial arts program, this is not it. However, jiu jitsu is taught at the same facility. If you’re a body builder, this is probably not going to give you huge size gains, but you will be more fit and balanced overall.

This class is amazing! I’ve been doing it for 5 years now and have experienced a lot of success from coming. I’ve lost over 80 pounds by coming! I go 4 – 5 times a week, sometimes even doubling up on classes when there are back to back classes offered. I’ve never done the same class twice as it is always changing! The instructors are great and personable, supportive and always helpful. They show you how to do the exercise appropriately and offer appropriate modifications if you need it. I would recommend anyone to at least try this class once and I guarantee after the first class you’ll be hooked!

Instructors are amazing! The program itself is great too! It is great for anyone from beginner to workout pros who are looking for a new challenge! I would highly suggest Total Body Shaping to anyone.

Love these classes! I’ve been going for over a year and don’t think I’ve ever had the same class twice. The program is well structured to give you a full body workout, and to push you to your limits, regardless of your fitness level. Instructors make the classes accessible to beginners but also show progressions to continue to make it challenging. The music and the mix of movements and equipment keep it fun and never routine or boring. Absolutely worth it.

I am an avid exerciser and have tried every type of workout available. I have to say that Metrowest Academy of Jiu Jitsu’s Total Body Shaping classes are my favorite. The combination of muscle work, cardio, and boxing keeps the classes exciting and varied. The instructors are the heart and soul of the program – Paul (the owner), Jane, and Jodi do a fantastic job keeping the class engaged and inspired from start to finish. While I am not a morning person, I am happy to get up at the crack of dawn for a TBS workout that will get my day off to the right start. They offer classes in the mornings and evenings to fit the schedules of both working professionals and stay at home parents, which I appreciate. I am grateful for all they do to help me stay motivated and in shape!
