Ok place, nice people, not a mainstream place, clean and friendly, food was ok but menu selections didnt thrill me.

We arrived at 11:30 in the afternoon for lunch and saw only two other people in the restaurant. People started swarming in exactly at 12:00. The food was delicious. I would recommend the hand pulled noodles and burgers.

Maybe hand pulled noodle joints are just not my thing. I didn’t enjoy my experience here at all. I’m not talking about just the food. We were seated right in front of the door and my kids were freezing cold. The servers were not tentative to our needs at all. It was a little busy and they were not able to handle it at all. Even the chefs had to come out in jackets to help serve food. Food was not good for my tastes. The pork belly was sliced extremely thin(think cold cuts thin) and the preserved veggies were damn salty! I love salty foods to begin with and even I thought they were salty as heck. Fried dumplings were cute… very small portion. I won’t be back. They are lucky to be on route 9 where their place is highly visible and suckers like me will go in at least once.

Sorry to write this review but the food they offer is just not really shaanxi. The cold skin noodle doesn’t have much flavor. The cold dishes were ok, but the gluten was too salty. And the sesame soup was really sweet. I really hope they can do better.

Very authentic Shaanxi flavor. It’s amazing I can get these outside of China. 岐山臊子面,水盆羊肉,肉夾馍,凉皮, you name it!

This is traditional Shaanxi(pronounced Shan-see) cuisine. It is delicious, but not what you might expect from«Chinese Food.» It is spicy, flavorful, authentic food with ingredients you might not see in an Americanized Chinese food restaurant. If you are up for something different and very very flavorful, give them a try, the food is really good. Vegetable dumplings — excellent Stir-Fried Celery Ginkgo Nuts and White Fungus — really flavorful, though I find that I’m not a fan of ginkgo nuts. Ma Po Tofu… — I could eat all day everyday

I admit, asian restaurants in a strip mall with terracotta displays scream for«non authentic asian» food. I shouldn’t be biased anymore because I enjoyed my time at ShaanXi. One star removed due to the spicy kung pao entrée. I asked waitress what chicken dish I can order for my daughter and she suggested Kung Pao. She told me that she can make it non spicy. Good thing I tried it first because the peppercorn numb my entire tongue. Their version of the hand pulled noodle is better than Gene’s flatnoodle because the garlic doesn’t overpower the spices. The cold noodle is alright, the texture reminds me of eating pig’s ear(crunchy and chewy). The Chinese burger is nothing more than pita bread with pulled pork. If you like spicy food, you don’t have to travel to Ctown for authentic asian food.

Cold skin noodles – very bland; it’s not bad but definitely not tasty Pita bread soaked in lamb soup – very little lamb pieces, but overall okay. Qishan noodles– We like the texture of the noodles, but personally not so much its taste. Chinese burger– I like the pita bread, but the shredded pork is way too fatty and oily. Overall the quality is soso, might return only to try out their sauteed spicy chicken

I am so disappointed in this place. First of all service. The waiters are all good but can do something about their spoken language. I understand they are all hard working immigrants(I am one myself) but please, try to learn the language you are doing business with. Not judging … but opining what would help you. Food. I have been to many Xian style restaurants in NYC and Gene’s Flatbread in Woburn. I have never had such a bland hand pulled noodles before. Bland. tasteless…not spicy… not even enough salt. I ordered some Lamb ribs… one of the most expensive dishes in the menu. The dish was full of Lamb fats. Ok. When I order Lamb ribs. I do expect some fat and fatty meat. But not an entire dish full of fat. The lamb skewers were good but tiny in quantity. I wish them good luck. Lots of people seem to like the food. But this place is not for me.

It took them more than 30 minutes to serve 2 dishes and one of them(yolk braised tofu) was terrible.

I will never go there again. The food is just okay, but the service is really bad. They forgot my order and gave me that attitude.

I’d give 3.5 star. 4 stars I have given to some nice restaurant. It has the Xian Gourmet style, but just not authentic enough. Noodle was too stick, and it broke easily. They have roast lamb, which is nice. Lots of parking out side. They also got some sculpture as decoration.

It’s my first time for the Shaanxi cuisine. I need time to train my tongue for this type of food.

This is a superb Chinese restaurant featuring the cuisine of the region around Xian. I went to Xian years ago, and the tastes at Shaanxi Gourmet took me right back via the flavored and selections. This is a great addition to Boston’s range of Chinese cuisines, and I will definitely return.

Xi huan, wo xi huan! Stopped for dinner on a whim. Was impressed by the friendly and helpful waitstaff. They patiently went through the menu explaining the origins and describing what was unfamiliar. I went with the small bowl of qishan noodles and an order of crispy dumplings. The flavors were complex and textures varied. On my next visit I will bring friends so I can sample a few more items from the menu.

This is an excellent restaurant serving authentic cuisine of Shannxi province. Loved the vegetable dumplings, qishan style home made noodles and vegetable dumplings and stir fried green beans. The restaurant itself us clean and simply decorated and the help is enthusiatic. We highly recommend this place. Just don’t expect egg foo young or American style Chinese food

I came back for a lunch. We had different dishes, including cold noodles, the spicy burger, lamb skewer, pancake, and the beans. I liked everything. The texture of the bean dish was great and I enjoyed the garlic flavor. I haven’t had cold noodle before and the texture of the rice noodles were fantastic.

Five, 5 Big Stars! Check my distribution I don’t hand these things out lightly. Shaanxi Gourmet is pure, there are no American Chinese dishes, zero, zip, nada, «Méiyu». This alone makes it a destination restaurant. A large part of the menu items are on the spicy side, you have been warned. Location: A stripmall on route 9. Coming from the west you have to make a nasty U turn, from the east you just have to slow down. The lot isn’t too big but it’s adequate. The entrance is guarded by two terracotta soldiers, totally harmless. The long axis of the restaurant is parallel to route 9, which affords a long set of front window tables. Facing front the right side has more seats but there are steps. The left side has more seat away from the windows. The booths are the large and can handle at least 4 people. The food: Two familiar dishes were standouts, the Spicy Fried Green Beans(4.5÷5), and the Ma Po Tofu(4⁄5)(see pics). Simple and clean executions of both dishes. A must here are noodle dishes, we had the Cold Skin Noodles(5⁄5), slightly gummy and yielding to the bite with a savory spicy sauce. There are 3 other noodle dishes we did not try. A lesser known simple dish is the Sauteed spicy Napa cabbage(5⁄5), piping hot and spicy. We had veggie dumplings(3.5÷5), these were good not a stand but as good as I’ve had lately(as in 2 days ago in Chinatown). The crispy fried dumplings(4⁄5) were more distinctive and the dumplings have open ends like Taiwanese style. Something that may be novel to some are the Chinese Burgers(pork), there are two flavors: Lazhi Style(3.5÷5), Qishan Style(4⁄5), the«bun» is more like a wheat English Muffin. Both are tasty but I prefer the Qishan Style. My big 3: 1) Hot and Sour Potato Shreds(5⁄5), this is a common dish in the US now but these are very thinly sliced with a distinctive sauce. 2) Double Cooked Pork Bellies with Fried Wheat Cake«Chips”(5/5), the chips are crunchy and the pork belly is soft making a nice combination. This dish isn’t as spicy as some of the others but it is still very picante. We just loved it. 3) Thin Sliced Pig Ears(5⁄5) in a chili sauce, this was a hot dish in other Chinese cuisines this is sometimes a chilled salad, this interpretation was very much to my liking, although the leftovers were delicious out the fridge the next day! Last but not least: The GeLe Mountain Spicy Chicken(with bones) was very good(3.5÷5) but it’s slightly challenging to eat even if you are expert with chopsticks. Eating them with a fork would be more difficult. I would have liked a little more of the celery in the dish as well. The Japanese Style Eel(Unagi) was enjoyed by others more than me but I liked it well enough(3.5÷5). I thought the eel medallions were over glazed. The Qishan Style Pork Ribs(3.5÷5) were on the cold menu, but ours were served warm. They tasted fine and the rib meat yielded to the bite as it should be, but they were better after being in our fridge the next day. * parking: lot but it could get busy and be careful entering onto route 9. * servers were very pleasant and attentive, water glasses were filled often. * Please don’t trash this place if you only like American Chinese food. Wrong place for U. * Please don’t trash this place if you had better in China these guys are putting a very good product out, they are as good as the other X’ian restos I’ve been to in Chicago and NYC it’s still new and shiny place…

I went there with all my family last weekend. The food there is absolutely amazing. I was born in xi’an and lived there for 27 years. Since I left xi’an, I miss the shaanxi food a lot. Especially when I came to US. I even tried to do it at home which really took a lot of time. The food in this grand opening restaurant remind us of the memories in xi’ is very good, absolutely shaanxi taste. We had tried other shaanxi and xi’an restaurant in New be honest, this one is good. Others are really fast food restaurant, very small and barely be able to find a seat. But this one is a clean, nice and a real restaurant. You can have your meal at the table with all your family at ease. The waiter there is really kind and sweet. We ordered Cold skin noodles, Chinese burger, qishan style homemade noodles, pita bread soaked in lamb soup, spicy hot oil seared hand pulled noodles, other dishes and soup. every one of them is parents liked them very much. qishan style homemade noodles is my favorite noodle in shaanxi, I love it. And the restaurant gave me a surprise. the qishan style homemade noodle is as much the same as in qishan. But the noodles can be a little bit harder. I love this restaurant. I already missed there.
