hello, my name is X and i’m a taco whore. i had the carnitas taco’s. the meat is oh so tender. it is almost like eating butter. i pass by this place on my way home from work, so my order was a takeout. the restaurant is near the Nasty City police station so i don’t worry about the gangbanging.

These torta/​fruit salad/​smoothie joints are popping up all over the place, especially in the Southbay. They all seem to offer the same basic menu, except this place also offers burritos, french fries, and even ceviche.
I tried the ham and lomo (pork tenderloin) torta. This torta is huge. You can easily share it with a friend and still be satisfied. I would have preferred the roll be toasted a bit, but other than that, it was a good torta.

…no, that was not a naughty comment overheard at the last Unilocal party… it was about the torta I ate at El Paraiso in National City. Gigantic!
El Paraiso is your average torta ‘n’ smoothie shop on Highland Avenue. Standouts include:
–nice outdoor seating
–clean interior
–large sized tortas (2 servings, honest)
