I think this buffet is okay. It’s better than the one in City Heights. I think this buffet needs to be clean. The food is fine and I love the dessert.

This place is as advertised. You get decent food for all you eat. What more do you want? Some reviewers give this place poor ratings, why? Because they’re obtuse. You don’t expect 3 stars Michelin at this place. You get what you pay for. Learn how to rate appropriately. And go look up Michelin, I doubt it if you people know what it means.

I came here with my friend Zack Bernazzoli because he said it was his favorite place. He said he liked the quality of the food and the fact that he could eat as much as he wanted. I could tell he liked it because we stayed there for about two hours while he tried everything. I didn’t like the food, and I was grossed out by how much Zack ate. I will definitely not be coming back here, especially with Zack.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever been to ! The food is disgusting the chicken was completely raw and the food looks like it’s been sitting there for hours. I also got up to get«food» and when I came back to sit the waitress had giving my table away to other people and had no where to sit afterwards. They really have cheap prices but now I see why ! I’ll never eat at another Hometown buffet restaurant again.

Awful, terrible food. Warm sodas. No ice when I went. No one takes care of the place. The soft serve machine’s handles were sticky. Only come here for breakfast. You can’t really mess up breakfast food.

Ovation Brands filed for Chapter 11 protection(on 03÷07÷16) for all its brands, which include HomeTown Buffet. I’m not exactly shocked, as the dining experience there can no longer be described positively. Maybe Golden Corral will take over the soon-to-be-closed locations? One can only hope.

Went here with my family since we haven’t been here for years. And now I see why I’m never coming back. Cust service was good. The front house people were nice and the servers were nice even if we didn’t need one. The food seemed alright. I wasn’t that impressed us, nothing seemed that delicious. Tried mostly everything and to be honest the chicken were the best things by far… My son kept spitting out the teriyaki chicken rice and shrimp popcorn i wondered why but made sure he ate anyways cause j don’t ever want him hungry. As a mother I like to make sure my son is well fed… What was nice they had cotton candy ice cream desserts but still nothing really that great. The food bland, cheap tasting, the plates dirty didn’t seem like things were cleaned that well. Especially when j went to the bathrm to wash my hands to find a homeless woman using the bathrm as a shower. I understand she needed to use the rearm for hygiene but we’re eating here and it’s a restaurant so from that I felt pretty disgusted. And know I have nothing against the homeless but o just don’t like to see that and think of all the thing serve touched or what they’ve washed on the bathrm so I walked out… Nice to see they had an icee machine hit it was okay not smooth as usual. We left at 8 ish before they closed at 830 when we got home my 2 yr old said his tummy was hurting j didn’t think much of it till he randomly vomited thats when immediately I thought f of everything I thought was not clean. My husband didn’t believe me and was gonna stay a returning customer even after I said we shouldn’t go there anymore. I said if he throws up one more time then uh ugh never again then guess what he did over and over I am never trust going back

We were there yesterday and when we arrived the girl at the front was friendly, no complaints. Sat down and even the server was great! My issues were this: No ice in either of the machines and I informed 2 people and neither got ice… We were there for like 30 mins and even when we left there was still no ice. The icee machine was broken which seems to be a reoccurring thing every visit we have. The Mac and cheese looked NASTY, like it had been sitting for hours without being stirred or switched out.

Came here wanting a great American buffet and all I got was garbage. The food was well below par, and what’s worse is we saw spiders on the salad bar table. Immediately turned our appetite. I wouldn’t go back if they paid me to eat here.

–10 stars! This place is garbage! Stay away! Water from leaking” pipes” on the floor where the food is, dirty food stations, kids running around… Never again will I dine at any Hometown buffet. Always thought Hometown was not a great place to eat, but I somehow get dragged here every now and then.

As I sit here on my bed drinking an antacid we discuss the difference from what it was to what it has become Hone Town Buffet and can’t understand why!!! We went there many years ago and loved it but tonight to our surprise the place smells dirty, the clean coffee cups had lipstick marks, the cappuccino machine gave me mostly water, and the food was lousy. It’s a shame that so much food is put out without flavor, old vegetables, and no care. The attention to cleanliness and customers was not there. I hope that management sees this review for a positive outcome not only for the restaurant but for the customers as well.

The person making the omelettes was really terrible. And seemed really lost. The servers walked by my table several times. Never cleared my table. I know things happen. But the place was really dead. So I saw no reason for this crap. Food is ok. You get what you pay for. But it seems like if you don’t look like a person who leaves tips you will be ignored. If you get a water cup. You will be shunned.

Nice, clean, and friendly staff(for the most part). There is a wide variety of food. It’s your typical neighborhood buffet with plenty of food, but nothing to really wow the taste buds. Beware of the ice cream despensing machine. It will malfunction and spray ice cream all over you. This recently happened to me and was offered nothing but a curt apology from one of the managers. Because of the interaction with management I’m giving it one star.

I haven’t been here since the 90s. When I used to come here, I thought I was ballin’ because buffets weren’t a luxury that I could afford as a newly minted adult who just graduated out of high school. Though the place has been updated(read: remodeled) since I’ve been here, the food seems to be the same. Buffets are a fairly inexpensive option to feed masses of people, especially among my Filipino peeps. In my case, I was there for a reception, after attending a funeral of a family friend. Hands down, I’d definitely choose HTB over the other typical option — VIP, which is located in Chula Vista. There are many food options to choose from. I pretty much stuck to the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and the cornbread stuffing. I gotta admit the fried chicken and stuffing were surprisingly good. Overall, the restaurant was fairly maintained. Staff was on hand and were kept pretty busy cleaning the tables. They definitely get high fives for that. There’s plenty of parking outside, especially since the Korean bbq place next door is no longer open. Final thoughts: Since I didn’t end up with the runs after my visit, I’d consider that a win. But, it could be another decade before I eat here again, unless there’s another funeral/baptism/reunion/graduation/whatever that I need to attend.

Haven’t been to a hometown buffet since I was a young little girl but I remember loving it just because it was a buffet. We went in for lunch which was a good price of 8.49. another 2.50 if you want a drink… Food was all really just okay… The chicken was good but both the grilled and fried chicken were a little too pink for me. Mac and Cheese was really fluidly cheesy. almost watery in consistency … Food was alright for what was there but I guess they lowered the number of options even if it is for lunch… It was just okay but not anything worth getting excited over.

So sad. what happened to this place? Went downhill so fast!!! First of all, their presentation for food sucked. got lazy and didn’t put it on the proper tray, instead used pots… Second, I enjoyed eating nothing here besides mashed potato(it was bland). My steak was all fatty, felt like I was eating lard. Pastas were dry, lastly, dessert sucked! Even my man said it was −2÷10 here! And hes usually the nice one. How can you ruin my childhood buffet like this? All of your food was either super fatty, dry or bland… This is the only HB near by, so I’ll be back if someone wants to treat me out, or I won’t be coming here and pay with my own money. waste of money. Yuck. didn’t pay to eat dry fatty yucky food… Came to get some comfort food… you disappoint me Waitress was very sweet though, one star for her!

Dinner for 2 only $ 16.99… Current special going on right now(think you need an online coupon). But, that’s not why we decided to dine here. We visited our grandpa in a rehab facility, and he was served comfort food for dinner. My covetous hubby couldn’t get the thought of comfort food out of his mind, so HOMETOWN it was. Like any chain restaurant or lower priced buffet, the food quality tends to lack. But, if you stick to the better(safer) options, you should be ok: –Corn bread drizzled with honey! Very fresh, soft and delicious. Not too bad for this buffet. –Fried chicken drumsticks! Surprisingly crispy on the outside & moist on the inside. –Stuffing, not too salty. Just drizzle it with some beef gravy, and fond memories of Thanksgiving dinners will begin to reminisce. –Steamed carrots, cooked just about right to make the perfect side dish for a toddler. –Waffle fries were actually not too bad. Not chik-fil-A quality, but still tasty. –Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies weren’t too horrible either. But not good enough to make me want to «accidentally» slide a few in my pocket. –Lasagna had a great marinara sauce that was flavorful, although the melted cheese on top was hardened. Just remove the top layer and you should be fine. There are a few items I would STAYAWAY from: –Horchata, unless you want to disappoint yourself. –Bread pudding, the one I had was way too soggy. –Cheese enchilada, the sauce wasn’t very good. Besides these not-so-great selections, I still thought there were plenty of healthy options for the kids & adults. My son ate the fresh peas, steamed carrots, sliced ham, pineapples, corn bits & mandarin oranges(canned). They didn’t charge us for him(think they start charging at 2 yrs), but even then kids are only .99 cents! Not too shabby. Most of the food items won’t tickle your fancy. But, if you know which foods to eat, it could be worth your money$$!
