If you’re looking to buy parts (that day) to keep your 1960’s and later VW running, this is the place to go. If you’re looking to socialize, make friends, pontificate or have your butt kissed, go somewhere else because friendly service is virtually non-​existent here.
I’ve been buying parts here for almost 30 years and I’ve seen/​heard the staff shoot down customers on several occasions. Sometimes it was warranted, a few times it wasn’t. If you know what you want, you’ll be okay shopping here. Be prepared for a sneer or sarcasm if you have any questions, aside from the price and/​or manufacturer of the part.

Been coming here since I was a kid, now I have my own shop (strictly aircooled) and this is the only place we trust to get quality german parts. Knowledgeable staff. Good old mom and pop volkswagen shop.

Horrible service. Place looks like a run downed warehouse inside. They have the parts you need most likely, but shopping there feel like your at an insane asylum.
The folks behind the counter will look at you like your stupid if you ask any technical questions. F$#k this place.
Just order you parts online. You’ll probably get them cheaper and you don’t have to deal with these suckas.

I can remember going here with my Dad when I was a kid and Vee Parts has not changed one bit… classic! Still my go-​to source for all things VW, incredible selection of vintage VW parts in stock and great customer service.

I have been going to Vee Parts in NC for a couple of decades. Their parts are generally quality made in Europe. I have purchased replacement parts over the years for a 1980 Rabbit, 1981 VW diesel pickup, 1986 Cabriolet, and a 2001 Jetta. Prices are competitive. Whenever possible, I order off the Internet. When I need the part ASAP, I go to Vee Parts.
As other posters have mentioned, the service generally sucks. Except for the owner, my experience has been that the employees are all Alpha Males who think that they know it all. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone but the owner smile at any customer over the span of twenty years! Like most businesses in the South Bay, service here SUCKS big time.
A recent example. I needed a fuel pump module for a 2001 Jetta. I called and one of the alpha males answered. I told him that I was looking for a fuel pump module (some literature refers to an «assembly»; it consists of the metal fuel pump, a plastic enclosure, and the float/​sending unit assembly – which is why it is referred to as an «assembly» or «module.» He then asked if I was referring to the fuel pump relay. I said that I wasn’t and was referring to the metal fuel pump, at which time he interrupted and told me that I needed the «fuel pump.» I gave him the vehicle information (again), including the specific engine code for the 2.0 liter engine (there are at least 3). He came back on the phone and told me the price (reasonable). I asked whether the unit was just the pump or the «module,» including the float. He again interrupted me before I finished and said that it «came with everything.» I later found out by going to the Internet and doing a search that that particular unit does NOT come with the float assembly, hence the lower price. Most complete fuel pump modules are around $ 250 on up. The price he quoted me was $ 160 and change.
After he mentioned the price, I asked him what brand this particular pump assembly was. He then asked, «What brand do you want?» I replied that a VDO or Bosch would be great. He said that VDO did not make a pump. He said that what they had was a Siemens-​VDO. He then said that Bosch also did not make a pump. What? Hello!!! Isn’t «Siemens-​VDO a «VDO»? Bosch most certainly DOES make a pump for my application! In any event he ended our conversation by stating that they had the Siemens…
Go figure! Just be prepared to NOT be treated very well and being told what you need. Also, you will be corrected whether what they tell you is true or not.
If I were you, if the like part is available elsewhere at around the same price, go get it there and save yourself some grief and keep you blood pressure in the normal range!!!

Great place I was able to find what I needed at a good price.

Parts are decently priced but customer service SUCKS!!! They gave me the wrong parts and then argued that they gave me the right ones. I was rewiring my whole bug and I needed a new fuse block and they gave me one that was too short and then told me that is what it called for… I had to show them my wiring diagram so that they would believe me… piss poor service and non knowledgeable staff… one star… if you know what you are doing then go here and just get parts but if you have any questions there are far better shops… look at my reviews.

They have a good amount of parts in stock, but the service could use a smile if you don’t know what your looking for you may be looked at like and idiot. Just remember there is a restocking fee if it doesn’t work out. And some parts are made for your model car but just won’t fit because a lot of the parts are imported from Mexico.

well, where to start…
I’ve been going here since before the internets and as a youngster it seemed like a parts heaven for my bug.
It has and probably will remain a dusty old school parts source that the owner refuses to modernise but that’s fine with me. what matters most is SERVICE, KNOWLEDGE and understanding.
unfortunately, evidence of these traits has been painfully missing on my most recent trips there. just watching them help other people has me cringing and i feel compelled to interject.
they may have the knowledge but it seems they want to keep it to themselves or sound condescending when they speak.
btw. having a cigarette tucked in your ear and using foul language within earshot of kids is terms for a reprimand in my book so i figure this guy behind the counter is related to the owner.
personally, i’d drive to la mesa and see Rudy at Discount Foreign. way cool and patient though a bit of a throw back to the 60’s

I have visited a number of times now and it’s a hit or miss with service and parts. Though it is the first place to look for older VW’s and BMW’s in the Southbay, beware that they aren’t always sweet (but who is, we all have bad days). On a good day if you need, ask for advice, bad day grab your parts and head out. They have been reasonably helpful with my rebuild.

this is the place to go to if you’re looking for oem parts for your older volkswagen. what am i doing here… i don’t even own a vw. still, don’t let the name fool you, they also carry oem parts for older bmw’s. i’ve got an 88 e30, and was surprised to find that they carried a few parts that i needed. i’m guessing this must be the place to go to, only because i always see mechanics coming in for, or ordering parts here.
there’s nothing fancy or showy about this place. it looks like a rundown warehouse with dusty parts; but seriously, everything is new (new meaning a 20 + year old part that has never been used) and in excellent condition. the staff is knowledgeable, and has always been helpful. their expertise is mostly vw’s, but i won’t fault them for that, they’ve never steered me wrong.
some of the parts that i found were turn signal assemblies, a side marker, and a power window switch. i really wasn’t expecting them to have them on hand, but surprisingly they did. prices here are better than what you’ll find at the dealer, but that’s only if they have the item in stock. i needed both turn signal assemblies, but unfortunately they only had one. they had to order the other one for me (i think from a dealership), and it was about $ 10 more than the one they sold me on hand. still, this is usually my first stop before checking online, or at a dealership.
