Best food in town and great prices! The pizza is cooked in a wood burning oven and they have homemade specials everyday.

I accidentally ordered from A-1 Pizza in the same plaza when I meant to order from here. Big mistake, there is a night and day difference between the two places, so I will be making some comparisons as they are basically right next to each other. This restaurant is the only wood fired place in Naugatuck as it was grandfathered in, I guess the health department doesn’t allow it anymore or some BS like that. The place is clean inside and the woman who rang us up was friendly, I think she is John’s wife. So after accidentally ordering from A-1 Pizza, I had to get a pizza from here too. So glad I did. This is great pizza, not the bland frozen-esque junk from A-1. Crispy and savory, this is a darn good pie. Toppings are full of flavor and aren’t skimped out on. This place is unique in Naugatuck and is one of the best pizzas the borough has to offer, check it out.

The pizza was very greasy and the cheese smelled so bad! Later on that night my 12yr old was sick to his stomach never again!!!

To be fair I’m writing this while I wait for food. This place is gross. There are flies in here and the bathroom is small and unclean. Wish I hadn’t ordered here. No comment about the food.

I could not figure out if it was my plate or the place that smells of dirty dish water. That is all I could smell while I was eating. The fries were good burger was fair. The both toilets were clogged and overflowing into the restaurant.

So as I read these reviews, I wondered if people are talking about the same John’s. There are two John’s restaurants in the area and I think people are confusing the two. The John’s I go to next door to Dunkin donuts has never been flooded, I go there twice a week and it certainly doesn’t smell like old milk. I have been going to John’s since I was a kid and they have the best food at a good price. I love the brick oven pizza, I ask for it extra thin and it always comes out perfect. I also love their soups and chicken parm dinner which comes with the bread and soup or salad. Keep up the good work Johns!

I was reading some of these reviews and wondering if these people were in the same resturarant as I… My husband and i go to John’s Restaurant at least twice a month. They have the Best Works Pizza i’ve ever had. Yes, the place is not fancy at all, but you’re not paying for fancy. The food is wonderful and the prices are great!!!

Yes, of course Modern in New Haven is better. And I’m a New Yorker, so I can be pizza centric. I think this place was a pleasant surprise. The thin crust, non greasy, brick oven pizza is wonderful. It satisfies my expectations for above average pizza. I don’t feel like I am settling in the least when I come here.

Went here for a birthday party today. First off, the whole resteraunt stunk of expired milk that had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, i actually had to excuse myself and step outside a few times because the sound was unbearable. This place flooded a few months back and mold was visible on the flooring along with water stains on the chairs. The waitress did not bring enough plates to the tables and brought out PAPERPLATESANDPLASTICFORKS !!! Then when the food came out it was greasy beyond belief; my fiancé and i got sick off of only 2 pieces of pizza !!! if i were the town of naugatuck i would inspect this place and have the health inspector down STAT !!!

This family owned business that has become a staple of Naugatuck like one of its competitors. The owners(I assume) are accented with the bitterness of old age and the spitefulness of a long time customer service person. It adds to the ambiance of the place. It is a you get what you get type of place. They don’t need to impress or give cheap thrills for their food. Simply because it is good. The waiters/cashier is always happy hearted and uplifting. Always giggly in good spirits. They are do it them selves type of guys that say Forget about the people that don’t like our food. My favorite from Johns has always been the lasagna and their grinders are also great. I frequent there to buy dough to make my own pizza. I love this place it is original and old timey.

No high chairs, so we had to put the car seat in the booth and move a person to the end in a chair. The waiter came over and said we couldn’t have someone sit there. They suggested we move to a table rather than a booth, and I kid you not, push two chairs together and then balance the carseat on them with the baby in it. Needless to say, we packed up and left.

John’s Pizza does not look like much from the outside. It’s set next to a Dunkin’ Donuts and a Family Market, across the street from a Friendly’s. When you walk in, there is no host or hostess and it’s as if you’ve come in through a back door simply because there is no one to greet you and the tables are right there in front of you. I went there last night with my girlfriend, hoping for some delicious«wood-fired grilled pizza» as their handmade sign out front advertises. Boy, were we in for a surprise. The waitress came over to drop menus to us as she was bringing drinks to another table. She was multitasking the entire time we were there, which is exactly what a waitress should do. Within minutes she had taken our drink menus, nothing fancy, just a water and a diet coke, although they had Shiraz which is my favorite wine and I have not found that at many pizza places or Italian restaurants. We decided on a chef salad with italian and peppercorn dressings on the side, and a small pizza with red sauce, broccoli, sliced tomatoes, and ricotta. Our salad came out within minutes as well. Nothing fancy, pretty comparable to any chef salad I had ever had. Our pizza came out shortly after. Now who are we kidding, this was the main event, what we were really looking forward to. And it exceeded our expectations! I love a thin crust. The crust on this pizza was delicious, thin, light, fluffy, and tasted like a wood-fired crust should taste! I was really impressed. Now, a pizza can get pretty wet and messy when you have red sauce AND sliced tomatoes on it. This pizza was not too wet, nor was it too messy, even with the added moisture from ricotta! Instead each bite was full of flavor, chewy crust, no toppings were falling off so each bite had each of the ingredients in it. The waitress was so attentive that my water glass was just below half full and she was bringing me a new full glass. As soon as I took my last bite of pizza she was right there sweeping my plate away for me. She was really great. The whole experience was a positive one. A great night out with a good friend, excellent food, friendly environment, and great service. I would highly recommend John’s restaurant if you are ever in the area and looking for some wood-fired pizza.
