The best! I love the eggplant and the chicken cutlet with hot pepper & prosciutto grinder!

Nardelli’s is okay, the sandwiches are filled well. But there is a definite difference between this and other authentic Italian delis — the biggest is the freshness of what’s put between the slices of bread. I prefer the meats and cheeses sliced fresh for my sandwich, not sitting for God knows how long in chunks in a deli case and there is absolutely a noticeable difference in taste! The bread is average, nothing special. There’s another Italian deli a few towns away that brings their bread in fresh from Arthur Avenue every day. Their eggplant, chicken parm, etc. is actually in chaffing dishes on a hot bar, made fresh daily. A chicken cutlet that’s been sitting cold in the case, microwaved, covered in sauce and mozz and called«chicken parmesan» just doesn’t cut it for me. But, it’s decent food and convenient, but it’s not my first choice.

Grew up eating here with my folks. After nearly a decade out of state I was relieved to find Nardelli’s still standing strong on Maple Street. Same great food and service I remembered as a kid; huge portions, and selections; the scent of Italian food as you approach the door; all great memories. The only thing I don’t remember is the chicken-parm grinder coming with lettuce, tomato and mayo? Either way blessed to have them in the neighborhood.

My $ 9.00 grinder was horrendous. The bread was microwaved. If you microwave bread, then you know it gets a soft rubbery texture. I ordered a chicken parm that had sauce that was way too salty. If you want a overpriced microwaved rubbery grinder, then go to nardellis, otherwise stay away.

For the same reason i dont understand why anyone would go to pizza hut or papa johns, i dont know why anyone would go anywhere else for sandwiches and grinders either, i mean this place is it. Everything looks so good i actually have to think for a while about what i really want, also the cannolis in this place are delicious, a little expensive, but hey thats cannoli for you

We had never been there before and we just stopped in for a meal to go. It was outstanding the grinder was large and full of flavor. We highly recommend this place

I ordered a sandwich with tomato, mozzarella and balsamic vinegar. They straight up put three crappy slices of tomato and three tiny slices of mozzarella. It was basically a bread sandwich. It’s not an Italian deli like people told me. It was a bummer for me that they had no spinach, broccoli rabe, sun dried tomatoes. Gave them three stars because I know that they can do better but my sandwich was just lacking. I would be a regular if they got better vegetables and got rid of the salad mix.

I grew up in the Naugatuck Valley and Nardelli’s was ALWAYS the best sandwich you could buy! I hear from many old friends that they are still excellent. Can’t wait to visit up home soon and Nardelli’s will be way up high on my list of places to visit and eat while in the area!

Pretty good. The size of the sandwiches has gone down over the years, but maybe I just got too big. I like the chicken salad and the various pastas. Expensive though.

Been coming since I was little and I love their sandwiches as much today as I did then. I get everything on my turkey grinder and it’s soooo yummy! The people that work there are super nice and nothing has changed.

I’m a Plank Rd disciple, however, now that I live in Naugatuck I will likely eschew the Waterbury locations(I never drive by them anymore). No matter the venue, I rarely deviate from roast beef with lettuce, tomato, onion, olives, mayo, and provolone. The tomato mozzarella salad is pretty damn good as well. Not even gonna lie, Nardelli’s is my go to when I’m too lazy to cook. This one is a little cramped inside, but I generally take my stuff to go so who cares, really.

Great deli that delivers consistently good sandwiches. I’ve visited multiple locations and never had a bad experience. And they are open much later(i.e., 8 or 9 pm) than other delis which is extremely convenient for my schedule. They have impressive deli menu of many freshly made Italian specialities and sandwiches. Can’t go wrong with any choice. Love that they frequently introduce new choices to their menu. A must try!!!

Love this place! Awesome grinders and service. You shouldn’t try and fix something that isn’t broken and this place does it right! So glad there is more than one location that keeps up the standards of the original!

I choose this place for dinner instead of Subway because their choices are more fresh an unique and its a local business. I ordered a breaded chicken cutlet with mozzarella on a soft roll. They heated up up the cutlet and the sandwich I asked the food prepper guy if I could have the marina sauce on the side and he heated that for me too. I took it to go and ate it in my car. It was a good thing that I did because the marina sauce made me drink it. It was that tasty.

Meh… precooked food they throw on a grider after they put it in the microwave. That’s not too Italian to me. Torinos is way better.

I like this place and I’m glad that the grinder went down so much in size, because now I feel better about myself when I eat them. My one complaint, and it’s a big one, is that everything is always so messy. This week I got a sandwich that was barely wrapped and had the sandwich toppings falling out, but worse than that, I got some spicy, oily, cheese-stuffed peppers, which were placed in a fold-over styrofoam container, so the oil was all over my bag, sandwich, car– everything, immediately.

Found this place on my food app, «TV Food Maps» and so glad I stopped while passing through. The deli display is quite impressive, everything looked very fresh and great presentation on display… and a little overwhelming if you’ve never been here before.(But not a bad thing, just took me a while to pick what I wanted). I really wanted to go traditional w/my order and grab an Italian grinder but never saw a crab and shrimp salad sandwich before, so why not! Fresh bread is just as important as what goes inside the sandwich. And the salad wasn’t watery or runny, which kept the bread perfect all the way till the last bite. Also took Apricot Jammies for the road, which were also amazing.

This place was a favorite back in high school. It’s an institution, but unfortunately seems to be living on it’s past reputation. They changed the bread years ago, and have been slowly lowering the portions. I love tradition, but only when the current place warrants the accolades. I used to recommend this place as highly as I did Pepe’s for Pizza… Now… silence…

Seriously though, one of the best Italian sammich I’ve ever eaten was at this place. I seriously wish they’d open one of these spots in Tampa. I’d gain so much weight. When you bite into one of their Italian grindahs, you can taste each of the individual meats, and the provolone cheese is so sharp, it will cut your tongue. And the bread… Goodness, you just can’t get bread like that south of the Mason-Dixon Line. If you’re unfortunate enough to live in this underwhelming city, you can at least be proud of one thing – NARDELI’S. I give the grinder a 4.5 on my Italian sammich scale.

They know how to build a grinder! It can be a bit overwhelming your 1st time as there are so many choices & the customers are regulars– they are decisive & quick about ordering. Take your time to peruse the menu rather than being hasty & miss something you later wish you hadn’t! The rolls are very fresh, the mix of onions, cucumbers, oregano, s & p, oil & vinegar mix that they add to your grinder is a must! As are the hot peppers if you like it a bit spicy. The cold cuts & cheeses are fresh, sliced to order & piled nicely onto your grinder. I only had a cold grinder served on butcher’s paper, w chips & a Snapple. I have not had any of the hot grinders, salads or other choices or any of the sides showcased in front of the deli but I won’t hesitate next time. Herr’s chips, sodas, Snapple etc too.
