I only went to eat here once, with my wife soon after they opened in either 2009 or 2010. Neither of us were impressed. My experience was similar to the many 1 and 2 star reviews others have since written: clean facility and polite staff, but very slow despite not being busy at all, food quality mediocre at best and usually they are out of half of the items on the menu or include about half the items you would expect on standard dishes. I never went back. I drive by it many times per week day or night and it never seems they are that busy. I’m surprised they’ve lasted this long. Pass them by.

Really good food at a great price. The lunch menu is full sized portions at a price you can’t get fast food for. The salsa is super fresh and home made. So happy it’s a few blocks from home. This is super casual nothing fancy but good solid food.

I do have to say that I was VERY disappointed. We have been frequenting this place for a few years now. Over the last year it’s gone downhill. A few months back we stopped in for dinner, while waiting the chips and salsa are provided. When asking for a second basket of chips to go with dinner of course they were provide, FOR A FEE. I should mention there wasn’t a heads up about this until the bill came. After that evening I decided to boycott Tequila’s for a while. We decided to give it a try again this past weekend, keeping in mind that we won’t order an additional basket of chips unless we absolutely wanted them considering the fee. Myself and my husband ordered the same dish we always get, arroz con carne. Once the dish arrived there wasn’t any avocado as there used to be. Granted, avocado has gotten a little pricey but c’mon, who removes the extras without a heads up. Okay. We’ll move forward. My daughter decides to get a burrito, per her request, hold the beans and avocado, add lettuce and tomato. Again, we weren’t aware of the surprise extra fees until the bill came. Apparently, we get charged for the lettuce and tomato but don’t you think maybe holding the beans and avocado can be an equal exchange? Or maybe since we held the avocado but yet PAID for it, it could have been added on to the plate that used to have it? UNREAL. I won’t be visiting Tequila Grill anytime in the near future. It’s a shame that this place will eventually shut it’s doors because of the nickel and diming.

Came here one night when we were craving Mexican. The margaritas were strong and delicious! My boyfriend and I both ordered enchiladas, the portion was great and it was amazing! And the waiter was very friendly! We will definitely be coming here again!

I ordered lunch there today on my ½ hour lunch break. When I called to place the order it seemed as though everything I asked for they did not have, I asked about crunchy tacos they only had soft tacos which I do not prefer and was extremely shocked that a Mexican joint wouldn’t have crunchy tacos?! I then asked for shredded beef chimichangas which is amongst the most popular type of chimi, but they also didn’t have that instead they offered steak, chicken or ground beef so I chose the steak within seconds I was told they did not have steak and that my only choices would be ground beef or chicken. I ultimately picked the ground beef, I then asked that they substitute the refried beans for black beans well guess what they had no black beans! Seriously!!? When I went to get the food I also added on a side of salsa and pico de gallo. The chimi ended up having sour cream on which I was really annoyed by as I asked for no sour cream and it was repeated back to me, it was very sloppy, the beans were not refried beans at all instead they looked like they came out of a can and in my opinion should have been put in a separate container being that they were extremely watery. The salsa was absolutely disgusting it tasted like ketchup with tomatoes, cilantro and onion YUCK!!! The only thing I really enjoyed were the chips. I normally don’t do the review thing but I love Mexican food and I was extremely disappointed! Save yourself the disappointment and go to one of the other local Mexican establishments such as Tequilas in Waterbury or Watertown or Senior Pancho’s. I hate that they share the same name with the other ones(Waterbury and Watertown) because they are delicious and they’re different owners. Sad to say I will not be returning!

I freakin love this place. I always get take-out but their soft tacos are so delicious it sometimes feel as though it’s not real life. I’m actually gonna order from them right now.

Very pleasant Mexican spot in Naugy! I strongly recommend the enchiladas with the chipotle sauce(if you don’t mind a little spice). You can mix Margarita flavors! very delicious. on Mondays any beer $ 2.50 Wait staff very friendly. There is not much to the décor of the place, kind of plain. Tres Leche for dessert– A Must! I think whenever I have eaten here this is the only option they had available anyway.

Came in for lunch and was pretty disappointed, I ordered the Arroz con pollo and my bf ordered the steak fajitas. The Arroz con pollo was just that, rice and chicken with a ton of melted cheese. This is not the traditional Arroz con pollo we are all familiar with. The steak fajitas where a joke, it might as well been vegetarian fajitas, the steaks slices were thinner the tracing paper and therefore burned. The only thing good was the rice… oh and they ran out of guac… psh

Went here with a group of friends because it was close by and we wanted Mexican food. It was kinda empty, there was only one other table occupied. We ordered margaritas and even though we all asked for either salt or sugar, they all came with nothing on them. I also had to ask for water. Once we ordered, it took more than 45 mins to get our food. We got nachos, fajitas, and chimichangas. No one seemed to enjoy their meals. The chimi’s had nothing but steak and beans in them. They were soggy and bland. The beans were canned. Also, expensive for what it was. Better off saving your money for taco bell.

Wow. Where to begin. Yes, the staff is very nice. We were seated right away with our menus. We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally our server came over so we ordered a drink and our 2 orders of nachos with the bean soup to start– it was to have avocado and nachos(something like that) on top.(THEREWERE3TABLESTHERE– INCLUDINGUS(another table left shortly after our arrival. THEREWERE2WAITSTAFF.) After @30 min, our soup and margarita came. Margarita: tasted OK but the salt crystals were so huge u could prob chip a tooth. Bummer cuz I usually like tasting the salt. Soup: It was OK, salty. It was a brown bowl of soup with the toppings on the bottom. Despite its mediocre taste the presentation was pretty bad. Had they actually put the toppings on top, the flavor would have been much more complimentary. Instead it was a bowl of brown viscous stuff with big lumps representing the avocado and the chips. Kinda gross actually. After @ 45 min I very kindly instructed the waiter that if the nachos couldn’t be delivered in the next 5 min, we were canceling our order & leaving.(This is only an order of nachos people.) All other tables had been eating. AGAIN, there were only 2 other tables, &2 wait staff. He was kind about it but seemed perplexed as to why we might b unhappy. He did, however, comp us the unfinished soup– very kind. In 5 min our order appeared.(ANDNO I HAVENEVERDONETHISKINDOFTHINGBEFORE!) The beef one order was pretty tasty. The ground beef on mine was not– almost no flavor, & frankly, tasting very little like any ground beef I have ever had. There was also so much lettuce & tomato on mine that the dish was lukewarm at best. Sigh. I never thought u could screw up nachos but hey, what do I know. Bottom line. Don’t go here if u r elderly as u may not live long enough to see your food. Also, if u want good food, keep looking– substandard at best. The staff while pleasant, clearly does not understand how to wait tables. Bummer.

Always have a great meal here! My friends love the chimichangas and I go for the soft taco with carnitas! Hands down the best rice and beans of any Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in CT! We always get an order to take home to eat with the leftovers. The beans have flavor and the rice is never dry and bland. The margaritas are well made(you can taste the tequila in them) and they have a nice selection. Would be five stars but service is sometimes slow, due more to lack of staff then anything. The waitstaff is always pleasant and accommodating.

My boyfriend and I went here for the 1st time tonight. I really wanted to like this place. We were seated right away and then sat there for 10 minutes — no waitress, no drinks, no chips. When they finally brought the chips, we waited another 10 minutes for our drinks and maybe 30 minutes for the food. We both ordered chimichangas. everything on my plate was cold. Neither chimichanga had very much filling at all, very bland. We had to pay extra to get sour cream. After we finished eating, there was more waiting. we waited so long that I had to go to the bar to ask for boxes and our check. The only thing keeping this from a 1 star review is that the waitstaff was kind. They’re very slow and didn’t check on us at all, but they were pleasant. It is very unlikely that I’ll be returning.

My wife and I are regulars here. The food is better than ALL the Mexican places in the area. We used to frequent Señor Panchos, we havent gone back in years since we started coming here. Any of these posters complaining about the food are just complaining for the sake of complaining. The staff are also all great.

The best food and the best food. Abel is the best taking care of his customers and a pro at preparing drinks. My favorite is the tacos. Great deserts too.

Just ordered take out from here. Paid about $ 15 for Chile Relleno dish. It was 1 small chili pepper, some rice, and a small salad. I wish I took a picture of the pathetic little runt of a pepper. It truly was one of the most insulting takeout experiences I have ever had. My wife took pity on me and have me half of one of her chimichangas. That was also tasteless and uninspired. Barely any sour cream or guacamole on it.

Simply put… the best authentic Mexican food around. Those who don’t like it are generally accustomed to «Mexican chain restaurants»…which are very different. I eat there at least 1 time a week and the staff is very friendly. It’s a great place, bottom line. I would say. that they probably could do much better business if they weren’t located in Naugatuck.

I came here during lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised on how good and tasty the food was! Alot of flavor to their dishes. Fresh chips and salsa, which they gave us when we sat down. I ordered steak fajitas, they were very tasty! My boyfriend got the chicken burrito, which was also very good as well. I will be coming back here again when I am in the mood for Mexican.

Had the steak Arroz, it was delicious. Service was quick and polite. Free Wifi was a plus. We were one of two couples in the whole place, but it was a Saturday afternoon. Overall a nice place.

This place is a great find. All food cooked on premises by family not like chains that are frozen and microwaved. The chili relleno is my favorite. For apps get the nachos with chorizo. great flavor. People have stated that the salsa taste like catsup must be taco bell fans. This place is by far better than baja’s in orange. Great margaritas, great food, great service. Menu has enough of a variety to make all items on it perfect. A must try.
