My husband surprised me with lunch here last weekend. We arrived and the hostess wasn’t at the stand so it was confusing where to go. When she found me she seemed a bit annoyed with me. She is a bit stuffy, snooty, and needs to lighten up a bit. She was rude and unfriendly. I was put off right from the start. We were seated in a cute room overlooking a «garden» with leaded glass windows. The windows were pretty. The garden was nothing to look at. A real missed opportunity here… I mean, they ARE a garden shop! Our server, Emma greeted us with a huge smile and warm demeanor. She was very pleasant and tolerated my annoyance at the hostess’s rudeness. Emma brought out scones and a cup of tea for us to try. Both were delicious. The tea was delicious but was more of a fall flavor… reminded me of Christmas! They need a flavor for spring/summer. But again, it was delicious. I wanted the steak and avocado wrap and it sounded really good. When I went to order it, I was told they no longer make it. Sigh. We ended up ordering the chicken wrap and chicken and dumpling soup. Both were really yummy. Service was fast and friendly. We will definitely return and try to ignore the hostess’s disposition. Perfect place for a girls lunch or shower.

I have been to Martha’s Bloomers three times, loving it so much the first time with my best friend that I came back to bring my mom and another friend. It’s right off the highway and you first enter through a little gift shop/home décor type area. They have some cute stuff at typical boutique prices. You then enter a courtyard area where most of their plants are stored. It’s nice that it’s a mostly covered area, as you can admire the plants even when it’s pouring, like it was on my first visit. At the tea room we were always seated quickly, even though the dining room was always busy. Our servers were always polite and efficient. I will admit I’ve gotten the same thing every time(chicken salad croissant with tomato soup), because I like it so much. Portions are good. The complimentary tea and scones are tasty too! I’ve had the berry cobbler which was delicious. All in all a cute girly place to go visit. Some of the landscaping needed some TLC(the fish pond), and the doves’ birdcages looked kind of sad, too. I called once to try and book myself and a friend for their weekly high tea, but the lady was very abrupt and said they wouldn’t be hosting high tea for a couple months? Overall I’ve enjoyed my experience.

Wonderful Baby Shower! I don’t think I can say enough about how wonderful my experience was in working with Bonnie on coordinating my sisters baby shower at the tea room. From switching rooms the week before, and the number attending changing almost daily, which effected food count. She was incredibly sweet, and gracious and just all around lovely to work with. The service and food were excellent and their signature Tea, oh my, it is Delicious! Many of us purchased some on our way out. I only wish I lived closer, otherwise I would frequent here with friends and host other gatherings!

Martha’s Bloomers came highly recommended by my boss, so we decided to check it out. My friend is a bona fide tearoom freak, so I knew she would love it. We got there, looked around in the little store and garden, and then made our way back to the restaurant part. We waited. And waited. And waited. No one was at the host stand, there were people waiting, and we weren’t sure what the heck was going on. Finally, at least fifteen minutes later(not even exaggerating), a very frazzled lady walked into the waiting room. She basically ignored the three of us, and we had to tell her that we needed to get on the wait list. She said it would be 15 – 20 minutes. Ugh. Of course. We should’ve just left at that point. Thirty minutes later(at least — again, not exaggerating) we saw people that walked up after us get seated. That was it. We had wasted 45 minutes just trying to get seated at 2 pm on a Friday! Come on! We walked back up to the room, and were ignored again. She finally spoke to us and said, «You’re next on the list to be seated, I’m the only one hosting and cleaning up tables today». Sorry, but not my problem. Having worked in a restaurant and retail, I’m pretty forgiving — but I have my limits. Then, not 5 minutes later, she calls out for *another* party. My friend gave her the look from hell, and the lady had the cojones to say, «You’re next». Hello? She continued the death ray glance and the lady finally gave in and seated us. Seriously. What a bunch of crap. THEN, we finally got a waitress(after watching others that came in after us be helped) and they were out of basically everything we wanted. If you’re out of things, you should probably erase the menu off of the chalkboard outside of your restaurant. We all ended up getting the same thing, something we knew would be simple and quick to get to our table. Whatever. The food was okay, prices weren’t too bad, but we should have cut our losses and left when we were ignored for the first 15 minutes to even get on the list. Won’t be going back.

Having read much about Martha’s Bloomers, we took the drive up from Houston, which is pleasant. The entrance is inviting, and it’s easy to find. We were very disappointed with the selection and quality of plants. Houston Garden Centers has them beat. The greenhouse was virtually empty and unkempt. The tree selection was very small, ditto on the fruit trees. The gift shop did have a nice selection of items. We did not try the tea shop. There is so much potential at Martha’s, we were very disappointed.

I don’t get to make the drive down from College Station to Martha’s Bloomers as often as I would like. I love bringing a friend for lunch or for a well-deserved afternoon dessert. I’ve always had good food here, and quite a few yummy desserts. I enjoy browsing the nursery and grounds as well.

Arrived at the Café around 1:30 P.M. on a Saturday. Waited about 10 minutes to be seated which is not bad. Restaurant is not big and very cozy and very nicely decorated. Waited for another 10 minutes and finally hostess noticed we have not been served their complementary tea and scones. She immediately asked for help and sure enough the tea and scones came right out. They were delicious and that was about the best part of our dinning experience. We had a mix up with our waiters. The one suppose to be our waiter ended up lost our table to another and he ended up having to serve too many tables so we did not get enough attention from him at all. After we place our order we waited for another 40 minutes to get our food. There was also some confusion about that. They clearly wrote they have half sandwich and cup of soup special on the board, but when we ask for that the waiter told us they do not serve that special but still somehow we ended up with a half sandwich anyway. I love the chicken enchilada soup but the wrap and sandwich were just OK. There was some mix up on the bill as well. To sum it up, the kitchen is very slow. The wait staff are all young kids and not very attentive. My whole experience is kind of bitter and sweet. The hostess is very very pleasant. She smile all the time and constantly came around to check up on us. She should receive 5 stars.

Well, were do i start? For quite some time i have been wanting to take the drive out to the country to see the blooming flowers along the road but more so to visit Martha’s Bloomers. I checked out the web site and was pleasantly surprised that Sundays they served Brunch. Upon arrival at the café’ a nice couple advised us to take a seat and wait for the hostess to be seated in the dining room. After some time, hungry and unwilling to wait further we marched in. It didn’t get better! The coffee was of the night before, unfortunately we overheard the conversation among the staff and the salad with microwaved chicken is horrendous! The owner came out and told us that they had been slammed the night before and the kitchen was off due to playing catch up! What about the FROZEN chicken on a salad? Yuck! What a disappointment! Super cute place though!
