Stopped in Nebraska City for a basketball camp. Had breakfast at here. Best I’ve had in long time almost like being at grandmas house.

Don’t let looks deceive you, because this is a little gem in the heart of downtown Nebraska City. My mom and I arrived on a Sunday morning for breakfast. This place is obviously a local favorite, as it was bustling. We seated ourselves and were handed menus and served coffee promptly. The place was decked out for the holidays, and the whole vibe was cute, cozy and familiar. Though the breakfast buffet($ 7.99) was tempting, we opted to split a bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette with wheat toast and hash browns($ 6.99), along with a cinnamon roll($ 1.25). The omelette was tasty, filled with plenty of crispy bacon and(canned) mushrooms. The cinnamon roll was served warm with plenty of icing. The service was attentive, the restrooms were clean, and we are already planning our return.

We love checking out lil diners. And this one was worth the drive and visit. Classic looking diner. Even though the food was very typical and simple the scrambled eggs and hash browns tasted extra amazing to me. I would go back for sure.

Awful experience, especially if you are out of town passing through. We were headed back from Kansas City and the breakfast buffet sounded good, from what I read. We get there and sit at a dirty booth. The waitress came over, gave us water and we ordered coffee. When she came back with that she wiped the table. I asked about the breakfast buffet and she said they are switching it to the lunch buffet so it is done. The next time she comes back she asks if we are ready to order. I asked about the lunch buffet and she said that won’t be ready until 11, and further continues to state that«you can’t get lunch until 11, it’s literally just breakfast right now.» So we are literally limited to ordering off just the breakfast menu, but can’t get the buffet that is still up there. Her demeanor was rude overall as if she just expected us to know the menu and how it works. Sorry we don’t live in Nebraska city. Note that nowhere could I find when they stop serving the breakfast buffet, but apparently it is before 1030. At this point we were debating just leaving altogether because we didn’t want to order anything but decided we still might try. My fiancé tried to order just a sausage breakfast muffin, without egg but substituting bacon and she said this would be an extra«dollar something» because there are no substitutions. This is when he decided he didn’t want anything and I did as well. We told her we will just get the coffee and that’s it. We waited almost five minutes assuming she would come back with a check for the coffee but she didn’t. Instead we left money on the table for the coffee and left. A complete waste of gas and time, would have been better off running though a drive-thru. I do not recommended taking the time to stop at this place if you are passing through.

Very good food, in a classic old diner. The pancake was 12″ in diameter, the turkey melt and Reuben were very good. The nostalgic interior has likely not changed in 50 years, but that adds to the charm. Nebraska City is a nice place to visit.

Talk about a wonderful breakfast. It is a diner that we found when we were visiting Nebraska City. I had the eggs and hash and never had has before and the flavor was out of this world. Service was pretty good and they were not real busy, but they took time to make us feel at home. It really was one of the best meals we had on our trip.

Great buffet, great selection of tasty delicious breakfast foods! Friendly and courteous staff. The outside isn’t much to look at but the food is delicious. It’s what is on the inside that counts!

Decent food with great service. I judge a restaurant on whether or not I have to ask for coffee. We never did.

Our first time here. Really good food(we had buffet) got plenty to eat, well priced for what you get. They have PEPSI as well as all pop you want. The décor us awesome(but not for sale). The staff here are pretty nice as well. We will come back again.

Non-descript, but efficient. Johnny’s offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for $ 7.25. The scrambled eggs are fresh & light, biscuits are flaky & tender, sausage gravy is creamy & flavorful(with a pinch of salt added). In addition to that, there are 3 types of meat(sausage links, Canadian bacon, slab bacon), pancakes, French toast, hash browns, home fries, and homemade hash. The salad bar offers fruit(canned & fresh), 2 types of ambrosia, pudding, lettuce, etc. Service is good, if not terribly friendly, but with strong coffee and ice-cold water, who really cares?
