Nice trail system. Great views of Aspens in the fall. Homestead is kinda-interesting kinda-not. Take the full loop trail and you’ll get to this cool area where you go down to this serene creek. And you’ll go through an interesting semi-open area different from the pines on the way in. There is an old mine half-way through this trail. It’s interesting, but don’t try to go inside it as they have it marked off. Beautiful when there is snow on the ground. Great place for cross country skiing or snow shoeing. Good facilities. The place on the other side of the road(Mud Lake) is also a must-see.

Cool breeze… aspens changing colors… leafs blowing in the breeze. This was the beginning of the ‘perfect day’. This Boulder County Park — Open Space is a true jewel. I had just driven up from Denver(I am from Pasadena California) hoping to find a small town environment in the mountains with a place I could take a ‘day hike’. This facility is wonderful for hikers of all ages. The trails are well maintained and marked(with the blue diamonds — high on the trees for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. The toilet facilities are not coed — and probably should be.!! there were more women hiking than men today! So I waited patiently while she finished! I chose to limit my hike to going to the DeLonde Homestead area(which has an overlook of the wetlands area). Everyone I met had the ‘grin’ only a 10 year old could have — it was a beautiful day — just to hike and enjoy views. Obviously I will be back! this will not me my last visit — I ended up having sensory overload!(help me someone… I need to get back to Southern California to my mean job!) Please take the time to do this hike… it is a true ‘blessing’
