If all of America followed Louisiana’s example when it came to the sale of liquor, the world would be a better place. OK, maybe that is a bit of an overstatement, but it would have definitely made my life easier when I was in Texas. In Texas you have to go to a liquor store to by liquor. I drove all over several counties in search of some scotch one night and came up completely empty. After giving up the search I saw the glowing lights of the Nederland Quick Stop. It appeared to be a liquor store, but it was not. What it did have was a large variety of wine and beer. There was the traditional low end wines, but the beer selction was pretty good. Since I was in Texas I opted for the self proclaimed National Beer of Texas. I am still partial to Abita, but Lone Star was not that bad. A six pack was reasonable, the cashier was friendly and I was even able to get a losing lottery ticket on my way out. If you find yourself in the Nederland area in need of beer, give this place a try.
