The Rustic Moose

I bought a pair of lovely and unique earrings here but noticed later that one of the ear wires had been bent in a couple of places. Although we were on our way to the airport, I made a quick stop to see if perhaps something could be done. The lovely woman behind the counter pointed out that the ear wires were made of a too soft metal and suggested that if I left the earrings there, the shop’s owner, a jeweler, could replace them. Once back home again, the owner left a message to say they were fixed and on their way, and shortly thereafter, they arrived, much better than when I purchased them. Great customer service!

Unique, Fun, A Hidden Mountain Gem !

This place is great for gifts, if you have someone that seriously loves outdoor themes. Almost everything has a moose, bear or owl on it. The prices are all over the place — some nice pieces for under $ 20, but then I saw a scarf for $ 64! There’s also a wall of over priced souvenir t-​shirts, which makes this shop scream «Tourist Trap.» Other than the prices though, there’s definitely a lot to look at and probably something to tempt most people that would travel to Nederland.

I’ve bought so many gift for my girlfriend here I can’t remember them all.

The owner sometimes works behind the counter and she is very nice and knowledgeable.

During my second day trip to Nederland, I took the time to go into the Rustic Moose. During my first trip… I did the typical «Boulder Like» window shopping. (I was relaxing and taking in the local vibe).
What struck me going into the Rustic Moose wasn’t the overwhelming quantity of items in the store — it was the ‘quality’ of the items. (At times when I go into ‘gift shops’ — I find a number of ‘tacky’ items — that may be fun for teens — and maybe family fun… if you like tacky items — the Rustic Moose — IS NOT THE PLACE).
In addition to being well stocked… the store has something for everyone. (with the noble exception to tacky)…
Finally, I never realized there was a downstairs until my second circuit through the store — and I must have been down there for 30 minutes.
I ended up buying gifts for my friends that were babysitting my dogs in California… and a number of souvenirs for myself.
