Great place to get hockey stuff
But their sharpening is terrible. It is well known by all the kids not to go there. We learnt that first hand last week. I wish they would improve as it is the only place in our area.
PLEASE WORK ON THIS PURE HOCKEY!

Always an issue with skates after they have been sharpened at pure hockey.
If I need a tape, I will stop by because of the store location. For major purchases, sticks, skates, helmets, hockeymonkey would be a better choice, lower prices, larger selection. Also, what’s up with the store asking for all types of personal data, what is your name, your phone number, email, I came here to sharpen my skates not to apply for a mortgage.

Everyone is so nice! They took as much time as needed to help fit and find the appropriate gear. They even kept the store open after hours and never rushed us.

I had my first visit to any Pure Hockey location. I needed a replacement blade for my aluminum shaft and I was having a really difficult time finding stores that carry replacement blades (and/​or finding stores that carry replacement blades for less than $ 90). I saw that the website had a good selection of blade, so I figured I’d try my luck.
I was in luck! I found the appropriate replacements blades on sale! I had a question that the guy helping me didn’t really answer (any insight? What is the difference between a junior and senior blade — they don’t seem to be different in size, so, what is different about them?), but my question was more out of curiosity than anything else.
I looked around the store and saw a good selection of equipment for OK prices. Some of the stuff on sale was a great deal, but otherwise prices were about average. Depending on what I need, I might go back there again.

The only reason for 2 stars and not one is the products. They do have a good selection of equipment for hockey enthusiasts. That said the reps are not very helpful or friendly and just got skates sharpened here and job was terrible. I have been going to a Wicked Sharp on Centre St in West Roxbury for sharpening at half the price but was buying equipment so figured would get skates done at the same time, wont do that again.

I feel awful giving a bad review because there was one occasion when I got excellent service at Needham’s Pure Hockey, but I’ve been there too many times to count. They don’t seem to value customer service too much. Most times when my husband and I go, the employees are sitting on the benches opposite the wall of skates, or in the skate sharpening room, and they don’t ask if they can help you find anything, or help you at all. In fact, whenever I ask to be helped, I feel like I’m interrupting or bothering them. But I was pretty disappointed last time we were there, because we waited so long for a skate sharpening that I felt like I had to pester someone to do it. I don’t want to feel like I’m being a pest. I don’t know what customer does. The store wasn’t busy at the time; there was only one other customer there, and i think she was being helped by two employees. The three or four others weren’t occupied. My husband and I were there to pick up new equipment for good money, and we couldn’t get any help with that either so we left.
Like the previous reviewer, we’ll buy somewhere else, if not for the prices, for the service.

I recently moved to the Needham area. I knew of Pure Hockey and I was in a bind for a new pair of skates (broke my old pair the night before), so I stopped by. I dropped $ 330 on some new skates plus a sharpening plus a few other odds and ends. I first used the skates a day later and found that the entire inside edge of the left skate was left blunt. Pretty easy to realize when you step out on the ice because it feels like there is a piece of tape on your blade. I took the skates back and the store manager insisted that this was something I had done. He insisted that it couldn’t have been his (or any of the teenagers who work for him) oversight when sharpening the skates for the first time.
I’ve sharpened skates in a pro shop for a couple years and I can tell you that it is nearly impossible to blunt an entire edge of a skate from heel to toe. When you buy a new pair of skates, the edges come blunt. Other than that, I’ve never seen such a thing. Anyway, I didn’t put up a stink because the shop was full of customers and I’m not about to fight over a $ 6 skate sharpening. That said, I won’t be going back. Pure Hockey has lousy service and the wrong attitude for a shop that sells commodity equipment at above market prices. You can get better deals ANYWHERE. Just pop your item into Google Checkout and you’ll come up with dozens of places selling the same stuff at lower prices. If service is what you’re looking for, try H.A. Zwicker in Bedford. They have a great selection, very fair prices and excellent service.
