After many years of failed attempts at finding a stylist that would listen and do what I asked, I developed some deep seeded trust issues. I visited Jan at Salon di Amici over a year ago on recommendation and have been going back for regular visits since. I have finally found my forever-stylist and have never left her chair dissatisfied. She’s amazing, knowledgeable and thorough. In addition, I was married this year and my bridesmaids, my daughter, and I spent several pampered hours prior to the wedding being made to feel utterly fabulous. There wasn’t one complaint among us at the end of the day and their charges were all exactly as published in their welcome package. We had our hair and makeup done and mani-pedis… Beyond being perfectly satisfied with the results, we could easily see that these professionals really love what they do. They take pride in it and they really care about making you feel your best. More than making a buck, they strive to make you happy and really LIVE good customer service.

This review relates to bridal services only – After my sister’s positive wedding experience at this Salon, I booked it myself for my own wedding about a year before the big day. Unfortunately, their pricing structure changed for their off-site appointments(I believe it changed a few different times), and this was not communicated to me. After trying to understand the pricing on three different occasions, and talking with the two owners separately who gave me different estimates, I canceled my appointment and booked with another salon 3 weeks before my wedding. Brides should 1) confirm, in writing, the cost of the services for them and each of their bridesmaids, 2) know that the practice session is the same price as the full day-of session(and won’t be perfect), and 3) avoid doing anything off-site. A portion of my cancellation letter to the owners is provided below — «Thanks for sending [the revised pricing information], and I appreciate the owners’ willingness to honor(for the most part) their original agreement with me. That being said, we have decided to book with another salon for the wedding. Accordingly, please cancel all appointments(both hair and makeup) for my wedding… This was not an easy decision to make, however, I feel that I have no choice but to cancel. I booked the services over a year ago due to a positive experience with my sister’s wedding, but have been disappointed with the communication and changes in connection with pricing. When I originally booked the services, I was informed by that the pricing would be $ 60 for hair and $ 35 for makeup, with an additional $ 5 fee per person for travel. A few weeks ago I spoke to a receptionist, and then an owner(Becky), to clarify the pricing. At that point I was informed that the fees for travel would be $ 5 per service, not per person. A few days ago at my hair practice session, there was confusion again regarding pricing, and I was told(by Jan, the other owner) that my hair would be $ 65 plus an additional $ 5 for travel. There was also talk of a $ 10 fee per service at some point, which I was not asked to pay. I was also told that the fees had increased, and that you were no longer taking off-site appointments, due to the costs involved. While the dollar amount of these changes has been small, the lack of communication regarding the pricing changes(and the fact that I received different information from each of the two owners within a few weeks time) bothers me greatly. I do not feel confident that on my wedding day I will know what the pricing structure will be. Even though I now have this in writing from you(albeit with an additional $ 5 fee for my hair), I should not have had to battle to get these rates. In retrospect, I should have had the pricing structure included in the contract I signed, but I failed to do so. Finally, I was not happy with the practice session. I am still at a loss to explain why I am charged for a full updo, when I only receive a partially done style.(Specifically, when I complained about the look of the top of my hair, my stylist indicated that those types of problems would be fixed the day of, and that the session itself was simply a practice session to get the general look down). She also informed me when I wanted the back adjusted that it would be fixed the wedding day. For $ 65 plus tip, I would have expected that my hair be PERFECT. I admit that Becky told me I could go back to the stylist and ask that she make it perfect, but Becky also indicated that the practice was not what that was meant for. I understand this perfectly, and was not going to waste her time or mine on making it perfect… But I do think that the pricing structure should be set up to include a reduced-cost practice session. Other salons I’ve looked into charge a higher fee for the brides hair and makeup, and work in practice session as part of the cost. Because of these problems, and less than three weeks before my wedding day, I had to locate another salon that had availability and arrange for scheduling. I will also need to pay for yet another practice session. I will be sharing my experience with Salon di Amici on Unilocal, and hope that by writing to you that you can fix the problems highlighted above and save other brides from going through the same hassles that I have gone through.»
