I absolutely LOVE this store. I look forward to going here every time I drive through Nehalem. There are all sorts of neat items that are useful and /or decorative. The people who work there are super helpful and nice.

What a GEM! They pack SOMUCH into this space — new, artsy and gourmet items, music, toys, general food merchandise and just about anything you could need kitchen/cleaning/house/pet/auto-wise… And the prices are very reasonable. The service is always helpful and friendly and they are conveniently located in Nehalem so it’s convenient from Garibaldi, Rockaway, Manzanita, Wheeler… Really worth a trip just to see the new, seasonal items as well.

I went to a little tourist type store called Hal’s Emporium. Hal’s is located in Nehalem Oregon. It used to be located in TIllamook. One side of the store is set up like a classy little boutique. The items on that side are a little pricier. The items on the other side are set up like you might expect to find at a dollar store. The best part about my little trip to Hal’s wasn’t the multi-pack of tweezers that I was so happy to find, or the fun car games that I found to occupy my kids during the remainder of our road trip. It wasn’t the shelves stuffed full of a myriad of differing items, or the fun beach hats. The best part of the trip wasn’t even the super sweet and helpful clerk. The best part of the trip was finding the silly hidden rubber duck. You see somewhere amid a plethora of retail items there’s a little rubber duck hidden. There are several rubber ducks throughout the store for sale… but it isn’t one of those. My kids REAlLY wanted to find this darn little duck, and heck, bringing his ducky little butt to the cashier will garner the finder 20% off of their entire purchase, so I had two different motives for finding him! Finally, toward the end of our trip, right there in plain site. there he was! My kids were filled with glee, my bank account cheered happily, and our shopping trip became an adventure.

a very nice little knick knack and doodad store… got a little bit of everything, from local stuff to a small grocery section… plus the prices aren’t that bad considering it’s a store in a very small town… the people that work here have always been nice and friendly…

As my friend told me, Hal’s Emporium is an ADHD dream. You walk through the store flitting from one completely unique bit to another and while the layout may not exactly make sense, it’s quite a sight to behold. You want a cast iron frog? Got it! How about a peacock-shaped dustpan? Yup! Or how about a medieval helmet? Yes, they’ve got those too. Every nook and cranny is filled with fascinating finds and that doesn’t even include the general store. Top it off with great prices and it’s a definite shopping experience.

Hal’s General Store and Hal’s Emporium are in the same location but in two different buildings. I’ve always went into Hal’s General Store thinking it was Hal’s Emporium, which was just a slight oversight on my part because they are owned and operated by the same person. Hall’s General Store is what it sounds like and what my first review was mainly on so this time I’m going to focus on Hal’s Emporium side of the business. It is more crafts and gift side with a discount item section in the back. You have to experience Hal’s Emporium to full appreciate review. All I can really say is that you’ll save a lot of money and find really interesting stuff at both stores. It is well worth stopping in and browsing about. Over a year later, I still like shopping at both stores.

Awesome place to run in and get just about anything you would need while staying on holiday for a week. I took some photos of the kinds of things you would expect, plus the super low prices! Nice job, guys.
