I will start by saying I am a Mexican food snob! I am hispanic myself and kind of rate these types of establishments a bit harsh. Salsa was tasty. Not a traditional salsa but something you would serve to people who can’t handle authentic. Well made. My meal was the asada taco, asada enchelada, and rice. The rice was too hard but had okay flavor. Tasted like it had been sitting in a container for awhile staying warm. The taco was in a store bought taco shell. I find that to be a disgrace to Mexican food at a restaurant. That should only be seen for at home for people who want quick or from Taco Bell. The enchelada sauce was not homemade either.

Started out with trying to call in a to go order which shouldn’t be that hard. But ended up talking to what I can only figure was a thirteen year old. She couldn’t hardly take our order and every time I told her an item she started yelling at someone else to show her where it was at. Food was cold and not well presented or cooked. The only good thing was the chips and cheese dip.

Inattentive staff, loud music, decent food. We had to wait 15 minutes for our check. Waving down the waitress didn’t work to get her attention, but when it finally did she ignored us and didn’t say a word, not even a «someone will be with you in a minute.» The music was a bit loud for us, the food was good. But the way we were treated was rather appalling.

Love this place. Every time we go to red oak we stop here. It’s a Mexican place. Not too over priced and they have decent kids meal. Don’t pass it up.

I’ve been to this location before. However, this evening my companion and I went after the«Taste of Home Cooking School» at the CIvic Center. The show let after a little after 9, so my companion and I rushed to El Charro to see when they closed – at 10pm. My companion ordered the lava cake(it was dry and no lava) and I ordered a beer and the #10(enchilada, chili rellano, rice, and beans). My rice and beans were not warm as they were the first and only things I tried. I told my waiter and he took my plate and minutes later returned with my plate(the exact same plate as I had marked the enchilada and that was completely fine with me), but this time with more beans and rice, but again the rice and beans were not warm they were at best lukewarm. Finally, I told the waiter that we’d pay for the beer and the cake, but I’m not paying for the meal and I showed him I could put my fingers in the rice and beans to prove how cold it was and even told him to do so. I’ve been to this location numerous times and never had this type of food. So I go to the cashier and I tell him what happened, and the waiter comes over speaking in Spanish. The cashier man gets an attitude(this in front of one of the female servers that has waited on me numerous times before) and even mentioned to her, «You know me, I’ve been here a million times and I’ve never had a problem.» The cashier man was so angry that I think she was afraid to say anything. The cashier was more interested if my enchilada and relleno were hot, and I said, they were but I wouldn’t eat them since the rest of the meal wasn’t even warm. He basically called me a liar and said that the waiter and told him that he’d warmed up the plate twice. That wasn’t true as he only took my plate once before and it was no warmer than the time before it just had more rice and beans. I will NEVER go to this El Charro again. If I were the manager I would instantly fire the cashier. If the cashier happens to be the manager/owner, I think he needs to know that he lost a big customer in myself, my companion, and I’m sure numerous members of my family and friends! DISGUSTING food and even worse service! Oh and the chips with the salsa at the start of the meal were cold and greasy, but I didn’t say anything as I was hungry and looking forward to my order! NEVERAGAIN will I go to this place!

We were on our way home to Springdale and wanted Mexican food. We took our chance knowing nothing about Neosho restaurants at the first place we found. It was so yummy! Great food. Reasonable prices. Delicious margaritas. The chips were thin and crispy. If I had to pick one thing I would change maybe I would simplify the menu. Lots and lots to choose from! Everything sounded so good it was hard to choose. I ordered the California Burrito and was not disappointed. If you’re looking for some outstanding food this is the place!

I’m a fan of El Charro in general around this area, but this is the best individual restaurant, in my opinion. In terms of service, cooking, presentation, and the bar area, it just seems better managed than the ones in Joplin or Carthage(or Lamar but who goes there?). The salsa is great and so is about every menu item I’ve ever had. Good deals on beer and margaritas, too! Neosho really lacks for restaurants where one can eat a good meal AND have a few drinks. I’m glad El Charro is in town. ***EDIT*** So El Charro ruined everything good I said above. They TOOKOUT the bar and replaced it with like three tables. Last time I went in, I ordered the chile colorado, and it was just a plate of the fajita beef in an entirely too salty chile sauce. Have a drink before, and go to El Pueblito!
