I recently decided to try growing orchids. I ordered some online, forgetting that Silva Orchids sold them at the Union Square Farmer’s Market. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Tony Silva. Their booth was gorgeous; you’ll see from the photo that it was a riot of colors. I not only bought a lovely mini Dendrobium but Tony was a font of knowledge. Ask him some time about the history of reproducing orchids from seeds. I plan on visiting their greenhouses soon as they’re only an hour from New York.
