Romano Netcong Shop-Rite

This place is tiny, and never has what I need. Do yourself a favor and go straight to the ShopRite in Byram or ledgewood and don’t waste your time here. Also, the produce here is always terrible. There is no bakery. I wish this place would just close or renovate.

Thought I’d be the first to Unilocal about this but someone beat me to it. A lot of what said in prior review I’d attest to. For me, a single person who sometimes only goes in want to get a few items this store is a Godsend. Kudos to the Romanos for keeping in open when it would have been easy to close it after opening Byram and Flanders. There’s been times when I’ve grabbed a few items and was quicker than if I had got them at say Quik Chek because of the Self Checkout. There’s only a few items like a special Diet Soda I like they don’t stock. As noted produce selection is somewhat limited but sometimes they do have fruits like mangos when they’re in season. After a few trips and learning the layout of the store you should be able to do your shopping most quicker since the space is condensed and the walk from diary to produce is about 3x less than what you get at the monster Shop Rites. I hope they keep the store as is for years to come.

Good for getting the basics.
This Shoprite is much smaller than the one in the Succasunna mall next to HomeDepot. It offers less variety but you can often skip the long lines especially during rush hour that you get in the larger Shoprite.
It has 1 isle of the averages fruits and veggies you would want but don’t expect anything exotic such as mangoes, coconuts or avocados. The rest of the isles offer the same basic choices with not more than a couple of brands of cereals and goods offered. I do not think they offer any organic produce and have a limited meat selection that does offer a few steaks and ground beef for burgers. They do have a bakery that makes delicious baguettes daily and you can get warm ones even in the afternoon.
The attached liquor store is a plus if you’re hoping to pick up some wine or beer or even a few spirits. The wine selection is surprisingly good and they do have many on sale so you could get quite a good deal.
Have both self checkout and cashier checkout.
