Watkins General Store and Country Cafe

We’ve eaten here dozens of times. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. While the breakfast is the BEST, dollar for dollar, every meal has been great!

Great place to eat for all three meals. Country cooking at reasonable prices. The brisket is smoked in house and is good. Good food, friendly people. Locally owned and family run.

The people here are awesome, and the food is good. Not outstanding, but good. They are a little stingy with the sides (fries and onion rings) but in all honesty it doesn’t hurt to save me the calories. Ha!
I really like the burgers here, they are quick and inexpensive (as is most of the menu). When I order a burger I get a single or a double depending on how hungry I am and add bacon/​cheese/​jalapenos. The breakfast is decent too, pretty similar to waffle house but with friendlier staff and no need to drive to Rockwall or wait in line.
The store on the other hand is VERY convenient. I wish they were open a little later but for the only store/​restaurant in Nevada you can’t really ask for much more.
This place is really for the locals, but if you’re in the area and need some snacks or a bite to eat they will be more than happy to accommodate you.

Burger & fries were good but over priced for the amount of food. $ 4 Burger with very thin meat that didn’t cover the size of the thick bun. The bun maybe just seemed thick because the meat was so thin… $ 2 Fries were good, just not many of them.

I ate breakfast here. I ordered over medium eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were over easy and runny. The hash browns were cooked just beyond raw. Good hash browns need some crispness, these had none. The biscuit was okay but I’m not convinced it wasn’t from a can. I expected more than what it was. The only thing I liked was the service. The server was attentive and nice.

The thing is, I was expecting home style country cooking which wasn’t the case so that was a bit of a let down.
But the serve was good and being able to support a small town business is even better.
if in the area we’d stop in if we were hungry.
