Lou is the man. A true professional. I fell in love with a barrel back cane chair at an antique store but the seat was totally blown. I found a few places online who re-cane chairs and emailed for quotes. Lou got back to me within the hour with prices that were almost half of what his competitors wanted. I purchased the chair and took it straight across the river to Lou. You can tell Lou really loves what he does. He walked around my chair in his driveway admiring the craftsmanship and telling me things I never knew about caning, stains, style and wood. I left knowing my chair was in good hands. A few days later Lou called with what he said was bad news. The simple re-caning and staining job would now require drilling tiny holes through old glue. Despite this change in plans, Lou held to the original agreed-upon price. He also fixed a row of caning in the back of the chair for free. I just picked up the finished chair and could not be more pleased. Is it weird to wish for more damaged cane furniture just to have an excuse to go back and work with Lou? If you’re looking for someone to bring your caning back to life(after all, why else would you be searching for it on Unilocal?), look no further. Fair prices, pride in his craft, and just an all-around good guy. Lou will get the job done, and then some.
