Most of the previous reviews mention excellent customer service and this one agrees. The steak sandwich on Texas toast was very flavorful and not overcooked, although the bread was a little soggy. Both the onion rings and house cut fries were good, but if you prefer crispy French fries you may not agree. The one big disappointment was the cheeseburger. A previous review stated the burgers are hand formed from fresh ground beef. This no longer appears to be the case. Ordered the Fat Luey burger medium rare wth cheese only, no other toppings. The burger that was served looked like your run of the mill frozen hamburger patty. If it was hand formed, it was hand formed into a perfect thin circle. The burger was VERYDRY and flavorless especially with no toppings other than the cheese. Will go again and try some of the other items but see no reason to try a burger here again.

Best sweet tea ever. Cute. Friendly and clean. JR Luey burger was fresh and delicious. Onion rings were a meal in themselves. My cohort got the Ribeye Steak Sandwich it was apparently tasty. The entire downtown is in a really neat stage of restoration so it was fun to walk around also.

I’m updating my rating because this place just gets better and better the more you go. Customer service unparalleled. Case in point — ordered an Onion Rings appetizer and got this huge plate of thick cut, hand breaded onion rings about 3 layers deep. Waiter came out with half a plate more a few minutes later. He explained that when they brought it out the first time, the waiter accidentally knocked a few off the top onto the floor. The cook breaded and fried another 6 rings in to replace the ones that got knocked off. Note that we didn’t even notice this and frankly the order was already the size of 3 – 4 orders of rings from any other place.

I Love Love Love to eat here when I am in the area. Why, you ask. Well pull up an ear and I’ll share with you some of the reasons: 1. The service is incredible, considering the place is small and there is not alot of staff. If you come here often enough, they will remember you and your name! 2. The food is DELICIOUS! I love their fish tacos. I get them almost every time i am here on business. The fish is blackened to perfection, never fishy, and seasoned perfectly. I get mine with a side of coleslaw, then top the tacos with it. Their coleslaw has a hint of sweetness, but not overbearing. I have also had their melt-in-your-mouth grilled chicken salad. MOUTHGASM! I don’t know what they season this chicken with, but they could easily bottle it up and sell it! It is THAT good! The salad comes with interesting toppings, like bell pepper and cucumber, and garnished with fresh fruit. It sure beats the usual-lettuce and tomato served at most joints. 3. The ambiance is eclectic. Now, if you are a die hard MS State fan, you might want to wear a blindfold before you enter, because they do have many Olé Miss items throughout the restaurant. But, they have the front decorated for the season – whichever season we happen to be in at the time. Very festive and welcoming. 4. Is there really a need for a 4th reason? I mean, they have great service with a smile, the food is delicious and can be called in ahead of time if you are in a hurry, the ambiance is warm and inviting – what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, a reasonable price! Yep, they have you covered! You will not break your bank account coming in to dine with them! I can’t wait to visit again. Those fish tacos have my name written all over them!

Nice lunch salad with a great combination of fruit included. I generally do not order salads that include fruit, but I made a mistake and I was glad I did. Good service and not loud.

I’ve learned more and I’m impressed. All the steaks are hand cut, including the meat for the steak sandwiches. The hamburger patties are formed by hand from fresh ground beef, not frozen patties. Almost everything is made fresh in the restaurant including the handcut fries and onion rings. Definitely worth a visit. The dessert selection varies but is always excellent.

I don’t get many opportunities to eat out in New Albany on the weekend due to work, so when we had a night off the wife and I decided to give Fat Luey’s a try. Service: Excellent, very attentive Ambiance: Nice family atmosphere, but not a big fan of the country music blaring from a radio in the back. Food: I was excited to see they had a sign for NY Strip as I was in a mood for steak but not a big fan of sirloin. Unfortunately, they had just sold out, so I should have got there earlier! We both went with the steaks, sweet tater fries, texas toast, and salad. Salad was good and fresh and the fries were outstanding, dusted with a little cinnamon and sugar and crispy. Laura’s steak was a perfect med. rare as ordered, but mine came out very blue… as in rarer than rare. With great service they picked it up and I had it back in a matter of a few minutes, and although a bit past medium rare now not so much I wanted to try again. The biggest problem was a common one in this area; lack of any seasoning. Very very bland. Still, hard to mess up a steak so adding a bit of salt and pepper helped but just a little salt and pepper before cooking makes a world of difference. The toast was the only«weird» thing. I don’t know what the heck they buttered it with but it sure wasn’t butter. If it hadn’t been for the service and the fries I doubt I’d go back, but I will probably try again one night with the catfish

I got the grilled chicken strip plate. It came with a really good salad, choice of side(I got baked potato) and awesome sweet tea! Nice cozy place with good food and friendly staff! You really should give them a try!
