Beautiful facility. Kind front desk staff, kind assistants. That being said the rest kind of falls apart. My sister, Chara had horrible knees. Years of skiing, rollerblading and a bad car accident have just done her in. While we have managed to put off a total knee replacement for sometime, we know it is looming in our near future. While researching orthopedists she ran across information on this clinic. They are touted to be some of the best around — claiming number one in their specialty. That may be the case but I was not impressed,
Beautiful facility. Kind front desk staff, kind assistants. That being said the rest kind of falls apart. Once we were back into an exam room a physicians assistant took her history, did a small battery of tests (range of motion, flexion, extension) and then Dr. Keith Berend came in along with a fellow who was shadowing him and another assistant who appeared just to be taking notes for him. He reviews my sisters x-​rays and agreed she has «horrible knees.» When she asked what were her options he simply stated «Total replacement.» She again asked him what options were there to that because she has seen all different kinds of knee replacements and he never elaborated. When she asked about the type of knee he would be using he got even shorter and because she told him she had a reaction to a screw she had once before he admonished her by saying that «I use only titanium, but I can tell you there is no real correlation to metals and allergies. They have run tests and cannot prove it.» I beg to differ. I know plenty of people allergic to metals and classified that way by doctors!
She asked if she elected to do surgery how soon it would be and he told her he could do it as soon as Monday (This was a Tuesday). She told him she would let him know and the next thing you know his assistant came back and was giving us all the details on what to do the night BEFORE. It was crazy. And still no questions answered. She told my sister they wanted her on Tylenol the day before and would use IV Tylenol through the procedure. We told them she is allergic and the lady just said «Oh…OK» we asked what they would use instead and she never answered it. Needless to say we are NOT going back to this facility. All the beauty and outward appearance cannot make me trust a doctor that wont answer our questions.
