2 stars for the food; the other two shining stars belong to the adorable train! When I heard that there is a little train that delivers drinks at this restaurant, I knew I had to surprise hubby with a special trip out to New Albany. It was totally worth the trip. Although the outside of the restaurant does not look like a destination, what’s hidden inside just made us giddy. The left side of the restaurant is where the train is located inside a group of booths that surround a train track. It all sounds confusing and convoluted now, just wait until you check it out. We quickly ordered drinks from the server and waited anxiously for the delivery to arrive. Yes! The little train showed up within a couple of minutes and stopped at our station! It waited for us to retrieve the drinks and it was on its way again. When we «needed» more refills… the server went back and sent the drinks out by train again! The food was just run of the mill kiddie pizza and other boring stuff. My order of wings was really salty. No, those do not come on the train. But nevertheless, hubby and I were absolutely geeked about the train if you cannot tell already. This place is great for train geeks or little kids. We are glad to have come on an afternoon when they are not too crowded. But the booths might just be high enough to shield us the next time, too.

While the train is fun for the kids, I’m not sure it’s enough to compensate for the food and the service. Best to just keep choo choo choo’ing along to better pizza elsewhere.

Super kid friendly. That’s why it gets 5 stars. 3 year old loved it. Pizza, Mario brothers, and choo choo trains. Got here at 4:30 for early dinner, no wait, got the drink train, and the child was ecstatic. Loved it. Memorable experience for a first timer.

This is a great pizza King this is the one you want to go to. Do not go to the other pizza Kings they are junk! Great food great service great atmosphere! I drive all the way from Charlestown to eat here instead of eating at the one in Charlestown.

Absolutely the best pizza I’ve ever enjoyed. It’s an Indiana tradition for sure, no one I know has ever heard of PIzza King. I originally grew up here but moved out to west coast. I really miss this awesome chain. This location was one of my favorites, what’s better than cotton candy machines, thin crust pizza and drinks delivered on a train? Every time I come into town I have to stop in. AMAZING.

I’ve loved Pizza King since I was a kid. It has only gotten better with age. I have a one year old little girl and I swear she survived the pregnancy on Pizza King alone. It is my absolute favorite place to eat and the kids love it too. I recommend this for anyone from out of town or anyone who passes by daily.

Pizza King is my favorite pizza place. The service is always good here and I have yet to wait for a seat. If you grab a booth they have a neat train that comes through and delivers your drinks and refills. Pepperoni and green peppers is my go to pizza here. They also have tvs and game cubes in the booths for you to use for 50 cents.

I ended up at this Pizza King with my date because we went to the drive-in and it was sold out. We had passed a Pizza King on the way there(he is from out of town) and he said«we could go to that Pizza King.» I said, «If you want Pizza King, there is one in New Albany that brings your drinks on a train» He lost his mind. He was giddy the whole ride. When the hostess told us that it would be a 15 – 20 minute wait he didn’t care. When it turned out to be 30 – 35 minutes he just got more excited. «That must mean they are having so much fun, they don’t want to leave!!» We finally got a booth, and he was giggly and adorable. Our TV was broken, which was a bit of a bummer, but considering we are in our 30s, we made conversation instead of watching Family Guy. Our server came, took our drink order, my date couldn’t handle the anticipation. Thank goodness the train was working! He even got a video of the train delivering our drinks. It was well worth the trip just to see this 30 year old man geek out over a model train carrying beverages. I got a refill just so the train would stop at our table again. To top it off, the pizza was delicious, reasonably priced, we had a bunch of leftovers, AND they have a «make your own cotton candy» machine. What could be better?

Best pizza I’ve ever had! I love the square thin crust they use along with crumbled pepperonis. I have picked up and dined within and had a great pizza every time. The train that brings you your drinks is cute and I love that you can play video games or watch tv at your booth while you wait. Every time I come home from NC I love to stop in and pick up an X-large pizza to share with the family. Yummy!

We called ahead with a group of 8 for a small birthday party but when we arrived they refused to seat us in a booth together or in booths next to each other. They told us that the only thing we could do would be to split up into two groups and sit on opposite ends of the restaurant because if we sat together in the same section it «wouldn’t be fair to the servers». After being told that was the only option we left and went somewhere else. Pizza King: come for the horrid food, stay for the abysmal service.

Designed for kids but not really family friendly. T.V.s in ever booth make it hard to keep kids involved. If I wanted to watch T. V while I ate I would just eat at home.

We visited this Pizza King today for lunch with a group of 11. We knew we would have to split up if we wanted to allow our children the experience of our drinks being delivered by the train. Of course, we all know, you don’t visit this place for the food, but for the experience for our kids. They sat one half of our group on one side of the building and the other half on the other side. Since there were only 3 of the 10 or so booths around the train being used, we thought we would ask to sit next to each other. To my amazement both hostesses said we couldn’t. I fought with them both for a bit then one suggested I speak with the manager. The manager again told us we would have to sit on opposite sides. He said those were the rules and if he changed them for us he would have to change them for everyone. Had it not been for the 5 kids we would have left. I will not visit this location again. Actually, since I am aware most of these shops are connected by the same owner I will not visit the others either. This is my first Unilocal review, I promise most future reviews will be positive.

Let me preface this with the fact that I now understand that I am probably not the target demographic that Pizza King is aiming for. Perhaps if I had children, I would be more inclined to rate it higher. However, there is no obvious signage saying«Adults are not going to be smitten» on the outside, and I’ve been to another Pizza King(now a Pizza Queen) in Bloomington that did not feature a choo-choo train that delivered my beverage. I do not feel my expectations were properly set. The pizza was fine. I’ve had better frozen, but this was passable. It was the thin crust-without-being-crispy kind that is alright. They use the crumbly sausage that I like, so I’m in favor of that. The garlic cheese bread, however, was bland and the marinara sauce that accompanies it was far too sweet. The service was prompt and friendly. Our server did an excellent job. It’s not you, it’s me. I’m not a fan of televisions in restaurants other than sports bars because I feel like they distract people from conversation. I’m not interested in South American field hockey, but somehow, I keep looking up because of the little moving lights! Pizza King offers you the chance to watch whatever you want, right at your table with an individual TV. Then, if you get tired of that, you can pay to play video games. Or, as I call it, stuff you can do at home. I assume that these are meant as distractions for children. It really just makes me sad.

A visit to Pizza King tonight makes it clear that is is not a restaurant that adults visit to enjoy amazing italian cuisine, but rather a standby for parents to take their children to sit in train booths and play video games in order to coax them to eat a family meal. Is the pizza bad? No. In fact the crispy crust was better than many area competitors. However it certainly wasn’t gourmet. I will however give them big props for the vanilla bean and red velvet cupcakes with delicious cream cheese icing. So, while pizza king isn’t fine dining, they have mastered the kid friendly dining experience and that earns they four stars.

This is by far my favorite pizza before I moved I ate here at least 3 times a week. When my family comes to visit here in Florida I always have them freeze me a pizza so I can eat one.

Great thin crust pizza. Big menu with lots of choices. Ask for a booth by the train and a model train brings your drinks to your table.
