Stopped in for breakfast today. Had one of their crocks. It was loaded with sausage, fresh veggies and a terrific gravy. My only complaint is that I expected fresh hashbrowns instead of the hashbrowns they use at McDonald’s. The pancakes were light and flavorful. Service was friendly and efficient. A definite winner.

This place used to be so good, but the food has really gone downhill over the past year. I think I’m going to write it off for good after having lunch here today. What happened to seasoning the chicken, or at least not over cooking it to death? So sadly disappointed. This was such a good place. I’m not sure what’s changed.

Food was good. What else can I say, it’s home style cooking tastes like any other place. We had two sandwiches and they were decent sized and a ton of fries! Friendly waitstaff and cute small charm

McDonald’s is right down the street. I thought about it and had a few minutes. Yes, I’ll hit a place that does not have a drive through. Best decision all day! Chicken came out quick with 2 sides and a fresh bun from the oven. Juicy and a little spice added to the experience with the chicken. Outstanding service with a smile. I’ll ask them to build another one right by my house. This is schnelly approved. Good place and for $ 9? Shut the front door!!!

Very good stop off of the highway. A little taste of local cooking. We ate the fried chicken and two sides. Chicken was moist and tasty. The restaurant in looked a little run down l inside but the chicken dinner at the low cost of six bucks was a treat.

Meh. Overall decent with a few disappointments. Service was great. Friendly and fast. It was very busy and our server was very nice. Here is what my family of four selected: Dad: burger and fries– burger was a tad dry but cooked well. Lacked a little in the cheese department and was thirsty for mayo, mustard or — well– hand lotion may have improved the moisture quotient… fries were typical frozen to fried Krinkle variety. Also ordered a cup of chili– it was like Lion’s Choice and Wendy’s chili had a watered-down baby. Unique mystery flavor may have been hot dogs? Family is still undecided on that answer… Mom: walnut spinach salad with grilled chicken. Would have been so much better if someone wasn’t so generous in the kitchen with the Craisins. Chicken was a little dry. Dressing was too sweet. Daughter: ordered fried shrimp, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes. Coleslaw was muy bueno, exceeding expectations. Shrimp was ok– good amount. Mashed potatoes were sub par with a tasty gravy. Son: bluegill sandwich and fries. Um… pretty sure it was NOT a bluegill. Unless it was a bluegill in a tilapia suit. A very dry and flavorless tilapia suit. Hoagie Bun was stale. The overall restaurant feel is awesome! Love the country style and décor. You can tell it draws a lot of hometown folks in for a meal. We would try coming here again — just based on what we saw other diners had to order– and the fact that they may chosen better than we did. And the place was PACKED — so either there is more to this restaurant, or New Baden residents have little access to flavor. We’re gonna go with the former assumption and roll the dice on this cute little restaurant in the future…

This mom & pop establishment smells like my grandmother’s house before I even walked in. Most of the patrons were locals and they enjoyed their fried chicken immensely. I had to see what it was all about. On the menu it said to allow for 20 minutes for fresh fried chicken and that was no lie. It took a good 30 minutes to get our food but it was completely worth it! It was hot and juicy with a great amount of spicy flavor! My girlfriend said I looked like a wild jackal devouring it! Sooooo gooood. The sweet potato was good especially with the cinnamon butter. The décor was old school G-Ma with pictures of the sound of music and wind instruments everywhere. It reminded me of holidays at my great aunts place with the smells and sounds to match. The service was slow but as busy as they were I understand. On Sunday’s they have all you can eat fried chicken which for most people is a waste as if you order the regular meal it’s cheaper and I doubt you can finish it all! All in all I would recommend it but plan on staying awhile.

Best fried chicken anywhere in the St. Louis area! I have been to Hodaks and it pales in comparison. Super flavorful, juicy and crunchy on the outside. Worth the drive!

This outstanding little restaurant makes the drive from St. Louis worth the trip whenever we get the urge for some very good, down-home, southern fried chicken.

Little diner… My husband and I both had a turkey club on a ciabatta roll, very fresh and tasty. Our kids had the Dino nuggets(pretty basic) and the fish sticks. While the Dino nuggets were exactly what I expected, the«fish sticks» looked liked actual homemade beer battered, chicken finger shaped fish fry. I can only imagine how tasty their fries fish is! Coconut cream pie was absolutely amazing!!!

Small town atmosphere, extremely affordable with large portions. Their hamburger is amazing, hand made and super flavorful! Their menu is huge so it’ll have whatever you are craving. Also their rolls are awesome.

Ahh, sweet little town. I just LOVE and adore GOOD little places like this… ESPECIALLY, when the food is good! We stopped in on our way out of town to Carlyle, and I am glad we did. We ordered two mich ultras, and unfortunately– they were the last two. No big deal. As tempted as i was to get the fried chicken, i was in the mood for shrimp. That was some of the freshest fried shrimp– it was so good! HOWEVER… i know this sounds stupid– but i HATE poop in my shrimp! ICK!— so i picked it out with a knife– and when the shrimp are that big– it just grosses me out — – Everything I had was spot on — and extremely tasteful, hot, fresh and good. They have a salad bar that looked pretty good– but i wasnt in the mood for that. They started to get a little busy, and we sat right by the door so I am not sure how big the actual seating area is– they seem to have a couple. You can defnitely tell this is where everyone comes to eat. In those little towns, and on those roads sometimes decent food is far and few between– this place, is worth the stop!

This is my new favorite mom and pop breakfast place… possibly lunch/dinner place if I can make it out here to give it a try. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is ginormous. You may want at least ten minutes to read everything. I had a breakfast scramble type thing(don’t remember the name) it was fantastic. It lasted me a second breakfast the next day. It was flavorful and just out right delicious. For those of you who live in the metroeast and don’t go past Shiloh or Scott AFB… give this place a go its only 10 – 15 minutes away and well worth it!
