When these guys opened up, we didn’t have a ton of variety in the area, so I was pretty excited. Took my husband in on their opening weekend and we have been back several times since. Some of our favorites are the fried pita and humus, their garlic sauce and the chicken and rice bowl. It’s never overly crowded so you can nab a booth, which we love. Sometimes, give yourself a little bit of time as they make it for you and the line can get long. But a great lunch or quick dinner place!

OMG! Been here before and it wouldn’t have gotten this review! The banner outside said New Owner so I stopped in again. Wowwie, the food is great! I’m a real foodie and was offered taste of several items. Thank goodness I already placed my order because everything was so good I’m not sure what I would have ordered! There is a salad with a rose dressing. Unbelievable! Stop in and try to decide which items you want and how you want it served; a wrap, a bowl, a salad. YUMMMMM

I am really happy this restaurant moved into town. Excellent food for affordable prices, plus it’s clean and spacious. I feel the quality and selection is above average. Walk up to the counter and order your choice of foods and pick the toppings you like. You will not be hungry and probably won’t finish what you ordered. Amazing considering the price. The owner and staff are extremely friendly too. Note– they serve grilled tortilla instead of pita but I see it as an advantage because the portion size is bigger. I always get two meals out of one serving. I also like getting some of the catered items if I am going to a party, it’s quick and affordable.

Another family member took over recently, so new management. I like even that much more. First– they have pita bread now(Thank goodness, hubby was so happy). Food was all fresh and healthy. I am not sure why they are not busier– although I do hit them at odd times. They have added more traditional sides, like pickled turnips(LOVETHEM) as well as other pickled sides, egg plant, etc. You really need to try it. Meat is served right off the spit. I have now tried the chicken and the beef. I am partial to the chicken. Son had the Falafel, which he really liked. I believe the baklava is homemade as well. Hubby said it was really really good as well. I am gluten free, so I tick to the non gluten items, of which there is a large number of selections. I get the salad which is always fresh — Very very tasty.

We tried this restaurant tonight. I’d read not so great reviews and didn’t know the cuisine so was a skeptic. I said«help me» to the cook. He made us 2 dishes to try. Then he helped us to pick out our beef shawarma. Then he made us up a side dish to go with our sandwich. Meat was tasty, NOT dry. Baklava was exquisite. They serve Coke products in the fountain. They have Pepsi products in the cooler. They invited us back for next week’s newly enlarged menu. We will go back! Out sandwich was not in soft taco shells, it was like Lebanese bread.

So this place used to be good. The new owners have taken it beyond that. This is the best Mediterranean I have ever had. Plus they will hook you up. Great for feeding a group

I went for the first time today and everything was really good. The concept is odd(like a chipotle) and if they turned this into a traditional restaurant I think they’d have a hit for sure. The chicken shawarma was really good, hummus was tasty and tabouli was perfect. I lived in Dearborn for a few years so I’m pretty knowledgable about middle eastern food and the food here was just as good as any I’ve had.

I like it. I order the salad every time. I can be in and out in no time. The vegetables are fresh and crisp. Items are being added to the menu daily. One of the only places around the area I can get good salad. If you are in the area it’s worth checking out. You won’t be disappointed.

Great Chipotle-style Mediterranean place! Best shawarma in the Chesterfield area. The nephew of the family took over management as of October 2015, and the food quality has really jumped up. I just had the most epically fantastic shawarma wrap there today. As part of their menu revamping they’re also starting to offer a $ 3.99 basic shawarma that will be perfect for lunch.

It’s not your typical fare but it’s oh so good! The garlic dip is awesome — the owners are amazing and the food is too!

I really wanted to like the place but was confused when I walked in. I guess since I frequent Mediterranean places I was a bit thrown off. I got a chicken shawarma wrap. It was on a tortilla and not a pita. It was ok, but would I go get another one? No. I also got a side of hummus and chips as well. The hummus was good and the consistency was authentic, but the chips just smelled like the grease they were fried in. I couldn’t even eat more than one. Good idea, but I think they need to reevaluate some menu items!

Came in today for the first time. Owner was there & they were fully staffed. I got there just after they opened at 11:00am. The staff was friendly & helpful. Yes, it is Chipotle-style ordering & atmosphere. And yes, they use tortilla instead of pita… surprise to me. However, the food was hot, fresh, & tasted so very yummy. Perhaps a little expensive for what you get, but the food was delicious & the service was excellent. I ordered the chicken shawarma & my friend had the beef shawarma and we both had chips & salsa. I like being able to build my own shawarma. I will go again, most definitely. If you want traditional Middle Eastern food, then La Saj is your best bet if Hall Road or north. But Yella is very tasty.

Save complaints. Awkward experience. Pita is Replaced with tortilla and when I asked for a side I got one single piece. Bummed that I have nothing to dip in my hummus. Dressing and sauces however are good and everything seemed nice and fresh.

As expected, Yella Grill has gotten better each of the three times I’ve visited since they opened– not so much because the first meat I had(chicken) wasn’t tasty, but because Yella Grill has introduced a few new condiments over the past month, and they really add a lot of flavor to the food. My chief complaint is still that a tortilla is used in place of a pita. This mostly is a minor nuisance to me just because a tortilla is too thin to hold in the juices from the meat and sauce. If you don’t eat a wrap soon after ordering it, your wrap may be sogged through. That’s a word, right? It is now. If nothing else, I highly recommend getting some garlic sauce(no-brainer) and their lemon garlic tahini on your wrap, in your salad, or in your bowl… those two things add a ton of flavor — of course it does, it’s GARLIC. Yella Grill is slowly but surely improving. My tortilla was warmed this visit, the pork I chose to get was warm, and the food was just all-around a step up from at least my first visit, and maybe my second as well. Best of all, my wrap my last visit was quite a lot bigger than it was my first or second time in. If you’re wondering if you should get beef, pork, or chicken, you can’t go wrong with any of them — just be sure to get tahini and/or garlic sauce. If you come to Yella Grill expecting a sit down restaurant that’s 100% authentic, you’ll probably be miffed. If you’re expecting the Chipotle-style counter to be flooded with options, you won’t really be excited about that either. As I(in a previous review) and others have said, it’s the Middle Eastern equivalent of Chipotle. They have a small menu with a handful of options for your meal, at a reasonable price. Yella Grill is efficient, simple, and most importantly, good tasting.

Pretty good food, and good idea for a small restaurant. The experience was a bit awkward. There were three people working the«grill» area and only one person was preparing food. The other two were doing a lot of standing around and staring at their coworker, who was struggling to stay on top of the growing line. This is definitely $ instead of $$. The food was 6.75 for any entrée.

Just opened up and I popped in for a quick beef shawarma, they also have chicken and pork if that’s your thing. For the price you get a massive sandwich, loaded with your choice of toppings from lettuce, rice, onions, pickles, grape leaves and a few others. It wasn’t too greasy or to garlicky, however they did not cut my meat fresh off of the split like I expect instead they took it out of a tray on the line. I’d rather wait for fresher warmer meat. They have plenty of room for you to eat inside and offer chips and pop if you don’t want it to go. If your looking for something different in the area give it a go, it’s quick the food was good and you will probably have leftovers for later.

WELCOMETOTHEMIDDLEEASTERNCHIPOLTE. The Yella Grill is another upscale fast food place capitalizing on the trendy cafeteria-style food line in which one chooses a meat, various toppings, and various shells to encase the completed conglomeration. The back grill has large geometric slabs of various meats spinning around. The décor is clean, wide open and streamlined with stainless steel table tops. It’s all located in a zombie strip mall. You’ve been to these places before… basically, the Yella Grill is the Middle Eastern version of Chipolte. Beware the economic model will nickel-and-dime you to death with the additional sides. Here’s what we ate: CHICKENSHAWARMA: I wish the Yella Grill made a signature shawarma sandwich instead of relying on the customer to create their own via the various toppings. The chicken was kinda dry, not a moist marinade. The lettuce mix was straight from the bag. The yellow rice bland. The lentils delicious. Pickle chunks instead of preferred spear shaped. The garlic sauce underwhelming. For $ 6.75 you get a huge lump wrapped in a flour tortilla. The problem is shawarma’s don’t taste well wrapped in flour tortillas with all the toppings leaning to various sides like a cheap 5-layer burrito at Taco Bell. My standard for the chicken shawarma is the Bucharest Grill in Detroit and the Yella Grill doesn’t even come close(by the way the BG shawarma only costs $ 4.75). I wish the Yella Grill would at least use spear shaped pickles, moister meat with a more robust marinade, spread the toppings evenly and wrap it in WARMPITABREAD. HUMMUS: This costs an additional $ 1.95 for a VERY small portion. I can’t begin to tell you how bland and mealy the hummus was. A tasteless rip-off. Avoid. PITACHIPS: Basically, for $ 1.50 one gets a large portion of real deep-fried pita bread chunks, some may find them greasy, but I found them delicious. Too bad the hummus was terrible. There are other sides available for an additional cost. Dig deep for the soft drink too. Overall, it’s gonna cost about $ 10 a person. CONCLUSION: Meh. Not terrible, not great either. 2.5 stars, definately not 3. I wouldn’t rush back any time soon. I was hoping to see more Arabic salads on the menu and more robust flavors. To be fair, the restaurant just opened so I’ll review again within 6 months so they can polish things up a bit.
