Been going there for decades and they consistently have some of the best Portuguese food you can find at any price, though theirs is very reasonable. Service is always with a smile and I enjoy the casual, family atmosphere. Their seafood is also as great as their Portuguese food.

M and C Café is a great little neighborhood bar and restaurant. Good food, nice people, and reasonable prices. I had the baked scallops and they were delicious! We can’t wait to come back for the giant lobster roll.

Did not have good service at all the one and only time I went here. The food was not that great at all and very expensive for the small portion I got and was expecting a lot better. The wait staff came over to take order and drop off food we had to find her to pay the bill and we left because it took to long to bring back boxes! I’d rather go to Antonio’s next time it’s close by and friendlier, cheaper and bigger portions!

I am not going to base this review on the first time because the waitress«Flo» was so RUDE we only had 2 bites of our quahogs before we walked out. Those bites were so good that eventually we tried again. on Tues 5⁄7 The same surly waitress was working so we sat at the bar. The bartender Tony was great. Everything sounded so good. We ordered the quahogs, Squash Fritters, steak tips with fries and mac n cheese and the Chicken and shrimp mozambique, fries and cole slaw. It came with bread. Everything was a 10 except the tips were an 8. Still pretty good but when compared with everything else they were an 8. I could’ve drank the mozambique sauce it was so good and the chicken was amazingly tender. The mac n cheese was cheesy and decadent. The handcut fries were straight from the marshfield fair(awesome), Without an additude, unlike Flo, the bartender brought me not only Tabasco and Franks he had a homemade Habenero sauce that my wife loved. I asked for a couple of lemons for my quahog and he brought them right over to us. The bar was filling up, unlike the dining room. My guess is we arent the only ones who have had problems with the day waitress. My suggestion is to fire the terrible afternoomn waiitress. There are 6 reviews on here and 3 mention the terrible service I’m sure its the same Waitress. I never want somebody fired but this restaurant which has incredible food is going to suffer because of her service. I wasn’t going to go into detail about the first time but as I think about it it makes me angry all over again. From the second we sat down we felt as if we were bothering her. We saw the bread and it looked delicous so we asked for some,“flo“told us it doesnt come with appetisers in a less than pleasant voice. I would have paid for the bread we just wanted some. BTW we ordered 5 appetizers for 2 people so its not like we ordered water and free bread. When I asked for lemon for my quohog I was hit with a big sigh. when she came back again with the bread plates she THREW them down and turned and walked away. I was dumfounded and my wife looked at me with utter disbelief. At that point we got up and went to the bar to pay for our food we hadn’t eaten and left. It was about a month or so before we tried again. If not for the first experience it would’ve been a 5 star review

Okay, if you drive too fast you will miss it. Great atmosphere! The food; haven’t had anything I didn’t love. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to eat.

Really enjoyed it, great service and excellent food. The pork thumbs were awesome, and the Squash and Chouriço Fritters were beyond amazing.

Went for lunch, I had the chicken mozambique, and it did not taste like mozambigue. Also had a lemon drop Martini, and it tasted like a reqular martini with a slice of lemon.

M&C as I knew it burned down a while ago, and has been rebuilt recently. The inside is now much nicer and the ambience enhanced by the new décor. I arrived with a friend and a special coupon. THe coupon was handled greatly by the staff, who for the most part were great. We were sat in the bar area which was nice and lively during a pretty slow lunch. The food is great and really low priced. We each tried a stuffed quahog and they were delicious with just the right amount of spice. I then opted for the fried calimari which i knew would be great as i’ve had the friend seafood from here before. My friend got portuguese steak tips that were also really great. THe bread was good, but the only item lacking was the rice. I definitely plan on returning.

I had been meaning to check out M&C Café for about a month or so now after sampling their food at the Taste of Southcoast festival in May. At the festival they had two really interesting items: squash and chourico fritters, and scallops with a purée of squash, fresh salsa, and balsamic drizzle. It was the most creative food I had during the festival and I was excited to visit the restaurant. M&C Café is on Belleville Ave in a section that’s mainly residential with only a few other businesses near by. Because my friend and I wanted to go on a Mon night, I called first and was told the kitchen was open until 9. My friend works late so we got there about 8:15, at which time the place was empty. We decided to eat in the dining room, which was very attractive with cute woven chairs and a fish tank. The bar area also looked nice, and a couple came in right after us and sat in there. Our food was pretty good with large portions and very reasonable prices(cheaper than we expected). We had the fritters, but the squash seemed to be missing, so we were a bit disappointed with them. My friend got the fish and chips and I had the Portuguese steak sandwich(steak, ham, fried egg, tons of sauteed garlic, pickled peppers). We both enjoyed our entrees. The service was slightly lacking in that it was obvious we were disturbing our waitress by being there. When we came in she and another a waitress were eating and my friend and I did feel a bit bad at interrupting their meals. I asked which beers they had on tap and the waitress said«pretty much everything» which I hate as an answer b/c no place has everything on tap. So then I asked about what local beers they had and she said«local beer? what does that mean?» and she and the other waitress went back and forth on that for a bit while I explained that there were local breweries. I ended up with a Sam Summer as the«local» choice. My friend and I decided to give M&C Café another chance on a busier night or at an earlier time. Although we enjoyed the food the service conveyed that we were being a burden at the time.
