I had a good experience with Flat Rate! Not only did they call me twice to verify my info and to assure me they’d be on their way(I booked an appointment online), but they also emailed me a bio of the plumber that would be coming to do the service. The journeyman plumber who did the work at my house was not only warm and personable(we chatted about our kids), but he installed a shower head for me free of charge. He came out for a clogged kitchen drain, which cost 200 + the 59 service fee to come out. I didn’t shop around, but I really needed quick service — so I can’t really comment on cost, which is why I gave 4 stars.

I’ll put it quite simply. If you use Flat Rate, you are nuts. They will try and tell you that this or that is on it’s last legs and will explode killing everyone in the house unless you let them sell you a new whatever«right now!» Because if you buy it right now, they will discount the price. I’m not saying they don’t do good work, because their plumbers know what they are doing, but they’ve tried to «up-sell» me and another time when a tenant called them, they overcharged me by half. A $ 300 job cost over $ 700.

I agree with the other posters. I have a water heater which needs a dip tube replaced and made that clear to the people in the office there. The plumber showed up and the first thing he looked at was the pressure valve which had a little drip and needed to be reseated while the water was shut off. He said it should be replaced(not) and said it would be $ 300!!! This exact part is $ 7.49 at Home Depot and screws on and off the tank. He went around the house, measuring water temperatures(really trying to sell me a new heater) and finally said he coild replace the dip tube but doesn’t carry one on the truck. I was specific with the guy in the office about dip tube and they should have brought one to install. Luckily they didn’t, after the price he said for the pressure valve, the dip tube would have probably been $ 2000.00. A dip tube is about $ 15.00 at Hime Depot for my brand of heater. To be fair, they installed my water heater and do excellent work but avoid them. prices are insane.

Don’t use this company if you can help it. They are extremely expensive. Charged me 477/-buck to unclog a kitchen drain. This included an 89/-fee to come out and give me an estimate.
