Please keep in mind that I do not have any personal experience with leaving my child in the care of anyone at this day care. We did not sign up for this day care. That being said, I was really disappointed with what I saw during our tour. This being one of the more highly reviewed day care centers in the area, I was expecting better. First, the price is inexcusable for the quality of the center alone. This place costs a good $ 200.00 more per month than what we pay at our current child care center and that place is immaculate, the teachers educated and the building secure. The toys here were filthy. I used to work in child care and can say that when toys get that dirty, it means someone is not cleaning as they should be (at the end of every shift). It’s not the children’s fault; it’s the fault of those assigned to clean up after them. There was caked-​on dirt on several of the toys, including the entire Lego table. The bikes outside looked like medieval contraptions more so than updated, enjoyable outdoor toys. It was depressing. The teachers appeared happy to meet us and the children were really welcoming, as well. One of the teachers seemed a little ‘spent’ but I don’t know what went on that morning and I don’t know her story. The children eat on styrofoam plates, with plastic utensils and drink from styrofoam cups. I witnessed a few of the plates accidentally falling on the floor due to a gust of wind and the teacher just picked them up and put them back on the table. Now, I realize this review may sound bourgeois to some. but I feel that if you are paying a premium on child care, you get what you pay for — or at least, you should. For that cost to the parents, teachers should be happy, enthusiastic, engaged and have all the engaging and educational toys and resources they need to help nurture and teach every child — and to be partners with the parents. Parents should demand better for our children. We actually had to go OUT of our zip code to find a place we were happy with. Sadly, there are so few reputable, clean, safe and beneficial day care centers for kids.
