Five star for staffing and reception; four star for food taste considering the value for money, it is NOT expensive at all, three star for restaurants layout and setting up, especially the carpets needs to be changed(looks like these carpets came from The Dinosaur Era). Not quite suitable for business lunch or dinner. I will definitely come back for this lovely restaurant.

If you are military personnel, you must be in uniform with your CAC card to get a discount. We just moved from CA and once we show his ID to the front desk, the lady seemed flutterd and unprofessional. She called her superior to repeat what she said as she contued to nod her head side to side when we told her that we didn’t know this since we are not from here because the one in CA never has demanded that requirement. Anyways it made our lunch awkward and unpleasant. The food was okay, no complaints there just those lady’s that made a conversation of miss communication into a waste of over exaggerating debate of rules of military uniform protocol.

You know, you have to rate places on a relative scale. A mediocre, yet highly-rated Zagat eatery will naturally garner more stars on Unilocal than the same food and service from a dive diner. It is axiomatic, I’d think, but you still see people denigrating Golden Corrals and Waffle House restaurants, These people are retards and should be disregarded. I had great service at this location. The selection was vast and would be the envy of anybody in Europe. We don’t often enough appreciate the fact that we can pay one low(sort of) price and eat all that we want. Let me assure you that this paradigm is a rarity in developed(and undeveloped!) nations whose initials aren’t «USA.» I asked for hot sauce… hot sauce was delivered. A civilized man can’t eat mac-n-cheese without that accoutrement. My Diet Coke was topped off with alacrity. Dishes were cleared promptly. There were smiles all around, What else do you want? Three stars, just average, It;s Golden Corral, not Ruth’s Chris. I liked it, got full, and left happy, for not a lot of cash.

New Bern’s Golden Corral has not been updated to the newer«Stations» concept of the chain, so some of the newer food options at other locations are not available here. Still, there is a good variety of food options on the Golden Corral buffet that you will most likely overstuff yourself with. Had a better than average server who was very polite and prompt on removing empty plates and keeping the beverage glass full.

Basically, the people are nice who work here and it seems as though they never have new people working. Always the same core people. Music in background is Christian Radio and that makes a little intolerable to enjoy food. The place is clean and managed well, and the staff is paid bascially minimum wage and they seem happy to be working there as well.

As Golden Corral’s go, this one is fine. The staff is friendly and the dining rooms and food serving areas clean. This is sit down eating(buffet style) at a budget price — so set expectations from there. The salad bar is wonderful — it includes pasta salads, cut fruits, and a nice sampling of treats to dress up your greens. Where dinner is concerned, I stick mostly to the rotisserie chicken, sweet potato casserole(delicious), and steamed-broccoli and cauliflower. That’s when I want to eat healthily. When I want to be a pig, I dive into the fried chicken(grab the drumsticks immediately because they go quickly!) with macaroni cheese — I’ll do some steamed-string beans on the side to make up for it. On occasions I will have fish. I do not eat beef or pork, so can’t weigh in there. Golden Corral is a treat for me as I have none in my area — so I may eat at this one three times over a two week period while visiting my Mom(look for me working on a crossword puzzle as I dine solo at my table). My complaint is, to me, the food choices are very limited — I end of eating the same thing for lack of variety. Have heard that other GC locations do offer different things on the buffet line — hopefully this one will follow suit. Desserts are fine and in line with the price you’ve paid. This GC features a self-serve soft ice cream machine as well as standard cakes, pies, and cookies and YES, the chocolate dipping fountain. I also really enjoy their dinner rolls and honey butter spread. I have eaten at very bad Golden Corrals — this is not one of them.
