Wonderful place! I have attempted to go through an MRI3 times. Once at Preferred Imaging in Austin(scared the kaka out of me because it was an older machine and very closed), once at ARA in Cedar Park(I was told it was open, but when I got there, they tried to put me in what the nurse called, «Open-ish»). Finally, we drove nearly two hours to Gruene, Texas so I could go through a real Open MRI. The girl at the front was super nice, a man handled my medication procedure(taking valium prior to the scan) and the MRI tech was graceful, patient and sweet as pie! I was able to keep my arms outside of the machine so I didn’t feel trapped. And hold my hubby’s hand while the scanning was done. There was no sensory deprivation because I did not have to wear headphones. I kept my eyes shut tight so I wouldn’t see how close the machine was to my face. The interior of the room was light, spacious and airy with beautiful furniture, a rocking chair, plants and big bright windows. Everything that told my brain, «it’s okay, you’re in a safe, happy place!» Nothing like the sterile cramped locations I had tried previously. And throughout the scanning, the tech would pause every 3 – 5 minutes and ask how I was doing and tell me she was going to scan another 3 – 5 minutes. An excellent way to handle someone who is severely claustrophobic! 10 stars in our book! My husband loved how well they took care of me and so did I! :)
