92.1KNBT A great local radio station! This station is tops on my chart in New Braunfels! Actually, you can pick this station up all the way in San Antonio! It’s only local music. How many other stations can say that?! Don’t expect to hear any Grand Funk Railroad on this station– think Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, and all the local artists! The music is fresh, and it’s a nice change to hear someone who’s playing that night out at Gruene Hall or Whitewater! The DJs are generally pleasant, and don’t yammer on. Since it’s on the left side of the dial, I believe that they don’t have to play as many commercials as the chain-radio stations. All of the ads are local too, which is nice. Tune in, turn on, rock out!

KNBT92.1FM — New Braunfels, TX. Next time you’re heading down to Gruene Hall or tubing the Guadalupe, just doing New Braunfels, or even driving through on I-35, tune into 92.1. They’ve been around for many years playing Texas Country and Americana. This is the type of music that put Texas music on the map! I’ve listened to KNBT twice recently — first on a «drive around» from NB up River Road to Lake Canyon and back and second while driving back to Austin on I-35 from San Antonio. It just makes you feel good to hear this music, part of it due to the fact that if you *are* hearing it, that means you’re in New Braunfels or nearby — always cool. The signal doesn’t reach very far, on the north side, I can pull it in up to about Kyle on I-35 It’s a Texas music station. What’s that? Well, you’ll hear plenty of Texas artists — old and new. You won’t hear many of these songs and artists on other radio stations. The genres don’t fit the mass market stereotype. Among the artists I heard — Lucinda Williams, Asleep at the Wheel, Eliza Gilkyson, Willie, Waylon, Delbert McClinton, Levon Helm, the Trishas… You’ll also hear up newer country artists like the Randy Rogers Band and others. Americana is a catchall term applied to music styles including country, folk, rockabilly, country rock, Texas, blues, and mixtures thereof. What else? They frequently do live remotes from Gruene Hall, sponsor charity events, food drives, etc. Anyway, if you’re a tourist heading to New Braunfels or Gruene Hall, tune into KNBT to give you that down-home Texas feel. That’s why you’re hear right? If you’re a native Texan, it’ll «feel so good feelin’ good again» [in the words of Robert Earl Keen]. Enjoy!
