Went there yesterday on the first day of Yarn Crawl 2014. It’s a nice shop with friendly staff and customers. I received a free pattern for Ben Matthews’ attractive design of a cowl that was striking for its combination and variety of color and I was able to buy the yarn with the help of a nice lady, I think the owner, didn’t get her name. In any case, as I was walking out the door I was greeted by an apparent long time customer who warmly invited me to come back for lessons, or to to join a knitting circle for conversation, help, and encouragement. I do not knit or crochet but went to buy a birthday gift for an inveterate knitter. I live in San Antonio but totally worth the drive.

This little store was a bit hard to find. It is in an area of new development and a bit hard to find but I think it is very much worth the search. The complex this store is in is cute. A bit of a forced small town square vibe but very very cute. I walked into the store and it just«felt» right. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the yarns they carry. The people who were hanging out in the seating area were friendly and nice. During the«yarn crawl» they had some yarn from Vice yarn that was dyed especially for them for this event. I LOVED it. So much yarn so little time. I really really liked their selection of yarn that was dyed with natural dyes from plant and bug bases. Totally worth the drive from Austin. I hope to be heading back that way soon. Did I mention that the staff was nice? A truly lovely place.

We enjoyed our visit to Lucky Ewe and must let all crocheters, knitters, spinners and weavers know about this lovely shop. The staff are so kind, informative and helpful. They carry«VICE» yarn from Houston and they boast a wonderful selection of small looms that are ideal for beginners of all ages. Check out their line of «Refashion,» yarn made from 68% recycled wool, its soft and rich with color. I loved their appreciation for my sense of humor and the best of the best, was that it is will lit and they had a range of knitters and crocheters, visiting together, sharing tips and tricks, stories and opinions of favorite yarns. I must go back!

Great place to find quality yarns! Lots of stuff you won’t find at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. However, it is very pricey so it’s a good place for important projects or if you want to just hang out and have questions.

My very favorite place to buy yarn and accessories, get guidance/assistance, and just sit and knit!(Or crochet, weave, spin, etc.) The owners Ben and Linda are wonderful! Knowledgeable and friendly, and so ready to assist in whatever questions you may have in whatever stage you are in your craft — from novice to expert! Customer service is just one reason to buy from a local small business rather than a big box store. There is a great variety of classes offered on a wide range of topics(knitting, crocheting, weaving, and hand dyeing just to name a few recent offerings) with new ones added all the time. For a cozy-sized store, it has a great selection of fibers to accommodate most price ranges. It is conveniently located in a darling newer shopping area, nestled in an interesting old historic town, surrounded by restaurants, boutiques and wine bars, with great parking. What more could you want?

This is a really cool and funky shop. I am new to knitting, so was trying to find a place closer to me(I live at Canyon Lake), and not have to drive all the way to San Antonio for a class and/or supplies. They have beginning and advanced classes, or you can take a one on one class. I took a one on one class with Ben… he’s pretty awesome… makes you feel really relaxed and explained a lot about yarns, etc. They don’t try to hard sell you, but are friendly and will make suggestions if you ask. Linda seems really nice too, although I spent most of my time with Ben… And the yarn… well I don’t know that much about yarn, but the colors, choices and quality are pretty amazing.

One of the new kids on the Yarn Crawl 2012. It was kind of hard to find because for some reason Google maps sent us through the back end of the weird little«prefab mini small town» neighborhood this is located in. Basically they’re new developments that have a forced small town feel. No street parking, there are alleys behind the houses for cars. Detached garages. And weird town square commercial areas. This is where Lucky Ewe is located. It’s a cute store actually. They have several cool things you won’t find in other yarn stores. Love the knitting needles carved from locally sourced mesquite. There’s a store-brand of yarn called Wool Tree Yarn that uses premade yarn(from Louet I think) and dye using locally sourced dye materials — like plants, flowers, wood, seeds bugs, etc. It’s not as weird as it sounds, non-yarn people. The natural pigment source for the color purple is from a bug called a cocineal. They also heat set the dye in pots over an open flame which is.interesting. They also have more common high end yarn like Blue Heron. So it’s a cute store. The people are incredibly nice and there already seems to be a good sense of community there. The neighborhood is not my cup of tea but the store definitely is.

Great yarn selection and friendly people who are familiar with fiber arts. So nice to not have to travel to Austin or San Antonio! Just a great place!
