Excellent! They were great with my teen! We’re looking forward to our follow up appointment!

My family(son, hubs and daughter) have seen Dr. Garcia for various reasons for the last 5 years. Front office staff could use a little more smiling but the nurses and Dr. Garcia himself are all very professional. My son had some warts treated a few times(frost topical meds that didn’t quite work and second freezing them off that dos the trick). Dr. G walked my 8 year old through the process and all went well. He and his staff are very professional!

A few months ago I left a review based upon one appointment with Dr. Garcia and it was a premature decision. I’ve had 2 additional appointments and have left disappointed. The receptionist/front desk staff have been extremely rude and lack that warm and inviting attitude you would expect when visiting any physician. I felt as if I were a nuisance to the staff from the moment I entered the front door and the feeling only grew when Dr. Garcia came into the exam room. He did not listen to my concerns and acted as if I were over reacting about my skin problem and it wasn’t really a big deal, but he was in a hurry and obviously had better things to do than to assure me that the treatment would start working and it would be back to normal. I just feel like my hopes were set high for him and his staff after a wonderful first visit only to be disappointed during my follow ups. For the record, the treatment did not work!

It’s only after having multiple conversations over several months with Mark Garcia’s staff that I’ve decided to write this negative review. Is it fair to write a negative review of a doctor when it’s his staff that is so horrible? In this situation, I think so. He has a hostile«nurse-type» of person(I hesitate to call her a nurse if she is not and I’m certain he is not one to hire a nurse and pay nurse wages) dispensing medical advice over the phone, and when I mentioned this to him he wanted to know if I knew who it was. No, I do not know who it was. You don’t know who it was, Dr. Garcia? When you arrive to his office it is clear that his hiring criteria is heavily weighted in the size of jeans the girls wear and not whether they are professional, polite, helpful, informed, or are even representative of what people would like to see in a dermatologist’s office. I like my dermo’s staff to have full-blown acne just as much as I like to have an obese personal trainer, yet it seems like everyone there took the job in hopes of getting some free magic worked on their faces. When I spoke to his esthetician about an eye cream she told me that I should just have surgery on my eyelids instead, then proceeded to read off the creams she’s peddling from a handout, stumbling over the pronunciation of the ingredients, and mystified by their roles. I was ignored by his staff for arriving 6 minutes late to my appointment so they proceeded to take every person who was scheduled 15 minutes after me as punishment. When I spoke up I had the sliding glass door partition slammed in my face. You’ll be told after a consultation, which you pay for, that they don’t have time for a minor procedure that day, yet they will take unannounced walk-ins, not to mention the constant parade of pharmaceutical sales reps in Ally McBeal suits revolving through their doors. After a particularly insulting exchange with a staff member, Mark came in to ask what we were doing that day. He was well aware of the tension from the situation and chose to ignore it. I pressed the issue and asked him if he wanted to know what was concerning me regarding his staff. He became dramatic but said he did want to know. I told him that I’ve never encountered such a motley crew of rude, clueless staff as his, with the exception of a former nurse named Harriet, who is the only asset in the entire office. He cut me off, which is shocking, considering that I’m a paying patient taking the time to tell a doctor exactly what is wrong with his practice, when most of the people he pisses off are not going to bother. This is free feedback, brother, and you should have taken advantage so that you don’t have to pay a focus group to figure out what your problem is. He wanted me to know that I am only the 2nd person in 6 years to ever complain about his staff(some of the employees would have been underage 6 years ago so I’m certain he is not referring to the same people) and that his staff is so awesome that people call all the time to tell him so. First it was, «People call and tell me how great they are.» Then it was, «People call to tell me every single day how great they are.» Then it morphed into, «I get letters all the time telling me how great they are.» At this point in time I had to cut the lying SOS off and tell him that we were done here since he obviously had no interest in hearing what I had to say. Good luck to you, Mark, and to your private practice. At this point, you are your own worst enemy.
