Very family friendly atmosphere. My first impression was a little pricey for a place you walk up and place your order and then have to go get it as well. I had the shrimp fest the shrimp was fried, grilled served Cajun style. The shrimp was good, the hush puppies were great. the wait for the food and the fact that it doesn’t all come out together was a little different. I would probably go back it’s a laid back feel.

Wouldn’t you think that something described as chargrilled shrimp would not be fried? Nah. It’s fried, *then* grilled. Face palm. Not everything has to be fried people of Texas. These people in Texas wouldn’t know good seafood if it smacked them in the arse.

No seasoning, overcooked rubbery fish and shrimp. The crab cake and stuffed shrimp where both pretty much the same thing with fake crab filler. Tasted like frozen seafood you could get at the grocery store and microwave at home. That would be cheaper at any rate. Not impressed.

This was a first visit to this restaurant. We decided to stop after a graduation ceremony(Friday 12:35p). I was a little confused by the lady at the entrance, because I thought she was there to seat incoming customers. Turns out that all she does is greet you and give out menus. You wait your turn to order at the cash register and then wait to be called(by beeper) to go and pick up your food. Had a little trouble finding a clean table for four people – no big deal. Staff behind the counters were ok. We ordered two Mainers Sandwiches, a Chicken Skewer Platter, Shrimp Lunch and 4 large teas. The entire bill came out to about $ 44. Waited about 15 – 20 minutes for the food to come out and it was properly prepared. No complaints about the food. Nothing really unique about it. About what I would have expect by a restaurant. I might visit them again if return to that area.

I had the rainbow trout here. It was decent, nothing to write home about. I’ve had better. The sides were nice. Black beans were yum and the hush puppies was probably my favorite thing about the meal. The staff was good enough.

Obviously fast food and mostly everything is over fired and greasy. I wouldn’t recommend going there if you are trying to watch your weight and if you want a cheat day go somewhere else with better quality food. My whole family felt ill after leaving there. I was expecting more with being a new restaurant. On the positive note they have a good variety of alcoholic beverages.

I grew up in San Antonio and used to go to the one by North Star mall all the time with my dad. It’s kinda funny how different the NB building is from that one. It is light and airy and very modern. The food is still as expensive as it was but I think all luster and good memories associated with sea island have all reverted to the land of «eh». Every thing from my shrimp feast was fairly boring and while the hush puppies have gotten better, I still wouldn’t waste space eating them. The coleslaw was probably the most bland I’ve ever had. I know coleslaw in general is kinda that way but this comes pretty close to slimy crunchy cardboard. The staff was great, attentive, and polite… so there’s that. I definitely wouldn’t stop for Sea Island, your memory is probably more optimistic than it should be.

Came in tonight and it was pretty slow, placed our order and waited almost 30 min for our food. They forgot to put in the order and couldn’t even apologize for the mistake… smh. Don’t waste your time or your money.

A bit surprised at the negative reviews! I’ve been here three times and each time was GREAT. Very quick with our orders, tons of food, and always prepared perfectly. I love this place!

Pretty good overall. The restaurant has been spotless both times I’ve visited, and there are many highchairs and a couple of slings for parents with children which is great(and the high chairs do not have broken buckles, yet… Yay!). The food is pretty tasty and good value, two meals + child came to leas than $ 30. I have to say that I was very impressed that the children’s fish bites had a thin batter and were mostly fish. I was expecting the opposite. I didn’t like the spinach much, I found it a bit too gooey for my liking. My fish sandwich was good, so too were the tacos(I would recommend they put more of a spicy/tangy sauce, but that’s just my 2c). Look forward to returning.

They have Putt Putt golf! My mother in law lives in Dallas and insists we eat at Sea Island whenever she is in town, which is often. We used to have to drive to San Antonio, yep for fast food fried seafood. This location is new, the staff is well trained. The greeter is amazingly sweet. Truly. The entire staff is very sweet. They were bustling keeping everything spic and span. The bathrooms were spotless. The restaurant is totally clean. The food is made to order and isn’t sitting in a warmer. The prices are average. I am giving 3 stars mainly because it’s hard to find a healthier option that tastes really good. They know how to fry food though. The hush puppies are good. Sea island in general isn’t bad. Except for the grilled shrimp. That is just wrong. Avoid that. I’m only a little disappointed I didn’t see the Putt Putt on side of building until we drove by leaving. At least I think it’s Putt putt. Or maybe the people were just randomly hitting golf balls. Either way it looked fun.

I love seafood island and I’m really glad they finally have come to New Braunfels. If you’ve never been there before it’s a self serve place… you order, seat yourself down and then you pick up your order when your restaurant provided buzzer lets you know to come and get it. I’ve tried several entrees. The shrimp salad is one of my favorites, a mound of shrimp on top of ½ avocado or a tomato, plenty of crackers and you’re in heaven. The fish sandwich with fries & coleslaw is another winner and very filling. Most plates come with hush puppies, if you’re not a fan you can gets baguette. Clam chowder and gumbo are both flavorful. There are only 2 dessert selections– key lime pie(mediocre) and chocolate cake(haven’t tried it yet). The restaurant is roomy and has great lighting along with different seating arrangements so this makes for quick seating. Parking lot fills up quick

3÷9÷16 We had dinner here on March 9th. The food was actually pretty good. We had the grilled shrimp and it had a great flavor. I was a little disappointed in the atmosphere. As we were walking in their was trash all over the parking lot that could have very easily been picked up. After we ordered our food we went to sit down and the seat I chose to sit in had lettuce all over the chair. We then moved to the back dining area and found a clean table. After we sat down and got our food the manager proceeded to address one of his employees in the back dining room where we were seated. It should have been done in a professional manner. This place has great potential if they could keep it clean!

I should have gone with my gut and walked out as soon as we got there. This cattle call concept did not bode well. We paid $ 50 for 3 meals. Not a single thing was seasoned even with salt. The fish and your batter has to be seasoned. That cannot be fixed after. It’s like rice or pasta in that it cannot be saved. We had shrimp, catfish, whitefish, fries, fries okra, and stuffed shrimp all without a grain of salt. They forgot one of the stuffed shrimp and the cole slaw on one plate. We saw a manager as we were leaving and said they needed to season their food. He asked if we’d ever been to their establishment before which tells me lack of flavor is the norm. Also, there was unsweetened tea in the sweet tea container and they didn’t care. And those hushpuppies were just a golf balls of thick flavorless cornmeal and dough. The stuff shrimp also used fake«krab» in the mix to fill in. Overall this place is a complete rip off and those were barely worth $ 7/plate much less $ 13. Needless to say, we’re never going back. And now 6 hours later we all feel queasy.

I am so excited that Sea Island has fresh oysters. These oysters were so much better than the Oyster Bar downtown. I ordered the shrimp feast. I did not enjoy the coocnut shrimp, but the fried shrimp was actually spectaluar. the grill shrimp was ok, and the diablo shrimp was meh. my 4 star review is mainly for the oysters. i will be coming back for more!

Been here 2 times cause my 4yr old likes the plain hush puppies and apple sauce. We ordered oysters on the half shell this time. Won’t order them again and I LOVE fresh oysters. Fried seafood is ok, a step up from fast food, but nothing we’ve had is good yet. I had the broiled shrimp skewers last time and would not recommend them either. I am not one to review, especially bad ones, but we were so disappointed after trying this new place.

On Saturday 2⁄27 we had great service from this location. Everyone was super helpful and gave us more then what we needed. When a order got kind of messed up they fixed it and made it even better.

This location is new to New Braunfels over in Creekside. My wife and I decided to have Lunch there. The faculty is brand new and clean. The employees are also new, so any issue I just chalk up to learning a new place. It will improve. We walked up to the line and ordered our food. We couldn’t hear the cashier as it is pretty loud in here and the cashier had a soft voice. My fish was great as was my wife’s Salmon. My French Fries were of poor quality, under cooked, and had no taste. The Hushpuppies were so hard, my fork would not cut them. They only have two deserts, so we skipped that. We’re hoping this place improves with time. The fish is really good.
