If there is a GF bakery on any of my travels, I will find it. This gem was beautifully decorated in a cute home in New Braunfels. My brownie and cupcake were both flavorful, fresh and delicious. If I could have justified more purchases, I totally would have. Visit!

Stopped by here to get some goodies for my friend with Celiac’s disease(and myself). The bacon & cheese scone and walnut brownie were freaking amazing. You would never guess they were gluten free. The carrot cake was not great in my opinion — dry and off-tasting. I got a cupcake too that I didn’t try. Four items for under $ 12. This will probably be a regular stop for me when I am in New Braunfels.

We decided to try this place because it is all gluten free and the reviews were terrific. My wife and I ordered some cupcakes for dessert and a scone for breakfast the following morning. The food was terrific! It was so good that we came back a couple of days later to get more scones, coffee and a loaf of bread to bring home. Unfortunately, we don’t live in the area and can’t come here more often. Don’t miss the chance to try this place if you’re in the area!

Just tried this gem of a bakery, the healthy variations of baked goods they offer is just out of this world! The coffee is also the best I’ve had in NB! Amazing atmosphere, amazing owners, amazing, nourishing food and overall yummy goodness!

Always fresh, always friendly… my go to place for gluten free yummy items! They will make to order with 24 hours on breads and have given me great tips on keeping items fresh and ideas for ways to bring out the flavor of their items with sauces, seasoning and recipes. Just the nicest people and a great local business supporting other local businesses!

A very good gluten free bakery… you must try the scones(tobasco pepper and chive)! Nice to have an additional place in New Braunfels beside Naeglins, which is also fantastic, but not gluten free if you need that.

I LOVE this place. I moved from California 6 months ago and was nervous to see how many gluten free options there would be. Red Oak Bakery is perfect. There is a wonderful porch with tables and chairs to sit outside and enjoy the weather, it’s always kept well maintained with a bowl of water for little animals or your dog. Inside there are also more tables in case the weather sucks. The people are awesome. So friendly and helpful. The most important part though(for this review), the food is AMAZING! My personal favorite is the bacon cheddar scone. She has sweet or savory scones, cakes, pies, bread rolls, etc. The coffee is brewed well, you will not have a reason to complain. TL;DR Red Oak is awesome, stop reading reviews to decide and just come. It’s so worth it.

DELICIOUS! Hallelujah for this gluten free bakery! Everything we’ve tried is fabulous and we keep coming back for more. THANKYOU Red Oak Bakery for making tasty pastries, treats, and breads I can enjoy without gluten! Yay!

I practically consider Catherine, owner/proprietor of Red Oak Bakery, my health care provider because I feel so much better after a visit of chowing down on a pastry and a mug of perfect tasting coffee. The only place where on a consistent basis month to month I can drink coffee black with no cream & sugar and no gassy, belching heartburn I often get from store bought pastries and other local bakeries. The first time I tried their pastries I didn’t get the normal rush of blood to my head like a flushing feeling that I often get with other sweets. I’ve never been to a gluten free bakery which I believe now has pointed to either a type of food allergy or reaction to gluten and maybe other ingredients and/or combinations there of I’ld been living with for some time and wasn’t aware. The calmness I feel eating Red Oak Bakery sweets is a weird but welcome sensation. And keep in mind it’s not just the gluten free ingredients but the other natural ingredients that points to Catherine’s hound dogged commitment to providing healthy alternative foods without sacrificing flavor. She really cares about what she is doing and she shows it in the quality of her products. There’s not too many places I can say that of other food prep businesses.

I’m usually very scared when I hear gluten free, especially when it involves desserts. I love my desserts to be bad! I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I walked in as they were about to close and only had a tart and cupcakes left. I opted for the coconut keylime cupcakes and a hibiscus tea. I will say that I hate keylime but you know the cupcake was actually really good. Even though it was gluten free, i really enjoyed it. The cake part of the cupcake was even better than some of the non gluten free cupcakes I have enjoyed. The hibiscus tea was also very refreshing for the hot summer day! I definitely think people can come by and choose something good.

I never knew gluten free could taste just as good as the gluten stuff. Don’t come here because it’s gluten free and all natural ingredients; come here because the delights are just plain great tasting the gluten free and healthy ingredients are just a bonus.

Red Oak is amazing! I stop by whenever I feel like treating myself. Everything I have had is delicious. The bacon cheddar scones are perfection, and the loaves of bread are always fresh and hard to get if you don’t go early. I really like the coffee they brew, and the little patio is a nice place to spend a Saturday morning.

This is probably celiac nirvana. There is a wonderful selection of baked goods and everything we got was wonderful. I have celiac and the rest of my family does not– which has led me to having to listen to complaints of my «weird bread». Here everyone was happy. If I lived in the area I would be here all the time!

Can we get 30 stars? my daughter, mother and I went today and I was blown away by the lemon pound cake and grapefruit and olive oil cake. They were both dairy free and gluten free. My mom bought the last 2 pieces of the olive oil cake, and I bought 2 pieces of pound cake.. The cake was perfectly moist, and I couldn’t have any complaint in the world. I used to love 2 tarts, but now this is my place when they are open. Thank you for having a place like this, means a lot to me… Makes me feel«normal.» oh side note. not saying anything bad about 2 Tarts, they just aren’t allergen friendly and I must support my small businesses that care about us special people :)

So… there’s not much in the way of gluten free in the NBTX. In fact, there’s not much in the way of healthy, either. But what the entire town lacks in good, this bakery makes up for it in spades. This isn’t the type of gluten-free bakery that uses cheap, unhealthy alternatives for«regular» unhealthy ingredients, this place is the real deal. You’re not going to find anything remotely comparable outside of your all-natural best friend’s kitchen. For example, there’s the Cardamom Almond Tort. It’s dense, full of almond and cardamom, and just the right amount of sweet to accompany a spot of afternoon tea. Oh, tea? If you prefer the iced, herbal variety, they have a great Hibiscus tea mixed with herbs like Stinging Nettle. Very tangy. If you want bread, they make olive rolls and french bread, you need to head in early as they sell out pretty early. Yes, I said that. Gluten free french bread. If you are gluten free, OMG go here. If you don’t have issues with gluten or wheat or processed ingredients(you actually do, you just don’t address it), you’ll like the bakery items.

Very very yummy! I walked in and wanted to buy one of everything to try but I decided to try a little at a time. I got the giant hazelnut cookie which was good. Then I tried one piece each of the carrot cake and the coconut lemon pound cake. TODIEFOR! So natural tasting and yet still sweet– even my mom gluten-free boyfriend thought it was all amazing. I even had a sample of their bread– so fresh! I will definitely be back! My only negative is they didn’t have any muffins or scones the day I went but I am not sure if those are only right when they open or on Saturdays.

This is the best gluten free bakery I have ever been too. It is open from Wednesday — Saturday, 8−5pm. There is a market in town on Saturday mornings so by noon the shelves were on the empty side. You can call in advance to order items to be set aside for you to pick up later. I noticed that several people came in to pick up orders of baguettes put on hold. This place is run by a mother and daughter, the daughter does the baking. Everything is handmade from scratch, even the flours. I took several items away with me to try from home, and everything was phenomenal. My friend also had a chocolate chip cookie, and mentioned she couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. It was even better than some normal bakeries. I loved the balance of external crispiness and yummy center. The almond spiced cake was moist and flavorful, yet not too sweet. My favorite was the cinnamon brioche, which heated up the next day on the skillet tasted fresh out of the oven. The lady mentioned it was buttery, but I found it to be a light flakey perfection. We also had an opportunity to sample a slice of fresh bread, which was AMAZING! Gluten Free? Really? I don’t think I could tell in a blind taste test. The bakery is located in a cute renovated home, that has a couple of table inside that you can enjoy your items at with a cup of coffee. I will definitely be planning a trip just to come here from Austin on another Saturday in the near future.

Who knew we’d find a gluten-free bakery in New Braunfels during our 3-days work trip?! Thanks a bunch to Carrie S. for pointing us here with her review. We visited late afternoon on a Saturday, so many of the items were already sold out. But we got to enjoy the vanilla cupcake with coconut lime frosting which was heavenly: the frosting was so rich and moist, we were still exclaiming in disbelief the next day that it was dairy free. The cocoa cupcake was solid too but not as outstanding. The Spanish almond torte was lovely, exactly as I remembered from my Spain trip. I was impressed they offer so many fresh, dairy-free options in addition to being gluten-free(darn our Asian genes and the correlated lactose-intolerance!). The owner treated us to complimentary coffee. She invited us to come back earlier the next day in order to enjoy a wider range of products before they’re sold out … including GF baguette(!!!). Unfortunately our schedule was tight — another trip will need to be made for the baguette, and to take photos of the colourful bakery house and yummy goodies. For now, I’ll have to settle for drooling over their facebook photos.
