Scrumptious pastries and bread, beet salad, smoked salmon, candies and much much more. I’m non Polish speaking but everyone speaks Polish and it feels like you’re in Europe.

I am delightfully stunned to find this place right in my back yard! Moved to New Britain 5 years ago and never visited Roly Poly thinking it’s just a bakery! Was I wrong! I go for the noon time meal(10:00 a.m. till 6pm) and tomorrow I’m going for 6 – 10:00 breakfast. I can hardly believe I got two beautiful thick slices of fresh pork loin, potatoes and one more side(I chose cooked beets) for $ 7.50!!! I also took home another meal of roast chicken for tomorrow. Very neat and clean, everything fresh and everything a Polish person would want. I’m not Polish so shopping for other items is tricky — but I’ll be a regular for lunch!

This place is awesome. Thought it was just a small bakery. Boy was I wrong. Think Fresh Market with polish and other European specialties. Great place.

For real. Bang. Holy S&it. So, I’m exploring my «polish roots» now that I live in little Poland(I am a very embarrassed immigrant that can’t even speak polish). This place ROCKS. Kielbasa is super cheap and about the best thing I put in my mouth. Came in here yesterday and got two pounds of traditional kielbasa and a two pound jar of sauerkraut for under $ 9. Went in today and got 2 paczki. loaf of bread, box of vodka cherry chocolates AND perogies for under $ 12. Cheap and totally worth it. There is absolutely a language barrier with some of the staff but have yet to have anyone be rude.

Very polish marketplace. Loads of fresh pastry but the staff was actually standoffish due to the fact that we weren’t speaking polish. The rosehip jam filled doughnut was outta sight, though.

Got a ton of great stuff– pickles, chocolates, bacon, and more. The prices were great– everything was super inexpensive. I really loved the chocolates we picked up, which all had a drier, almost sandy filling, with little chunky bits. A little strange, since I’m more used to creamy smooth fillings, but are really nice. My favorite pick was a tub of basil flavored cream cheese. Great fresh basil flavor! The staff weren’t super helpful, but another customer there saw our confused looks and happily told us all about everything in the pastry case– she was super sweet and full of smiles, which was fun for us. The one downer was the pazkci, which were heavy and dried out. And we got really unlucky in that ours had only the tiniest dot of strawberry jam filling– which seemed like someone made a mistake. More jelly would have made it a lot better.

Purchased the prepared foods many times. I especially like the stuffed cabbage. Delish. Anyway, the place is always clean and the imported foods are interesting. The staff is very nice and courteous. Oh yea… the prices are good.

Unless you speak Polish, stay far away. I’ve been in there twice and they’ve been downright snobbish, borderline racist. Completely ignoring me because I don’t speak their own language and not one of them even remotely speaking a lick of English or even understanding the language for simple nods to easy questions. I bought what I thought was chocolate cake but later found out was ginger thanks to the useless assistance I received, or lack thereof, when inquiring about the cake. Thanks, but no thanks, I won’t be going back nor recommending this location to anyone I know.

Great place for all ur Polish shopping needs in one stop! The bread is always fresh and so good! The cake with white fluffy frosting and fruit filling is amazing! I get it every year for all birthdays and its always a huge hit! Not too sweet, just perfectly moist with fresh fruits! All the pastries and deli choices and hot food is amazing! Enjoy! Smacznego!

Whether you are Polish or not, this place is super exciting. Considering it is in the heart of Hard Hittin’, this place is impeccable inside while being authentically Polish. I love the fact that many of the items are imported and reasonably priced. The ladies working at the deli were very sweet as I asked for chicken loaf, garlic deli meat ham, and pepper jack cheese. Their seeded rye bread is insanely awesome and this place puts Pol-Mart into shame. I had such a wonderful experience that I may have to go here on a weekly basis to get all of my lunch fixings.

What sorcery is this?! How does something like this survive in Downtown New Britain, even in Little Poland? It’s an absolute visual and gastronomic spectacle, hiding inside a withering brick building that one would frankly expect to house a brothel. Everything ever is here… Deli meats, cheeses, 15 – 20 kinds of kielbasa, fresh breads, bakery and desserts, a combination deli counter/coffee station/ice cream shop, Polish dry goods, Polish beer, even a health & beauty aids section in the back. I don’t even know what half of this stuff is, but some of it is going in my fridge on a regular basis. Prices aren’t exactly in Wal*Mart territory, but are nevertheless highly reasonable. Many of the kielbasas and deli meats are $ 4 – 5 a pound, a big jar of pickles is around $ 3… can’t lose here. Brush up on your Polski before you come… many of the employees no speak-a da English. Or just work on your gesticulation skills…

The outside of the building doesn’t look like much, but the inside is quite impressive! I was blown away when I stepped inside for the first time. It reminds me of a Trader Joes, but filled entirely of Polish food. The sign outside says«Roly Poly Bakery» so I was expecting to find a small bakery inside. But what I found was a mini-market, full of frozen goods, packaged goods, deli meats, pastries, candies, drinks and condiments. All imported from Poland! They even have a hot-foods counter in the rear and a sandwich counter up front. Darn, on the day I visited they were out of kielbasi :-( It’s a great store. No wonder on one particular Saturday afternoon the place was packed with customers. They were mostly Polish speaking customers. I think I was the only English speaking customer, but many of the staff do speak English(so no worries with the communications gap). I couldn’t read a damn thing but I loved looking at all the European packaging and different brands. It made me feel like I was in Europe. I purchased a few items. Prices were actually very good. Usually imported items from Europe are higher priced but I did not find that to be the case. OMG, I purchased a 10.3 oz candy bar(made in Poland of course) for only $ 2.09. I thought the price was a misprint because it was such a bargain. It tasted great too! The only thing they don’t have is much produce. But I guess the assumption is you can purchase those items from your regular grocery store and they don’t need to be imported all the way from Poland.

What a cool place. Being of Polish heritage I had massive flashbacks of my grandmother as soon as I walked in-amazing selection and friendly staff. Candies, food, toiletries – and the bakery has no shortage of delicious looking pastries. Won’t lie… not reading polish was a bit of a hindrance, but it was still a great time.

A little gem of a deli/supermarket. The staff is really friendly, and really polish. As i stare at their offerings in confusion, they always offer up their insight on what to try. They have a large selection of groceries, which i’ll have to take a closer look at someday, but they look like they have it all! Inexpensive, warm, quick, and good tasting food, win.

This is a gold polish gold mine! As you may or may not know New Britain has a heavy population of polish food. Now that I am working in the area I ventured out into the New Britskies. My staff recommended this place based on price and great variety! so i made my way over… I am not polish but this place looks legit. Everyone inside is polish and bilingual.(some only speak polish). What does that mean = good polish food. The place is market /deli with a seating area. The deli serves hot meals which are prepared in the mornings. A meal comes with mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, breaded chicken and a side of coleslaw. There are many styles of coleslaw that a true polishman will need to educate me in. If you looking for something different and fun I would highly recommend this place. Its cool to just look around at the grocery items they offer.

A fellow student brought their cookie tray to an open house at our school. O. M. G. I have never, ever, EVER, had cookies like this! Beautifully executed little pieces of art to delight the eyes. Light, crispy, delicious little bites of heaven to delight your mouth! Better than Mazzicatos, better than any damn bakery I’ve been to in a long time, and considering I’m a bakery-avore, that’s saying a lot. I will definitely make a point of going to this bakery this weekend or next. I cannot be held responsible for how much baked items I might ingest… but when it’s this good, you don’t care! If this hasn’t hit your foodie-radar yet, do no wait. Run, don’t walk, to this little spot of heaven. Bravo, Roly Poly, Bravo!

This bakery is great! There Rye breads are the best. The pastries are incredible. There is not a bad thing in this place. The attention to detail in the looks and taste of everything is very impressive. Every time I’m in the area I stop in. Been doing it for over 30 years now.
