My second time here. The first time I ordered fried chicken and it was below average and pretty expensive for me to be still hungry and disappointed. I recently went back for a birthday party and ordered catfish, mac&cheese, and collard greens. DELICIOUS! I can only give an average rating because I had two different experiences but I’ll definitely give it another try. Cons during this visit was very hard/crunchy cornbread(it was comical at times) and my meal came with only one piece of catfish.

3.5 I guess… I am disappointed because I went on a Saturday and made reservations bc the woman I booked with said there would be a live band at 7. There wasn’t. Only thing there was was a crowd of wannabe«boughie» ppl who had to stare you up and down to check out if you were dressed nice enough! UGH!!! Anyway the food was pretty good, it was a pre birthday dinner for my date so the menu was open for the celebration. They serve generous portions! The drinks are REALDRANKS! Was feeling nice only after the first few sips! Wouldn’t dare get another bc then I wld be toe up and I live way too far for that shit lol! Anyway…the combo appetizer catfish fingers, philly egg rolls and peach ribs was so filling we didn’t even finish it, steak egg rolls were superb! But I think they can do better than dipping sauce of «ketchup» and«mayonnaise» The entrees we ordered were ok-not fabulous. I had pork chop platter w greens and yams, the chops were good and well seasoned, greens were OK, date had short ribs Mac n cheese and potato salad. Mac and cheese was disappointing, potato salad was excellent. We had dessert to go which was also VERY disappointing, terrible terrible REDVELVETCAKE, sweet potato cheesecake was(just) iight. Overall decent experience, waitresses and waiters are excellent, nice ambience, little pricey but hey… I might think of returning just to see a band since we missed it, but then again meh

I went here to celebrate my friend receiving her doctoral degree. We was given a private room which was nice. The servers were friendly. The food was delivered hot and then it was down hill from there. I ordered the shrimp platter and the shrimps were overcooked, rubbery and tasteless. Comments around the table about the food were«old oil», and cooked to hard. This was my first time at Delta’s and when I mentioned to friends about my experience I was told It depends who the chef is determines quality of food. What??? Anyway. It definitely was not someplace I would come back too.

This guy Dirk greeted me with a cover charge of $ 5 per person. I was reluctant to pay it and even argued about it because I knew we were going to dine and purchase entries and drank many drinks. We paid it and we had a good time! Good food and drink. We danced and celebrated!!! Later I found out that the cover charge was for the band… The band was HOT!!! They deserved more!!!

Definitely an old folks spot if your black and like 30 you’d enjoy this place to pieces. The ambiance is very sexy and sleek and they have a great live band. They play a lot of cookout music and people even get up and dance in their little makeshift dance floor. It’s a really nice place, the food is really good too. I had the appetizer with the peach ribs(I don’t eat ribs) and the fried catfish was so YUMMY. My other friend ordered the mac & cheese and it tasted like my momma made it lol. The only down side was they stuck us RIGHT by the bad so talking was really using sign language or yelling until the band took a break. IDK how our server even got our orders right with how loud it was. But besides that a very nice spot will come again maybe with my aunt or something.

So. I took my hubs here as a surprise date and he is EXTREMELY picky and snobby about food. He wasn’t ecstatic about most of the meal but the live music was lots of fun! The service is great here and the ambiance is beautiful. Valet is hilariously overpriced(we took über there). Menu selection was your standard soul food place with a bit of an upgrade. Worth it to go for a cute night out but I’m unsure about it being a staple.

Drove up from DC and came here for the first time for a girlfriends birthday dinner. Nice ambiance, yummy cocktails, and great soul food. I tried the gator appetizer. Kinda like tough calamari(nothing like chicken lol) but I ate allll of it! I had the oxtail and was sucking the bone it was so good! Everyone was happy with their food and service. We talked about it on our drive all the way home. We’ll be back here again!

I absolutely love coming here to celebrate my birthday. I came here 3 days ago. I made reservations for myself and 6 of my friends… Once my whole party was present, we were seated right next to the band… The ambiance was wonderful. The waitor was quick and friendly. The food was terrific and very delicious. They have wonderful Southern food. I ordered the Delta’s punch and it was great. I would definitely recommend this drink if you come here… The band gave me a birthday shout out and played some great songs. They played some oldies but goodies. My friends and I kept getting up to dance… Everyone enjoyed their meals and had an overall great time. I would definitely recommend this place for an after work meet up, a nice date or a celebration like I did. they have valet parking for $ 10 for the first 3 hours and you can text them before you leave the restaurant to retrieve your car.

Loved the food!!! Service was great. Only minor issue I had was parking, I had to valet my car. They didn’t actually move it. I paid to have my car sit in front of the restaurant the whole time. That was odd however the food and service was so good I would go back and pay valet again lol

Ambiance… nice! Food…not so much. Appetizers(philly cheese egg rolls) was fantastic. Fried Chicken, white meat; dry and disgusting. The veggies were overcooked. Ugh! The manager was walking around and asked, «was everything okay.» I told her no. She swapped my two fried chicken breasts for dark meat. And then, the dark meat was dry. Don’t know how you mess up fried chicken. LoL I really enjoyed the live music and drink.

Well, well, well … My dad brought the family here on Sunday for lunch… From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I knew I would enjoy myself. We made reservations due to the fact that we were a party of 10. They sat us in a private room, with nice comfy accents. I read online that this place usually has live jazz, but when we went they had a live dj. He mostly played old school rap and r&b, which was fine with me… The menu was definitely a nice selection, offering cuisine for every type of dinee… Our waitress Nicole was very attentive, and sweet, and it did not take long to receive our meals… Now to the good part… I pride myself in being a fair drink critic… Often times restaurants fall short on giving the drink enough kick… I had a green cocktail called kryptonite and Oh my gosh was it delicious! It was the perfect amount of fruity and liquor… It was so yummy… The food was so good as well! This is a soul food restaurant and they definitely stand out from any sf restaurant I’ve been too! Please go here, it’s so worth it! Have the Mac & cheese it’s to die for

This restaurant isn’t even located in the bad area of New Brunswick so please all of you. Anywho, this is an amazing soul food place, it’s got pretty much everything. I had the potatoes salad fish and mac & cheese and it was literally so good. It’s not to have this kind of food so close to campus as well(Rutgers University). The staff was extremely nice we were just told we would have to wait a little longer because we arrived between brunch and dinner which was all good. The ambiance is also very good nice for a dinner for two or even a girls night out. Personally I would recommend this place to anyone who loves soul food.

Free cornbread to start instead of plain old bread, need I say more? I shall say more. The chicken and waffle dish was really flavorful and a big portion too. Will be back again !

We came here from so far for one reason and one reason only. I’m knocked up and had a craving for some serious soul food, chicken and waffles to be exact. We made reservations 3 weeks in advanced. Upon arrival we lingered for a bit until we were greeted, sorry didn’t mean to interrupt I’m just a prego with a serious craving. We were seated upstairs at the back of the restaurant, super hidden in the corner. We were not able to see the band that was playing, but we were able to hear it a little bit. I guess I should of made our reservations a lot sooner cause there were empty tables, but for some reason we were tucked away in the corner. However, our waiter was courteous and respectful. We started off with the fried gator and collard green dip. I liked the batter on the gator, it was crispy and well seasoned. It tasted like chewy chicken. The collard green dip was served with a side of chips, the dip had a good taste, but the dip was a little too firm to call dip. The consistency required the use of a knife to spread on the chips since it was too firm to dip the chips. I was so ready for the chicken and waffles, I couldn’t wait. Well they came and I ended up only eating the chicken. I like that it was real chicken pieces and not chicken strips, I enjoyed the crispy batter and seasoning, but the waffles were soft and cold. I did not enjoy them at all. My entrée came with two sides and I chose the mac and cheese with sweet potato fries. The mac and cheese didn’t do anything for me and the sweet potato fries were average. My husband ordered the fried seafood platter and that was meh. My friend ordered the Ribs and licked the plate so I believe she liked her dish a lot. We skipped out on the dessert, I couldn’t risk it anymore I was pretty much done at this point. My high expectations of this place had subsided. I didn’t feel comfortable here as we walked in and walked out I couldn’t help but notice that we stood out and not in a good way. I’m not used to that I’m color blind, but this night in particular I felt unwanted at this establishment and my pregnancy craving was not so satisfied. This place inspired me to create a Do Not Return(DNR) list.

Came here craving soul food with a mix of 1 white girl, 1 Egyptian girl, 1 Mexican girl, and myself, an Asian. We started off with some cocktails and some fried alligator and collard greens dip. The gator was interesting… Like some super tender chicken with slight rubberness to it. It wasn’t gamey. Some people got the chicken and waffles. I was told the chicken was pretty good but the waffles were subpar. Another got the ribs and I’m told they were good. I ordered the fried seafood platter that came with shrimp, catfish and hush puppies with a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. The fried stuff was about average and so was the Mac and cheese. The greens were too salty. The waiter we got was cool and friendly. As we walked out, the patrons of the restaurant found my group very interesting for some reason. What, I’m not allowed to like soul food? Anyway, this place was a bit pricey for what you get so I give it 3 stars. Won’t be back.

This is the place to go to for soul food in New Brunswick. And during happy hour, there’s half price drinks and apps and even free wings on Thursdays. Oh, and their sweet potato cheesecake is TODIEEEEEFORRRRRRRRR.

Came here for a birthday party on a Friday night. I believe there was a $ 5 cover, but with a reservation you get in free. The place has great atmosphere and décor. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted to live music, a packed bar, and everyone dressed to impress. Because we were a large group, we were seated in the back of the room, behind the band. I LOVE live music and they were excellent! I will say, it was too loud to have a conversation or hear the waitress at times without yelling. The cornbread was absolutely delicious. In fact, the best thing about my meal was the cornbread. My blackened catfish with mac n cheese and candied yams left much to be desired and was mediocre compared to other soul food restaurants i’ve visited recently. No one in my group raved about their food. Many rating it between 3 and 4 stars. I’ve heard good things about their First Friday event. I won’t come back for the food, but may return for dancing and drinks.

Came here on a busy Saturday night. We couldn’t get reservations until 11pm so I suggest calling a few days in advance. They had a live band which was ok but later on the DJ started playing a mixing 90s RnB and hip hop. Great ambiance and decent crowd, some people were even dancing on the small dance floor. Great restaurant for a date or girls night. I had the southern fried chicken and Mac and cheese and it was above average. I would definitely eat here again if I’m ever in the area.
