First experience, they brought me delivery as I suffered on couch with flu. So one star for quick delivery($ 2 surcharge) and for following up with a clarifying question about my order via phone(I ordered on Unilocal). Another star for the seafood udon – first time trying it anywhere and it literally brought me back to life. Not sure if it’s because I’m sick but I’ll get two meals out of it. Disappointed by the edamame dumplings, which I had really hype for, but turned out you only get five for $ 10 and the flavor is… lacking. Also the dipping sauce …nah. But another star because I sense everything will be that much better in the restaurant.

Terrible service, they sat us in a room by ourselves and wasn’t visited throughout 90 perecent of my experience. Starting with 10 minutes of waiting to be asked what i would like to drink. Another person from my party of only 3 had to seek service. From not seeing any workers when we did see them, they were completely confused why we were seated on the opposite side of the restaurant. THEN our order was wrong, unsurprisingly. My order was on a friend’s plate, they proceed to take her dish away, scoop my portion off and hand it to me on a side dish. Is zero stars an option?

I love this place. New Brunswick needed a sushi place like this. The atmosphere is great. It’s definitely a good place for a girls dinner or for a date night. They also have a good lunch special. The service is a little slow but they are very accommodating. All of the sushi is always fresh and they have a lot of options. The rolls I’ve had have been good but I love the sunshine roll. The Kobe beef dumplings are good too. It’s also good for the usuals(miso soup, ginger salad, etc.)

Sushi room had a really nice ambiance. It made it a unique find in New Brunswick. All the sushi tasted fresh. I absolutely recommend the Google roll. The wait staff was great however didn’t have much knowledge about what certain sushi items were. Overall, I’d go again!

I work in New Brunswick, and the first time I visited the Sushi Room was for a weekday lunch. I thought the sushi was mediocre, but the price was great(I think it was $ 10-$ 12 for 3 rolls and a salad). On this last(and final… spoiler alert) visit this past Thursday, my colleague and I sat at the bar for Happy Hour and ordered drinks and appetizers. All was fine until we placed our sushi order — just one spicy tuna roll and one salmon avocado roll. The bar wasn’t crowded, and our appetizers came out quickly, so we didn’t anticipate any issue making our 7:30pm show a few blocks away. About 20 minutes later, when we were finally able to catch the bartender, my colleague told him to cancel the sushi order because we had to leave. «It’s ready,» he insisted, and when my colleague asked where it was, he said something about being busy and stormed off. When he brought our sushi a couple of minutes later, he said we got ours before anyone else, and nearly threw down our chopsticks and soy sauce, refusing to make eye contact or say another word. As if the service wasn’t unappetizing enough, the salmon avocado roll was inedible — extremely fishy in the worst way, reminding me of my first visit. As we left, we noticed other neglected tables, patrons looking dismayed. With all of the amazing dining options and deals in New Brunswick, there’s no reason to settle for such a mediocre-at-best experience. Try Destination Dog instead!

Everything about this experience was AMAZING! Sushi, Sake Cosmos, & Service!!! I love sushi… fact. Mr. Lee knows how to make sushi to make all your taste buds tap dance! Our server, David was delightful. Our drinks were made by the owner, who was present & made sure everyone was enjoying their meals. I can’t wait to go back!

Kicked out for being the wrong color! Owner and bouncers literally came along and asked me to leave before I could even finish my drink! Pretty clear to everyone what was going on. If you’re an attractive male of color… Sushi Room doesn’t want you around :(

The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. Service was terrible. We were sitting for 25 minutes and one of my friends had to ask for service. The waiter apologized and said they were under staffed. The manager walked around and did not seem to care. The drinks came out very late and the water was warm from the bottle. The servers seem stressed and not happy about the organization. I would only recommend this place if you don’t mind waiting for delayed service!

I very rarely give such low ratings as I am a supporter of local restaurants that are non chains. I was a patron of Sushi Room years ago when they were smaller and I was a graduate student and would frequent their happy hour. Food was decent but not amazing but I didn’t mind going for the prices during happy hour. Yesterday my fiancé and I had a late work night and was looking for dinner. We went to Sushi Room at about 9:45pm which granted is pretty late but we wanted to see if they were still serving dinner since their hours are listed until 11pm. We asked if we could be seated for dinner but the male host rolled his eyes a bit and walked away. He came back after looking towards the sushi bar and said they were done serving. He didn’t offer any apologies or explanations like a normal host might… I had to ask when dinner normally ended he said 9:30/9:45 depending on «how busy it is». This just seemed inconsistent and unprofessional on how he handled it. We should have taken this as a red flag. We came back again tonight(same host). I called ahead and asked what time happy hour was until to which the host said 7pm. We asked to be seated for happy hour to which the host said«There’s only half an hour left» to which we said that’s fine we can order quickly. We sat for ten minutes and then a menu came. We didn’t get asked for drinks. Another 20 minutes rolled by and we weren’t checked on again. We didn’t get offered water or order drinks or even to place an order. I watched the two staff(host and waitress) make a few drinks during this time but not much more. It seemed like they were purposely avoiding to come back to the table or not well trained. I noticed that recently Sushi Room started doing valet… this was frustrating since they only had a few tables and only two staff couldn’t handle the tables. Another man walked in after us and wasn’t greeted or given menus either. At this point my fiancé and I decided to leave due to this terrible service. We decided to head over to Midori in Highland Park which is our normal spot. They have amazing Sushi at Midori and always quick and friendly customer service. I do not plan on going back to Sushi Room nor would I recommend to our friends. AVOID.

Sushi Room is consistently delicious. Classic and specialty rolls, but nothing too funky. Bring a bottle of wine and you are all set for a great date night without much effort on your part. I love to sit by the window and people watch with mood lighting.

0 stars. Manager/owner is horrible and rude. Will rip you off for your own money. Ordered a glass of wine, when the bartender was about to pour my wine in a wine glass the manager him switch to a smaller champagne glass. WTH. I came with a large party and my boyfriend has an argument with the manager over drinks. I complained to the nice bartender about his manager, and his response was«we get a lot of complaints about him all the time so this isn’t anything new» this is just foul why run a business if you are just horrible to your customers? Food is not good. However, i liked the ambiance and live band was amazing! Very disappointing the place has potential but the owner/manager is just a loser.

Service is too slow! Waited 45 minutes for 3 rolls. Sushi didn’t even live up to its expectations. It was all messy when it came out.

Decent food, but our waiter wasn’t the best. We were seated and he seemed to be in a rush, even though the restaurant was basically empty. He didn’t even introduce himself. He checked on us once after bringing out the food. We never saw him again after that. We ran out of water even before getting our food, and he didn’t even offer to refill our glasses. Overall, if I’m really craving sushi I would come back, but the service we received definitely draws us back from coming back here.

Ambiance was peaceful and good entertainment(small jazz type band). Food was decent but I’m picky with sushi so try for yourself. service was ok but it was a little warm in there which isn’t ideal to enjoy a good meal. Overall worth taking a shot at it if you want sushi in new brunswick.

I used to have good experiences here, I liked that there was a bar. The new staff is all completely rude and eager to push customers out early so they can leave. They kicked us out around 930pm.(Website says they are open til 11) we walked in and a rude host said the kitchen is closing in 5 minutes. I asked if we could still order food if we sit down«eyeroll. If you can order in five minutes. «mmk.

I think a place like this deserves 1 star but since it’s one of the decent places in New Brunswick I’ll be generous. Food: was made very poorly. I think I was just really hungry that’s why I believe this place was decent but whatever. I got a few rolls and they were very sloppy. I also got chicken Katsu and the chicken was far from tender. It costed $ 12 for what was chewy and tough as if it was old or refrigerated and they warmed it in the microwave to be served. Service: did not smile at all or even look at me. Basically it was very obvious the server/hostess did not want to be there. But when we left and the manager was standing next to her, she very enthusiastically said«HAVE A NICEDAYTHANKYOU!» Hmm maybe if she even put an ounce of that energy into the duration of my dinner I would’ve tipped her generously?

The ambiance of Sushi Room is dimly lit with a romantic and classy attitude, which is rarely found among the New Brunswick/Easton Ave restaurants. However, besides the lovely ambiance, the food and service are nothing special but rather average. The quality of the food are okay yet overpriced, and the service can be rather cold at times. There are times when the restaurant gets pretty busy, and the service is lacking. Sometimes, the service is great, so it can be kind of inconsistent. I would recommend this place for dates or a girls night out over some wine and sushi! Be ready to pay for the ambiance.

I recommend the salmon skin hand rolls! The salmon skin is thick, flaky, crispy, and has great texture and flavor — you can tell they use fresh salmon skin… Also, I have had the Hawaiian and Crazy rolls and both were great. I felt that the ginger salad serving was quite small considering the $ 3 price tag… I wouldn’t necessarily come here if I was STARVING, but overall the prices are fair and comparable for what you would expect for good quality sushi. The ambiance is very relaxing, there are floor to ceiling windows, lots of light, and the music they play is peaceful… Usually instrumental and not too loud.

This is one of the better sushi restaurants in New Brunswick. The sushi is average at best. I only come here where I am craving sushi and I have no where else to go. Lately the service is god awful even if you are the only person in the restaurant. The waiters are just absent! When they do come, they come every 20 minutes! It’s beyond ridiculous.
